Very impressed with your ability to describe flavour - I think I've said that before.

Good to hear your opinions of the 3 different varieties. Sounds like dark star is the best one of all 3.

Yeah Neil it's crazy and scary, when I think only 1/4 of my trees have fruited!

Great that you have these in your collection now! And fruit fly resistant apparently!
Could eat them one after one even though it's a subtle flavour!

Yeah Paul for some reason the fruit fly leave them alone. I like all dragonfruit and like you I can eat a few.

Hopefully they fruit next year Gareth. I am only giving away what I need to cut off the plants anyhow, to keep them semi manageable. Plus I love giving stuff away to people who I know will appreciate it.

If I leave them on too long I get some fruit fly on the open end but not much and doesn't ruin the whole fruit. This season not a single fruit fly affected fruit because i've taken them off early due to excessive rain so they don't split

3-S is Delight and 9-S is Darkstar. Both are hybrids by Paul Thomson.

I knew about the Darkstar it's sometimes called 9-s (even over here) but not the Delight. I don't class myself as a dragonfruit fanatic, they are just one of a few hundred different fruiting plants I grow to eat. I actually like some of the milder flavoured dragonfruit, they make a nice break from eating strong flavoured fruit such as mangos, lychees, jackfruit etc

Dark star it is. Can hardly find dragon fruit at the shops around my area.

Any home grown dragon fruit is good. 👍 Bonus is they will grow in a pot and not take up much room.

Looks like you're drowning in fruit at the moment! Hopefully the longans hold off for a while.

Lol Griffin, you will have this (good) problem in a few years.
