That was the best review for the MM300 out there. Totally agreed with the plusses and minuses of what you mentioned. Other than that the watch is superior in every aspect. Cheers.

Dibyojyoti Mukherjee then you can pull it. Watches on wrist view look larger than they do from third person too, so how you see it on my wrist, looks bigger than when you see it from say few meters away.
Do checkout my newer review on blue dial too where I’ve shared clips from third person’s perspective.

I'm of the (very) few that actually appreciates the adjustable clasp. My sizing will subtly change pre and post workout (as well as hiking at altitude), having plenty of other watches with rubber and Zulu straps, I've grown quite fond of this particular steel bracelet being to adapt to what the day brings.

Another great upload ! Really glad I found your channel. Just want to share my experience on this piece. First of all, this is one of my fav diver's watch that i've owned. However, it's sad to say that the watch is no longer in my collection due to several bad experiences with it. Lucky you, you've got a unit with great accuracy of +1 ever 2 days ! On my unit, I'm averaging at -15 seconds per day worn, and -8 seconds per day unworn. When i send it back to the service center, they claim that it is within their tolerances and will try to send in for warranty claim nevertheless. However, they advice that I continue wearing the watch instead and just send the watch in for a full service under warranty claim when it is reaching its end of warranty as it will take 4 months to service (it needs to be sent back to Japan). I've decided to live with it back then and 3 weeks down the road, the bezel got stuck and difficult to turn. I have to say that i'm just a desk diver and keep my watch extremely clean everyday. That being said, I sent it back to service center again and the watchmaker fixed it under 30 mins, telling me that its the bezel lube that dried up and probably caused by Malaysian weather. Went back, and the bezel got jammed up again after 3 days. I've lost confidence of this watch since then, and sold the watch short after. Nonetheless, this is a great watch to admire visually and also it felt like a solid tank on the wrist ! Lume is superb but the flaws within and the rough second hand really puts me off. I still love the look of it now and really hope that seiko will one day UP their game on this.

Thanks so much mate for subscribing to channel and watching the video.
It’s a shame you’ve had such a terrible experience. And to be honest, like I said in the video, seiko should really pay more attention to even the basic manufacturing, let aside the quality issues, for the price they’re asking.
Mine is, yeah keeping very well time so maybe I got lucky.
Reading your message, it also seems the watch has reliability issues. I haven’t used it long enough to comment on it but it’s a shame you’ve had to go through so much pain.
I just hope it was only your piece that was faulty and mm300 as a whole aren’t that bad given that I haven’t heard such reviews before. Regardless, this doesn’t discount your experience and trouble.
      Thanks again for watching :)

Great review and yes you uncovered the secrets why it wears small.
I have a SPB079, mm200 and it's also around 44mm but yet wears much smaller than a turtle at 45mm.
The bezel is smaller than the actual diameter of the watch and the true diameter is hidden by it's polished flanks which blends in with ones wrist just leaving the bezel to view.
Also the last 2 mm at the end of the lugs are polished too and have the same effect. MM300 is on my radar. Thank you brother..

Started getting back into Seiko and watch collecting recently and really appreciated your review. I was shocked by how small the MM300 and MM200 reduced are and how they wear even when compared to my Omega Seamaster Chrono which measures smaller. I wanted to love the MM300 but on my 7.5 inch wrist the lug to lug and width seem too small and then its so thick forget wearing it under any sleve. As a pure diver its rightfully iconic and superb quality, as a daily diver I would put well down the list of Seikos to consider.

    • @HarryFlashmanVC
      @HarryFlashmanVC ปีที่แล้ว

I have a 7.5 inch wrist and would disagree, I find the watch hugs my wrist, especially on the oem bracelet which I think is under rated and I suspect suffers from not being properly set up, the large links require the 12 side to be longer than the 6 side so the clasp sits in the correct position.
Yes it's a high watch but I don't find an issue with cuffs. Besides, as a diver it's better suited for situations where a formal cuff isn't being worn.

Thanks for the excellent review. I bought an MM300, the cheaper Hardlex version, 3 years ago, and I found it played too small on my 8-inch wrist; however, I am tempted to get the new midnight blue version; just don't know if I want to spend $2.8K on it. Thank you for explaining how the dial within the dial makes it play smaller.

    • @HafizJMehmood
      @HafizJMehmood  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks so much for watching. The midnight blue looks really beautiful. I was trading to get hold of one to review but looking at the price, I’m myself reluctant a bit. But that’s purely because I also have the green sla too so can’t justify to add another one.
They’re a bit more expensive than they should be tbh, and that’s really because of not so accurate timekeeping and other minor details that I talked about in my video. Unless I’m chasing a tudor or speedmaster, which are still a bit more expensive, I think this is still a winner.

I bought one last month, wearing it is a very different experience from wearing other watches at this price point. It presents an issue for watch collectors because you end up wearing the MM300 all the time. Just because, apart from formal, it is just so easy to wear. I've been guilty of wearing it in scenarios where I would normally wear a Gshock or Elliot Brown I find myself wearing the MM. It's picked up a few scratches but I don't really mind this at all.
The one thing I am concerned about will be the servicing.
Bracelet: I actually find it very comfortable, ok it's a Seiko bracelet but it works fine on my 7.5 inch wrist. I pre ordered a Strapcode Jubilee but I find myself wearing it on stock bracelet.
I don't find the extension activates when I open the bracelet, in fact, my one isn't that easy to activate as an extension.
The watch wears best and most comfortably on a quality 3rd party tropic or waffle strap.
My one is accurate within a second as well.
I'm now considering selling my other divers. It's essentially the perfect luxury dive/tool watch for my needs.

    Nice video
As a diver ,and still use a watch as a backup.
The bracelet is fine for its intended use,to open and close with the compression at depth. The adjustment is a bit to be desired with the little collets half way through strap,I'm sure they are up to the job though.
The rubber ones are good although the weak point is the buckle spring bar.
Mine i have replaced with a zulu heavy duty strap ,no chance of losing it anymore even with a spring bar failure, not much chance as the bars are very strong on watch.
As for time keeping mine gains few seconds a day.
Not really bothered about that or the misalignment, luckily mine is fine.
Otherwise its a great watch and wish i could have a blue, green, model to.

I have been wearing Marinemasters for over 15 years I currently have three SLA059 023 and 021 and a little trick I learned years ago by mistake changed my view on the bracelet , simply reverse the bracelet and two things happen , it’s actually a more natural move to open and it will be the last time you activate the extension , give it a shot

Excellent review that well expresses the allure of this watch, that even its imperfections become part of the seduction. Not saying it is better than Rolex but it certainly is not as boring as its swiss competitors. It also holds up very well to the debate regarding whether it might be the better tool for the job (i.e., sat diving, its rigors and context).

The biggest blander seiko made was to remove the marinemaster off the watch. They had a legend sub competitor in the making and they discard it along with all the history they build over the past sixty years. A new high quality bracelet, a regulated 8L35 movement and put back the marinemaster name, and sell it at $3500, you have a huge winner on hand.

I have been watching your reviews, really really great, thank you. Would you be so kind as you give me your thoughts between this and the Grand Seiko SBGA231 as to its wearability aspect. Would you consider them very similar on 6.5” wrist size.
I have notifications on for the first time after watching your reviews.

does sla021 have a ceramic bezel? I see some sites market it as a ceramic bezel but on seiko's website it says stainless steel bezel for the black version and ceramics for the green and blue version. It really confuses me.

Yeah the new sla21/23/19 have ceramic bezel for sure. The bezel holder is steel which is similar to rolex.

I dont think it has the zaratsu polishing. I havent found any literature online that states that. And I own a marinemaster and the polishing doesnt look like that on a grand seiko. If you have a source please provide. I would like to know. Thank you.

Well all I know is that the engine room crew where Afridis, Jarzi's and Waziris from around Landikotal. A very interesting part of my life at that time. The Serang told me that when threw went on leave they became Dacoits and Badmash, holding up buses going through the Cyber Pass. They also had a side line in making fully functioning guns "btnduks"

I personaly do not find seiko,s move to replace the word marinemaster with the prospex X wrong. You said it yourself. We all know it is the marinemaster. The watch is iconic and recognizable and marinemaster is its nickname, which stuck. There is no need to keep the nickname on the dial. There is no submariner or seamaster on the dial of rolexes or omegas. What I think was a wrong move was to remove the lume pip.

    • @MB-ot3vb

    Great review Hafiz!
Seiko are bonkers they're deliberately trying to annoy people by getting rid of the Marine Master name! Like you said, they had been doing their image a great deal of good and then ruin things by putting the prospecs logo on there, I don't mind it on my turtle but I don't want it on my MM!! 😨

Great review, great macro! Totally agree about the Marinemaster/Prospex branding. Madness from Seiko. Prospex branding on a watch this expensive is crazy - it looks cheap. But a beautiful tool watch nonetheless. Some finishing is poor though. Those hands aren't great, neither the hour markers. Not as good as Omega and this watch is nearly as expensive as a Diver Professional 300. Not a Patch on GS. The bracelet also is nowhere near Omega standards. Like the old MM300, this is really a sub-$2000 watch, not a $3000 one.
