    We have the same filters! ND 4 is my go to filter, but use clear if night flying. Very rarely do I change them out.

    I don't use the ND Filter in that way, my ISO and my shutterspeed are always the same whatever my flights ISO 100 shutterspeed 120 ~ 50, i just pick up the good ND filter for correcting my EV in that situation :)
    Great channel you have!

    Hello,
    what a great video!
    I have a phantom 3 adv, still learning how it works. I have a PL filter on its way from China, however, I think I need to buy a ND filter as well. I live in Rio de Janeiro, I think the most common landscapes I will be shooting videos e photos are beaches, sunny weathers etc...What would you suggest my friend?
    Thanks, Renan

      Hey Renan,
      For your needs you will be well prepared with ND8 and N16 , in some situations ND32.
      For detailed informations about the ND Filters i can suggest you the article on our website - bit.ly/2kXwWuY

    Thanks for the well explained video!!!
    But I still have a question, and I`ll be glad if can answer it...
    In the cenario that you installed you nd16 (or any other else actually) and you're taking your footage videos.... in the middle of your footage you want to take some photos.... does the ND will prevent to take a nice photo? or it's just a matter to set the best shutter speed? I'm just concerned that I may need to use like 60 on shutter speed and get blur images, if the mavic is not 100% stationary....
    did you have the chance to test this scenario???
    Thanks mate!!!!
    appreciate your help!!!!

    Do nx filters actually make a difference to rolling shutter ( jello)

  • @rickzilla09
    @rickzilla09 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    how do these compare to the cinema series?

  • @nerys71
    @nerys71 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    honest question. why would a filter have any impact at all on jello which is a physical property of the sensor and multi ?

    • @fredriklundh7649
      @fredriklundh7649 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The jello effect comes from a combination of the way the sensor is read and the exposure time. In bright sunlight the camera chooses maybe 1/800th of a second exposure time. During this time the image changes a little as every line is read.
      With a suitable ND filter the exposure is perhaps 1/100th of a second. In this time the image changes a lot more as the lines are read, giving you motion blur instead of jello.

    • @nerys71
      @nerys71 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ahhh so your forcing a shutter speed change. OK that does make sense. wait I just reread your post. you said 1/100th. now to my understand the way jello works is like this. place your hand on a flat bed scanner. hit scan. now move your hand while its scanning. jello.
      a CCD reads a dump of the whole sensor at once (for the purpose of this discussion) while a CMOS sensor reads the data line by line as its being made. read it slow enough and you can see things move between scanning the first few lines and the next few lines.
      high speed harmonics usually do this (such as rotor blades spinning)
      so a SLOWER shutter speed should make the jello worse since your reading the sensor more slowly ???

    • @javiemontoy1
      @javiemontoy1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +UnlimiteDrone awesome... I appreciate the response... So I've done some editing thru iMovie. Definitely not to that caliber that I've seen on some others videos, but what programs would you recommend for video editing?

    Shutter speed?

  • @adamkts8576
    @adamkts8576 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So if you had to choose just ONE of them.. (the most versatile) Which one?

    • @unlimitedrone1680
      @unlimitedrone1680  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm for me it would be ND16 but it depends on the location you fly

    • @adamkts8576
      @adamkts8576 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for answer! So I will consider ND8 or ND16. It is a central europe (CZ), sometimes sunny, sometimes gloomy.. However I film mostly at golden hour.

    • @whatevah
      @whatevah 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The video didn't properly address the reason for ND filters. ND filters are nothing more than sunglasses... they lower the amount of light reaching the sensor, allowing you to use a slower shutter speed. For smoother video, you want a shutter speed around double your framerate. So, typically the 1/50-1/60 range. On sunny days, that would result in overexposed video. Otherwise, you have to use a fast shutter speed to compensate, which gives a "stiff" feel to the video. Get all 3 ND filters, you can skip the polarizer unless you know you need it.
