I remember my middle school health teacher said that acne is caused by not washing enough and that all you need to take care of your skin is soap and water. I think back on that and cringe, if I washed my face with bar soap and didn't moisturize, it would ruin my sensitive, dry skin.
Yeah lots of people are ignorant about acne and think that they know it all. They are usually just genetically privileged without acne in the first place 😞

the attention span thing is REAL. I'd always recommend my friends to watch youtube videos or read articles more in depth about skincare, and most responses fell along the lines of "I don't have the patience"

Proper leaf blowing (here in Tennessee) is you blow the leaves, then mow over them to mulch them up in your yard. Likewise - they can be used up on the roof to blow out your gutters. Also, if you blow dust/etc off your patio as it begins to rain, you can clear but not have so much dust in the air.
That makes more sense then just blowing it on someone else’s lawn or the street
Mississippi here-we have a large deck and pine trees all over. We use the leaf blower to clean off the pine needles from the deck into our yard-not the neighbor’s. Much more efficient than a broom!

That's what we do sometimes. We also blow them down into the street and our township comes by and vacuums them up several times each fall.

Ahaha this "leaf blower" convo! I died! I'm from a third world country, leaf blowers here are seen as "rich lazy people gadget": totally odd, wasteful, noisy, unnecessary, and silly looking 🤣 if someone in the neighborhood pulls out one, he'd instantly have folks yelling "grab the damn rake and DO some arm exercise, fool!" 🙈

I'm from Europe and we see leaf blowers the same way. It's a thing for people who are rich but stupid, snobby and very unlikeable.
The ones that are so noisy are the gas-powered ones! The electric ones have a cord to contend with, so people don’t like them. I’ve run stables for much of my life, and actually LIKE raking!

i agree it is definitely seen as a ruling class "toy" but please keep in mind that many gadgets like that can help disabled people who otherwise might not be able to rake or afford regular yard maintenance. sometimes we can get gifts from people/organizations to make life easier but that doesn't automatically mean we are rich/lazy. however i do agree it is typically rich people who have them for sure!
edit: let's just abolish lawns and solve the problem for everyone 😉

I think you hit the nail in the head Dr Dray when you said "think critically".At the same time when people do not have all the information or are operating in a vacuums of valid scientifically proven information, then it is nearly impossible to think critically. I know because I used to use high end face scrubs until I came across your channel. After listening to you and reading pub med articles I am able to think critically when it comes to my skin. But had I not come across your channel I may have still used those excessively expensive scrubs and products to the detriment of my stratum corneum. I believe the issue is how we source our information and validate it and TiKToK is not a known source of scientifically valid data 😉

I use a leaf blower to get leaves out of hard to reach places but I still rake up my leaves and bag them. I would never blow my leaves into someone else's yard, that is just plain rude and lazy.
In NY we blow leaves into a pile and bag them. I can’t imagine just blowing them willy nilly.
We do too! Here in Michigan in our yard we blow our leaves in a pile & bag them,we live in a rural area. We live on a river,sometimes they fly into,but that's okay,they go out to the lake.I think anybody that buys a leaf blower uses it respectfully.
They do pick them up here, she needs to report them to the city bc they are suppose to
Same here and I also live in NYC. We collect ours and compost them in the back yard but the city also collects them for compost in the fall.
Same dnd I live in IL. You have to bag up leaves and pay for a sticker. Several times a year on certain days you can blow it to the street and they pick it up but it’s very specific.

It happens here bc so many people are living in houses too small for their family, and have converted a portion of the garage into a bedroom or home office! Many houses are shared by 2-3 families here in Silicon Valley, also, due to the fact that rents and mortgage payments are so high. We were *very* fortunate to have stayed in our previous home for 26 years before selling it; we were then able to buy a larger home on a larger lot for less money.
The thing with the short attention span is really true. I noticed on myself that I'm often getting restless and that I couldn't read long books like I used to. So I decided to pick up new hobbies that are all about patience and I can say that it feels satisfying to actually have to wait for gratification for once.
My chemistry teacher in 8th grade told the whole class over and over to ditch over the counter skincare for acne and use a potato or tomato compress instead to treat breakouts udyfyufve

OMG my 9th grade algebra teacher was also the PE teacher and coach of one of the sports teams, lol!! (and I'm pretty sure he babysat an art class one year too.) He called everyone by their last names and wasn't terribly patient in explaining abstract concepts, hence the only D I ever received in school.

Leaf blowers are kind of like a broom for hard floors, rather then picking up individual crumbs, it easier to sweep (blow) them into one pile, then pick it up all at once.
@W W 🤣 my mom does this! She’s disabled and the repetitive motion of sweeping and mopping is very painful. She uses leaf blower to tidy up. :)

Omg, so true about the micro second attention span. There was a video of a sweet old guy telling people a specific food that can help with lowering blood pressure and the video was ONLY 7 mins. People in the comments were so rude and saying “get to the point” and putting time stamps so people can skip the whole video and complaining. He took his time to make that video and put it on TH-cam and it wasn’t appreciated. People acted like he wasted their time with only a 7 min video!

I miss Which Wich, too! We had one very near where I live and it closed down over a year ago now. Favorite sandwich place ever.
Our yard is fenced in, so we use the leaf blower to sort-of corral all the leaves into the corners of the yard, makes it so much easier to bag in the fall. We also blow dirt out of the garage instead of sweeping. But we also have a neighbor who, right after she mows her yard, blows all her clippings into other yards, basically spreading all her weeds around!

I have never been good at math and did not understand anything in my geometry class. I failed that class. I was a mostly A and B student too. Math is hard! Lol. But geometry is also a very different kind of math.

Team anti leaf blower just because of the noise.
But my condo association’s landscaping crew uses them to move the leaves and trash off the rocks from the hard scraping and away from our doors and then rakes them up into bags. So I can’t complain too much.
You’re so brave to watch TicTok. I refuse to let myself watch it. I know I’ll get sucked in and I am determined to avoid that! Also people are so dumb on there (from what my friends and family show me).

I love this school rant 😂 My chemistry teacher taught us how to make mayonnaise and homemade wine, but only because we have nothing to do, we did everything quicker than we should, so we had free time. Another chemistry teacher was teaching us about cosmetics, to not use scrubs, what cosmetics are good for what, and it's just because we were able to choose part of curriculum. Those were strange years 😂
I am team anti-leave blower. My maintenance man always wakes me up with it in the spring/fall. And tiktok, don't even get me started. I honestly think it should be outlawed the amount of problems it causes!
