I left because I was SA’d, found out the church lied about everything, and unintentionally found pagan friends who practice all the same stuff as they do in the Mormon church. Now I am Christian.

I’m sorry for your experience. I know that must have been hard. It’s difficult for me to rationalize the idea that “the church” lied about anything. Simply because we can’t quantify what anyone means by “the church” are you referring to your local leaders? Or rather the prophet? The pagan belief system is nothing like The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Saying that we practice all the same things is misleading to others. I am so glad you continue to choose to have Jesus in your life! A lot of people simply abandon everything all together. That’s what I did when I left. May I ask what denomination you’re a part of now?

@@444tam I am non denominational. The church was the one at fault through their broken system. Wish that weren’t the case but it is. And unfortunately the pagan beliefs that began the church still exist within it today and are practiced in every outlet. That is just a fact; not intended to be hurtful just simple fact.
The system of the church places abusers as having more important priority of protections over those who are abused. Their lawyer system (bishops hotline,) is setup that way and there is plenty of documentation to back up those claims. I am glad you still believe in God. I caution you to read the Bible as a closed canon.

The church “system” may not be perfect as it is dealing directly with imperfect people, but it’s not broken. If my car doesn’t start because I don’t turn the key all the way is it broken? No, my brother took the key and started the car just fine. We need to identify where we are when we stop searching for truth. Are we comfortable? I pray I am never comfortable with myself again until I am perfected through Christ. There is no denying the divine that exists within the church. Especially found in The Book of Mormon.
Paganism within the church is not a fact, I know as I’ve been on both sides- that things I have viewed as facts change as I grow and learn more. It is through the lens in which you choose to view things.
I believe it is very easy to see the negative in what an institution or individual does if that is all you are willing to see. The fact of the matter is the church helps people, it changes people. The helpline may not be perfect but to view the different sources and perspectives told by the collective and come to the conclusion that the church’s main interest is that of protecting itself and not caring for those who are harmed is disturbing.
If all I had to rely on to testify of Jesus Christ was the Bible I would not be Christian. The idea of Sola scriptura has no basis and only attempts to limit God to the Bible.

@@444tam the helpline is directly established to protect the church with no regard for its victims. No matter how you try to explain that away it is intentionally designed this way.
And I don’t think you’re being authentic to say you’ve been on both sides. I have pagan friends, who were raised that way. They practice this and have their entire lives.
Carry on what you believe, just don’t pretend that the church doesn’t do these things or isn’t of these things when it has and always will be. Objective facts don’t have to be offensive or wrong. They’re objective.
In your own statement you imply that it is the fault of the person viewing that makes them wrong when it comes to any church doctrine. And the Book of Mormon is, by all accounts, a purely made-up fantasy book. In no way does it hold any historical or factual value and anyone but church officials or Mormon historians will tell you that.
Soma scriptura has a basis. You just won’t try to read the Bible as a closed canon because it would betray what you believe to be loyalty to the church.

@@kittiemarie1235 Sorry kittiemarie, sola scriptura has absolutely no support in the biblical texts and is a later invention of Protestant "Christians".
