I took a lesson from Joe Lano in 2012 he asked me to play something and then said I know the problem then proceeded to start writing things for me to work on and said when I had it together to come back, twelve years later I still haven’t mastered the concepts he showed me but it changed my insight of the guitar profoundly
I’d don’t know if I’ve ever seen a light switch with more character in my life. I bet that rooms got some stories. Just amazing listening to him noodling around on different tunes.
The weekend was amazing!!! So great hearing/seeing you in person Jimmy! Hope you enjoyed yourself while you were here and glad you made it back alright. Best, Daniel, Erie, Colorado 🤙🏻
Jimmy, I Love your playing and technique you definitely have your own amazing creative style. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and incredible guitar playing. Cheers, Greg Morton
Thanks Jimmy. I've been playing bass all my life with two fingers and now trying to learn guitar and proper picking habits. This helped because i'm struggling with getting the picking nice and smooth. Glad you made it back safe from Colorado.
Listening to the way you play is the highest of the highs Jimmy. Used to listen to Juan Neri of Trio Los Tres Aces in the late 50's and get that same feeling. God Bless You brother, you have inspired me. Let me know when you will be in Los Angeles CA.
I just found your channel I really dig it, I'm a 30 plus year bass player , to old and tired to do all the late night gigs, I changed over to guitar about 3 years ago I'm not unfamiliar with guitar but I have not figured which direction to go with it but I'm enjoying the small acoustic settings and being home by 10, any ways thanks for being here.
The Rotosound Toptape strings are the only flatwounds I've ever heard that I liked. They are now the only strings I like to use with my archtop. I wish I had discovered them sooner for recording purposes etc. Truly a quality string. Thanks for all the great content!
Yea he knows his stuff for dam sure and I dig the way the man talks. Keeping this shit real 100 no fluff tells it like it is, so if your the sensitive kind try and toughen up for once
I lived and worked in Vegas in the 70’s and both Joe Lano and Tommy Marth were the main room guys in town. Joe Lano co-wrote a song “Dig My Fuzzy Wah Wah” and I played guitar on the recording of the tune. Gene Briscoe was my teacher at the time and played in another one of the main rooms. At the time I was just a working class grunt in the lounges where in addition to playing guitar I functioned as a straight man for a comic. Yeah, it sucked….and I hated it. One of the hotels we worked at was the Freemont which was owned by the same group that owned and operated the Stardust which was the actual casino in the movie Casino. A good friend worked in that lounge and I used to see those Chicago mob guys all the time in the pits. You’re a fantastic teacher Jimmy…..the information in this video is priceless and great rendition of “Darn That Dream.”
I was the house guitarist for Sands, Di and frontier then went on to be the house guitarist and arranger at the Hilton for Jimmy Mulidore. Joe is and was good friend from Philly.. Great musician and guitarist
@@BuckJoFiden The Chicago mob guys pretty much ran many of the casinos in town back then and Vegas, IMO, was a decent place to work in back then. With the exception of the crazy Spilotro brothers, they kept everyone in check. There seemed to be an unwritten rule to NOT murder anyone in town. Johnny Roselli, a Vegas mob guy was murdered in Miami, his body cut up and stuffed in an oil drum that was shot full of holes and dumped in Miami bay. Both Spilotro brothers were also murdered outside of town and one was actually buried alive. I worked for a lot of those guys in my lifetime and so long as you were respectful, worked hard and made them money, they left you alone. They were also fantastic tippers. I’ve been a working pro for 60 years and some other people on TH-cam suggested that I do videos talking about my experiences. I do have some solo guitar stuff here, but no narratives. On May 7th of this year I had CMC arthroplasty surgery on my right thumb and just before the operation I posted some videos, just in case I can never play again. The thumb was really getting in the way in my picking hand so after a few years of dealing with it, I decided to do something about it.
@@brunoonlineschool7527 When you say “Hilton” are you referring to the International? In the mid to late 70’s I was working at the Casbah Lounge at the Sahara back to back with an incredibly diverse group of entertainers. Jack Eglash, the entertainment guy, actually booked Anita O’Day in the lounge for some time.
I do five finger solos with my testicular picking…😂. Thanks Jimmy for not only informative videos but for your sharp sense of humour with is sorely missing in jazz education!
Your playing is way over my head, beyond my capacity but…..I learn every time I pay attention to what you generously share Plus how to more effectively interact with assholes 🥸
I love how Jimmy gets his little digs in haha, I’m sure glad I’m not one of the ones wondering “Does he mean I suck??” haha. National treasure.
i tried to make a testicular picking tutorial. youtube said it violated community standards.

Love the sense of humor Jimmy! It’s what keeps us going.

Your playing is gorgeous brother and it's a privilege to hear you. From the majority of us thank you. Sincerely.
Magnifico chitarrista, magnifico insegnante, magnifico personaggio . Grazie di esistere maestro

First video I've seen explaining picking this well.

I've been enjoying your lessons. Thank You!!!
Darn that -Bruno- Dream, now I have to relearn my right hand technique.
Good tune Jimmy.

I gotta work on my testicular picking! 😂
Come back when you got it in all twelve keys
@@dangfd551 😂😂😂
@@dangfd551 I think that's bad advice. If he does that, he'll never be able to have kids.
Maestro in sense of humor too !! ah ah ah!
Love the videos! Thank you 🙏🏽

You guys lived in the best times.
@@BuckJoFiden the best times were before these men

Amazing lesson, maestro. It is posible to make a video on how to practice chord progresions in all keys and with its inversions and sustitutions?
Do you still play your song "Pastel"? Still in my ear to this day. ❤
Like the gypsy jazz picking its always down when changing string or alternate on the same string.
The rest stroke pick. Good show Jimmy B

Baden Powell plays Manha De Carnival without dropping an ash. No sheet. It’s on TH-cam. Cigarette in right hand as he plays.
Da best !
Metheny said the same thing about Grasso.
thank you
Hi Jimmy -- years ago i had a BUCKY PIZZARELLI book , and he mentioned swinging the Eleven , maybe you can cover this ,
Not familiar with other guys teaching methods
Good.
Jimmy do you use a specific pick?
yes an extra heavy tear drop made by Andrea.. I don't remember the shape number.. They are very hard to find
Bruno this is 👍 👌
There’s a guy on TH-cam called Troy Grady that dedicates his entire channel to picking. Would be cool to hear your thoughts on it.
Troy had Jimmy as a guest on his channel a while back
Well you could not have made it clearer. I dont think anyone needs to ask about the right hand again
🤠👍
Is this page the real Jimmy Bruno?
Thanks Jimmy
Hey Bruno, what's up
