how does your paint not just flake off when using the spirits, is it what type you're using?
cos i use just standard mineral turp after applying my grime with a brush
Use white spirits! Not turps!

Instead of using Q-tips, might I suggest trying something like Dual Sides Eye Shadow Sponges? They're washable, won't pull apart like Q-tips, and should perform the same job with free access benefit of being cheaper in the long run and reduce waste.
I really like the two part approach. Each video focusing on one aspect (customizing and then painting) giving enough room to each without getting too long

Instead of the q-tip you could use a makeup sponge thing like Ninjon does. Works great! They don't pull apart and are almost as small as the cotton buds.
Also doesn't have that annoying thread/fiber problem that Q-tips do.
This is great advice. Recently switched over after seeing Ninjon use them too.
I appreciate these solo videos with Dave. I understand that it's Jazza's persona that he's aloof and just has fun with everything, but I personally enjoy how Dave takes his projects a little more seriously, thus appearing to be more invested in the outcome. It's certainly not a competition between them; I just prefer a touch of meaning with my art, and he does that well without taking it too far. I really like how this channel is progressing overall, as well - you all contribute something just by being yourselves. It's a great energy for inspiration and creativity. Thanks a lot!
Now I'm afraid of hurting Jazza's feelings, if this ever comes to his attention... I KNOW that he cares about all of this more than most people care about anything. I made reference to his onscreen persona only(you know, the one that's made it all happen). I meant that as a compliment for Dave, and it unintentionally veered a little bit into another lane. Nothing but positive vibes here, guys - please don't take it any other way.

It's great to see someone embracing the simple painting techniques and working with technical paints. It's a cool but somewhat underappriciated painting style for painting loads of models, like hoard armies! and nice colours with the violet accents!
Got to make a plague toad as a bike mount for a member or two of the kill team. Plague toad pox riders or a marine as well
If you want even more control than the cotton wool tips, buy small cigarette filters and strip the paper off them, and cut them in half and hold them with tweezers. the cotton (or whatever it is) is denser than that of cotton wool tips but still very absorbent, so they are easier to control over very small areas. You can remove a mere milimetre of a wash or heavy glaze by gently rubbing one part-soaked in isopropyl alcohol over the edge of part of a model, or say, take the colour only off of a model's nose. It makes washes much more versatile when you can precisely control removing them after they've dried.

Good stuff, really enjoyed the video content. I appreciate education and entertainment in a format that's easy to take things away at small levels which can be applied broadly across the the hobby.

idk if youve done it yet, but dave and jazza should get the same simple model kit like some sort of vehicle, and then they make something separately in the 40k genre and see how much they differ

Im not gonna lie. I think the streaking grime really ruined these mini's. Right up close they look good. But, in those glamour shots where the camera was just a foot away, every bit of the detail was lost, and they just looked monotone brown.
