- Skyrim offers players a variety of characters to meet, locations to visit and quests to complete. However nearly seven years after The Elder Scrolls 5 was released, many Dragonborns may finally be starting feel like they’ve done it all, beaten every boss, found every Easter Eggs and saved every guild. Thankfully, that’s not the case, as today we’ll be taking a look at five more things you (probably) didn’t know you could do in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

Another detail about the 'Challenger', if you cast a Fury spell on him, everyone else will turn hostile to him, and this will also make him be like "Hey, stop attacking me this is meant to be a duel".
So, it's basically the exact opposite of fury.... I love that.
TheNN he also dislikes you using the conjuration school calling you a cheater for summoning basically anything.

By the way, does anyone know how likely the challenger is to spawn? I've had multiple magic skills above the threshold for quite some time now, but have yet to come across him, and I'm disappointed by that.

Magic of physics
In the Saadia/Kamatu quest, you can actually take gold from both of them. Basically, go talk to kamatu at the cave. Tell him you'll side with him. Lead Saadia to the stables. Let him paralyze her. Take money from him. Kill him. When Saadia wakes up, use a pacify spell on her. While pacified, she is friendly and you can complete the quest like you killed kamatu for her. Take gold from Saadia. Let Pacify spell ware off. Kill Saadia. Boom, 1000 gold.
Gonna do that on my next playthrough

- spell wears off, permanently "pacify" her

So far this is strangely the most messed up way to get 1000g I’ve heard of, it feels so much worse than just stealing it or something
Wow. I remember trying this exactly but I didn't think about paralyzing her. If I remember she just kept saying "I can't believe you did this" or something like that
My first character was a pure mage, with at least 150+ hours of playtime, and I have NEVER encountered the "Challenger."
Same, I have 600+ hours and all of my magic skills leveled to 100 twice, except for restoration and destruction, and never encountered this npc.
i recently started replaying skyrim on ps4 and encountering the challenger TWICE on both characters within three days

I never have actually. I always had both quest and killed two birds with one stone.
@@hunterchewning6725 I hated going to whiterun *just* to get that quest then running back to riverwood to head up to the barrow, so I always do bleak falls first then. Easy dungeon for quick loot and grabbing the stone, plus gold from Lucan.

Plus, if you turn in the quest to Farengar after already getting the stone, you don't see Delphine talking with Farengar. That's the downside to it.

I believe Saadia is lying. I mean, she spoke out against the Thalmor, and had to run from Hammerfell? Hammerfell hates the Thalmor, she'd be infinitely safer staying there over going to war torn Skyrim with the Thalmor aligned Empire ruling over.

Well, yes and no...
Hammerfell was seceded to the Thalmor as part of the treaty, but the Redguards rejected this and fought the Thalmor to a standstill, leading to the second treaty of Stros M'Kai and Thalmor completely withdrawing their troops from Hammerfell.
So no, Hammerfell is free from Thalmor influence, so there's no way the Alik'r warriors would be working for the Thalmor.
I believe that neither are telling the truth, actually. Both sides say the other was working with the Thalmor, but in my playthrough, when I met Saadia, she said she was a fairly powerful noblewoman in Hammerfell.
I believe Saadia just didn’t want the responsibility that her social status put her in, and she left for Skyrim. Meanwhile, the Alik’r want to bring her back, because of her social status.
There’s a movie the scenario reminds me of. I don’t remember the name, but the story involved a Prince from an African nation fleeing to America, because he didn’t want to be forced into marriage. As a result, the Prince’s father sent some people to try and retrieve him.

When Balgruuf send guards over Riverwood, you can actually go out and see three of them make the run to there all the way from Whiterun.
Great way to spend 20 minutes stalking guards and overheating computer. I've done it and it's awsome

Did you know you can start a thieves guild & Riften guard war. Once you join the thieves guild all you have to do is attack any random guard in Riften, get as many guards to chase you as possible and then run into the thieves guild via the cemetery. It is really fun watching the battle play out, and it unlocks some unique dialog from surviving thieves guild members.

I have actually never ever picked up the farengar quest before obtaining the dragon stone, since I always do the golden claw quest, before going to whiterun xD

I thought it was so funny. Dragonborn: I don't know anything about some dragon stone but I found this really cool looking rock lying around. Faerengar: Give me that. So you just found this without even knowing what it was and just carried it around with you this whole time? Dragonborn: Pretty much.
I think Saadia's lying. There's no way in hell she'd leave her life behind and go on the run, but then say that she's not sure why the Alik'r are after her when questioned. No fugitive is oblivious as to the reason they're in hiding. Also, if Kematu had just wanted her corpse for the gold, you killing her in front of him wouldn't ruin his plan; he could still just bring her body in to whoever hired him and collect the reward. But, instead, he's angry that he now can't bring her in for the fair trial he spoke of. There's just too much evidence on Kematu's side.
Could also be, that the thalmor wanted information from her, and therefore needed her alive. THere is just too many things we don't know about the situation.
That's a good point, but what about Saddia saying that she didn't know why she was a fugitive?
true. could be because she doesn't want to risk giving that info up to a person who could basically sell her out to the thalmor. gosh, i love these intriguing discussions :D

When I played through the quest, I sided with Saadia and, after getting rid of the Alik'r, found Thalmor armour and weaponry in their chests, basically confirming to me that they were the ones lying. I don't know if that was just a random generation or not, so that could be a coincidence.

Personally I always believed Kematu. Sadia gives off strong vibes of a rather cold and criminal nature to me, but both are highly believable because that could just be the result of being hunted.

He tells you he's taking her back to Hammerfell, but you can find her burial urn in the Whiterun hall of the dead. Never again Kematu!

Listen up Nate, I found this out by pure chance; however you know that big ol yellowish gooey Dragon, Duhniviir? He's not undead despite what people think. I have a 'heal undead' spell (Which comes in handy for your vampire buddy in the main Dawnguard quest.) I used the 'heal undead' spell on him and it didnt work! So I opted to "Heal other" and by Talos it worked like a charm. So he's not a rotting corpse despite what alot of people claim..he just is rotting away despite still going. After all his name literally translates to "Curse never dying" in dragon.
So he's literally the textbook example of what happens if you do not have everlasting youth...but cannot die either, kinda...creepy when you think about it.

Durnehviir claims to not be dead, as he says when questioned about it, "Cursed, not dead. Doomed to exist in this form for eternity. Trapped between laas and dinok, between life and death."
Though, that might just be dragons being too poetic.

There is an exploit where you can kill Kematu right after getting his gold, and if you do, Saadia will thank you as if she was never paralyzed, completing the quest twice.

You should do a series on five (or ten) quest breaking glitches, for example swimming to Castle valkihar before the quest is started makes it so the gate never opens and you can't take serana home. Ever.

+Mr Bare Foot Bogan No. Well, yes and no. You have to get the “Kill Kematu” Quest Objective without engaging in combat with Kematu and his men. There’s a few ways to do this, with the most common being you tell the two men at Rorikstead, then head into the Swindler’s Den, and within a few steps, you should get the objective. Then, do the steps above.

Huh, I thought everyone who's played Skyrim more than once would've gotten into the habit of raiding Bleakfalls Barrow before even heading to Whiterun. I've probably played a minimum of five separate "new games" in Skyrim since first buying it in 2014 and I've almost certainly raided Bleakfalls Barrow four of those times right from the start.
Me too, the reason is golden claw quest.
I always do the bleak falls barrow quest when im like level 10 because i honestly just dont care about the main quest line anymore
If you wait until you're a higher level to return the claw, you get WAY more coin for it

I honestly just summon my undead dragon to kill him. It is hilarious to see him get overwhelmed by the big guy and the undead he summons constantly.
Well I met the guy while playing with some mods so I actually turned him into gold.
8:35 while briar hearts have some of the best sneak detection in skyrim the spell paralysis in the restoration skill tree allows you to pickpocket them as they are falling leading the battles against them being extremely easy, i use this trick to steal the weapon from my enemy and proceed to bash their heads with it xD

Actually i believe Saadia is like 100% guilty, from the beginning she wants you to murder those Alikr, even at the end she’ll thank you for doing that.
On the other hand all kamatu does, is to paralyze her, even when you kill Saadia he reacts in a harsh way.

I agree. And why flee in Skyrim if you fear the Thalmor ? They have agents and soldiers here, go somewhere they are not actively looking for trouble makers.

The problem is, REDGUARDS HATE MAGIC! In redguard culture magic is illegal, so him using magic is a massive redflag.
The only reasons I can think of why the Thalmor would hire Redguards to get Saadia is either delegation, or making their cover story seem legit so the locals might want to betray her. But even that's flimsy because none of the unnamed mercs tell you why they're looking for her.

same here for me and my friends. i asked them all about 20 in a discord chat. everyone said they went to riverwood walked around got his quest out of accident or curioustity and bam. instant ''unique'' dialogue

I also side with Saadia, mainly because I visit Whiterun often and like talking to the NPC's, Saadia included.

Seriously, what did you expect from the illusionist sneak-thief, the bound weapon battlemage or the self-healing berserker?
I noticed the restoration loop works better if you make the potion after putting the armor back on and drink the potion with the armor off. Always keep that last restoration potion with 17964532785% effectiveness incase you want to do it again. Be aware that fortify enchanting potion really only lasts 30 seconds, so already know which item, enchantment, and soul gem you're going to use before you even start
Or just enchant fortify alchemy on a gear while still under the effect of restoration loop
That means you can just make whatever potion you want with permanent ridiculous effect anytime later
Take care not to let the numbers go too high however, since you'll probably reach Alchemy 100 by then
I just got the challenger last night my dude. Heres some facts about it you missed.
If you accept his duel, hold guards will spectate. If you decline, they’ll murder him to death.
If you conjure something, or have a follower join in, he’ll draw his blade on you.
The challenger always confuses me. How does he think I'm going to fight him when I only have restoration spells? 😄

In duelling etiquette, the person who is being challenged is the one who gets to choose the weapon. Since you're the one being challenged by the mage, it is well within your rights to use a rocket launcher. The question remains on whether or not you have a rocket launcher in the first place.
I like the idea of a guy watching you walking by with your Dead Thrall (a walking proof that you're a *very* competent conjuror) and be like "Hey! You think you're good magus? I challenge you!"
And the Dragonborn be like: "Ancano? Kill the little boy."
(Works with pretty much any master quest reward ;) )

a quick note about the restoration/alchemy loop, you can also create potions that improve your enchanting ability. if you learn an alchemy enchantment you can use that potion to make better alchemy armor and accelerate the loop, or just give yourself ridiculously OP enchantments. i had boots that would increase my sneak to the point that i was completely undetectable when crouched and gave myself a FORK that could one hit kill every boss in the game

Well, I was lucky enough to encounter this "Challenger" just as I entered Whiterun. Serana was my follower then, and automatically started attacking him after the conversation. The Challenger had a different dialogue too saying something along the lines "This was a one-on-one fight. Have the courage to defeat me alone." (Lol I don't really remember what he said but I'm pretty sure he definitely had a unique dialogue)
P.S: Don’t over abuse the fortify potions, my game crashes by being greedy 😭

POTION OF FORTIFY RESTORATION
Restoration spells are 7.274E+184 percent stronger for 60 seconds.
There is a mod that increases the amount of memory available for the game, I've noticed that with it you can go even higher with the fortify potions before the game crashes.
If the next game is set in Hammerfell we may finally find out what happened in the canon version of "In My Time of Need."
I hope so. Honestly, I could do without the uncertainty of the quest. I get enough uncertainty in my real life, and I play Skyrim to escape things like that.

I heard it's probably going to be in High Rock since we already have a Redguard game...sort of.
I doubt it'd be set in Black Marsh/Elseweyr since it might be too 'strange' for the mainstream. But it would be cool if it was.
The Elder Scrolls: Arena was set in Hammerfell, and they tend to not repeat locations without a really good reason. Maybe sometime around TES XII we'll get another Hammerfell game.
From the teaser trailer the camera appears to be moving southwest along Iliac Bay. Starting from the dragon tail Mountains near. you can see a large crater that is potentially Azra's crossing. As well as the architecture of the structures seen. The city in the distance fits near perfectly with what would be Sentinel. And the view of the desert blocked by the mountains running southeast.
In my time of need? More like- in my time of greed. 😃 I always get the best of both worlds by turning Sadia in and then collecting my bounty from the Alkir then killing kenmatu thus releasing Sadia from the paralyze spell. She will then be hostile but if you cast a simple calm spell on her you can complete the quest with Sadia and gain the bounty from her too. When the spell wears off and she becomes hostile again then you kill her with no bounty on your head for any of it. Play it safe and kill em' all I say. ☺

Hey Nate, not sure if you’ve covered this but when you are asked to kill one of the captives when first meeting Astrid if you only kill 2 out of the 3 you find some unique voice lines from Astrid, and ever possibility of killing 2 of the 3 gives cool dialogue lines

Hey Nate, so today, I was playing through my dark brotherhood quest line, and killed Enodius Papius, well, it seems that the owner of the wood mill up the road from him, sent me a letter wanting to reward me for murdering the poor man to death! Maybe that is the man who hired the brotherhood in the first place? Something to look into!
Here's a fun secret. If you are a higher level in any type of magic, alchemy, or enchanting, you can talk to Farangar for the first time with unique dialogue. This can only be done if you do the main quest up to that point.

In my first playthrough when I knew little about the game, I went into bleak falls barrow before the main quest asked me to...I still do every playthrough because I feel like It just saves time and means I'm a higher level if I wanna explore early on.
"Of course I'll head straight to Whiterun to warn the Jarl and send those guards over!"

Almost 8 years and I still can't stop playing Skyrim. Always something new seems to pop out with each new replay. Also not forgetting the mods and playing other player's saves. Only thing I have yet to do is play the Beyond Skyrim: Bruma add on. Learning about enchantments you never want them to be too strong. Enchantments that look like this for example -9999999999 is never good. Use lower level soul crystals to lose the minus in your stats.
I think that the Alikir's (I don't know if that's the right spelling and I'm not going to look it up) reaction when you kill Saadia is pretty good evidence that she is lying. The Thalmor typically are totally OK with just murdering people who speak out against them, they'll capture them if possible, but even high-value Targets like Delphine are 'capture *or* kill'. Basically, as long as the person is neutralized they are happy. If her crime really was 'speaking out' then I doubt they'd care whether or not she was brought back, meaning that the Alikir (who she claims are just mercenaries) would probably get paid either way and wouldn't be saying how you 'ruined' everything.
Alternatively, if she did have the information they wanted, and so was needed alive, I'm sure she would have added 'yeah the Thalmor want to torture me' to her sob story.
They are taking her back for a trial to face justice, and the Thalmor don't do either of those.

Devasa is the way you write it not pronounce , I wanted to write the pronounction so it'd be easier for Nate to pronounce it since foreigners have a lot of trouble with Turkish for some reason , also if you were to say "Ölümüne katledildi." You'd say the same thing , it doesn't make much of a difference

If you hand over Saadia and just wait around the Whiterun farm for several in game days without fast travelling anywhere eventually a group of Thalmor will come and attack you. Kill them and one of them has a note saying something along the lines that you need to be assassinated because your actions have greatly disrupted their plans in the region.
This happened to me on a fairly new account which hadn't encountered the Thalmor before, so I'm fairly certain the only action I could have done to ruin their plans was turning Saadia over.
A neat thing about The Golden Claw quest is that Lucan's shop is open 24/7 before you finish it.
Back to no. 3 my dad once made the "gloves of the pugilist" an item that you get by starting the thieves guild questline and made it to where you could one punch the son of akatosh to death............. Yeah........... It's a little overpowered and a little cheaty but, really hilarious

I forgot the challenger from Oldrim. He doesn't appear anymore. There used to be wandering groups of bandits on the road or in ambush. You'd dispatch them forthwith, and some time fast travel somewhere, usually Whiterun, and they'd all reappear there very much alive and ready for a rematch. In my very first play-through, they murdered Adrienne Avernicci to death. At the time, I was unaware of the "resurrect" command.
Can I suggest something Nate? Skyrim : 5 ways to make coin . Like being a Hitman or Thief (I personally found Alchemy is a great way to make money with high leveled alchemy items ( using grand soul gem on any gear with Alchemy Enchantment it will be 13% better also Alchemy skill tree will create stronger potions , making them worth more) (today I collected all the minerals I had and made alot of potions, leveled up 3 times and made $24,000 gold through selling my potions and I still have more left got bored selling , Rarer potions sell more.

I never used alchemy in skyrim alot (i never bothered to use it after using it a few times) and then i found how op alchemy can be.
So i am not using it in a "fair" playthrough
The most effective way to make money that I've done is selling stuff to guild vendors. Couple of my characters are sitting with nearly 1 million coins thanks to that
There is only 2 ways to making money brewing potions or enchanting items

A weird thing about the challenger is that he’ll use the unique dialogue even if you use bound weapons despite you casting a spell to attack him.
Seems obvious to me that Kematu is tellinng the truth. Throughout the quest he shows no hostility toward either the player or Saadia, other than paralyzing her so he can take her back to Hammerfell. He shows no sign of dishonesty and is displeased if Saadia is killed. On the other hand, the first thing Saadia does when you meet her is draw a dagger and threaten to attack you, even though you're a complete stranger, likely not Alik'r, and took it upon yourself to warn her they're looking for someone fitting her description.
Yeah I guess you're right... dam I've made a mistake 😭 On the other hand, Saadia may have attacked you because she was afraid (you know persecution mania or smth). And Kematu might want her alive, yes, but we don't really know if that's because he wants to take her to Hammerfel for a fair trial. He could just lie and actually wants to take her to the boss... In this case, we might be fooled by appearances. We would wrongly trust someone who is sympathetic rather than someone who is aggressive. (Almost every serial killer seems to be sympathetic, kind and polite, lmao) :) Good analysis tho
@@luminaratano3935 - Certainly, the script could be flipped, but all we can base our decision on is the evidence presented. If they were real people, we could look deeper and investigate their natures and intentions in other ways. In a video game, we can only work with what we're given. Also, I can't help notice Saadia doesn't protest her innocence once confronted by Kematu. She gets mad at you, he says she couldn't keep hiding forever. As he's casting the binding spell, she has plenty of time to speak up and says nothing. I side with Kematu because the evidence, as presented, indicates more strongly in his favour.
The potion thing reminds me of Morrowind, which had a crazy exploitable alchemy system. By boosting intelligence you could make increasingly more powerful potions. You can boost your athletic skills so that you can run from one end of the map to the other in ten seconds, or your acrobatics so you can jump so high it'll take hours to land. It's actually really frustrating because you can end up stuck with an effect for a thousand in-game years because of the potion's duration also being boosted, and the game is unplayable if you move so fast you can't control where you end up.
And that's why super speed potions/spells should have a slow time effect.

I know but I get distracted by other stuff on the map. And when I reach level 25-35 I usually lose interest in my current playstyle and start and new character a few months later.^^

I did in the game I'm playing right now. Raised my destruction to level 50 before ustengrav went to riverwood and there he was. I lowered his health to 50% and he pulled out a dagger so I pulled out my trusty ebony war axe and beheaded him. Cheaters never win

I even go to Bleak Falls Barrow the first thing I do when I start a new game. This way I do not have to go to Whiterun back and forth.
I guess this is commonly known but I only found out about it by reading outside of the game because I did everything else before finishing the main quest: If you haven't conquered whiterun for any side of the civil war before you need to capture odahviing you can actually negotiate a temporary truce in the quest 'season unending' in which you can among other things change control of some areas. Maybe it's worth mentioning this in your series?
A note on the quest In My Time of Need. If you decide to turn in Saadia to Kematu, and he tells you that she won't be harmed, later after they are gone, if you go into the hall of the dead in Whiterun, you will find an urn labeled as Saadias ashes. Ultimately confirming that Kematu was lying.
Couldn't that mean she was transported safely, then was sentenced to death?
Is it somehow relevant to any of your series, that when you shoot objects like benches with a bow that has a soul steal enchantment they glow purple for quite some time?

Saadia is guilty in my eyes for a couple of reasons
1. She lies about who she is
2. She came to skyrim which has thalmor everywhere
3.keamute only paralyzes her and reacts super negatively ig you kill her as if she's a person of importance.
4. After turning her in I've always had thalmor agents attack me with a note saying I compromised one of their agents.
4. I have never see that happen before at all.
And when you do hand in saadia to kematu, you can find her body in the hall of the dead in whiterun
iSham2044 well it could be a random encounter triggered by siding against her. As for her being in the hall of the dead that may be a glitch or she faced her trial and was found guilty, thus executed. Since she was a traitor they may even refuse to allow her to be buried in Hammerfell and sent her remains to Whiterun. Though yeah it's probably just a Bethesda mistake.
Her body being in the hall of the dead is probably a Bethesda mistake. Perhaps she gets marked as dead to stop her from walking around in Whiterun after the quest, and because she's a Whiterun inhabitant, someone who didn't know her story might have given her a place in the hall of the dead. In any case, I find the idea that her body would just be handed over to Whiterun by the Alik'r after having killed her dishonestly just as, if not more unlikely than the idea that she was taken to court in Hammerfell, found guilty, executed, and then buried in Whiterun. That said, I'm not entirely convinced either way, and am open to arguments.

It depends on my character type whether I kill them or turn her in. If I'm doing a morally positive character, I turn her in. If my character is either evil or a morally nuetral mercenary who has no value for right, wrong, truth, or justice and just wants money for the first set job he's sent, I kill them all and get the small amount of exp. I can. Haha
the fortify alchemy glitch is one of the most widely known glitches to be honest, anyways nice to put it in a video so more ppl will know

Yes ! I am starting to fix that by replaying Skyrim one more time this time trying stuff i always ignored.
Especially if you play with 100+ mods , new lands , quests etc , hell vanila Skyrim is so huge but with mods it's insane ! Some mods like Falskaar , Wheels of Lull have lot lore and play time.One thing i hate ... CARRY WEIGHT , why is it so limited .. i just want to take all the sufff :

Nate!! If your skills are high enough when you get to Farengar, and you talk to him before Balgruf introduces you, you can put him in his place for being so arrogant. For example, if your destruction skill is high enough you get the option to say something about Rune spells. This is only if you get to him before Balgruf does and you tell him you're there to help.
You can take Kematu's reward, kill him, use a calm spell on Saadia, then take a reward from her(backstabbing her is optional at the end)

You can use the clear skies shout to remove rain and blizzards.

Ugh. I wonder how Boethiah actually feels about these idiots who claim to know his/her will. "We worship Boethiah... so we run around challenging everyone to duels, whether they want to participate or not. That is the will of Boethiah!" No wonder s/he has you kill everyone.
Armor actually caps the damage reduction you can get after a certain armor value, maxed out at 85% of damage taken.
That's when you use the glitch to make really powerful potions of enchanting, enchant something with a healing enchant and you'll never take damage again
IosefKoranison Which is actually what I do. Health Regen + 1,000,000% is usually where I stop, and then I use some mods to make enemies a little more challenging in general, but either way I never see my health bar move, because even if I take almost lethal damage, the bar doesn’t show it as I Regen it instantly. Just dump all of my level ups into health and stamina and become the ultimate tank.
Also as a side note, the Blocking Skill and Fortify Blocking enchantment are not capped like the armor value, so you will actually be able to resist any damage taken if you fortify blocking through the glitch, which I have used to make a challenge run on the game, where enemies will do a lot more damage, but if I block I will never take any of it, making it a lot more challenging and making the blocking mechanic feel like it is actually worth using...
I always get the dragon stone first. Getting to the fun right away!
