Thank you for such a lovely comment Pete & Su. Caravanning makes us feel extra happy and it’s good to hear our enjoyment shines through 👍. We look forward to our annual Cumbrian holiday and never tire of its beauty. Luckily we usually get good weather when we visit in September and we didn’t do too bad apart from the storm which we actually enjoyed 😄. We walked up the old man three years ago when we stayed at Pier Cottage caravan park and saw a couple of mothers with babies on their backs. Been up twice now, stunning views. Ah yes Daisy, Gail Google searched and was very disappointed she didn’t stroke the friendly inquisitive cows who happily didn’t fear us and simply came to say hello. By the way we love Skegness . Hi there, Agree good touring pitches and lots of choice for pitching a tent too 👍. The village was a very pleasant surprise. All in all a brilliant holiday. Thanks for your comment and all the best, Rob & Gail 😀
Hi Rob & Gail, your car always looks immaculate and we can see why now 😊. Another informative video and a lovely looking site, great price for your FS pitch. Do you prefer full service? 😂. We have yet to take the caravan to the Lake District but I think we will need to bite the bullet, lovely area with nice pubs & yea rooms. Thanks for sharing. Helen & Dave 👍
Hi there Dave & Helen, Yes I do like to go on holiday knowing my car is all nice and clean 😅 and it doesn’t go unnoticed that you do too. Hawkshead Hall was a peaceful relaxing site baaa for the poor sheep when they were separated. We thought it a good price for the Lake District ,fully serviced as well, just for a change 😂. Bit of a trek from Caister for you but a real change of scenery and lots of lovely strolls for Bella 👍. All the best to you both, Rob & Gail
Hi there Graeme, Thanks for joining us again. We are pleased you enjoyed watching our tour of Hawkshead and surrounding area. We’re so lucky to have such beautiful landscapes and interesting places to visit, it was a pleasure to film 👍. Kind regards, Rob & Gail 😀
Good afternoon Rob and Gail another great video , I love the Lake District but I’ve only been the once when I was 20 , 34years ago . Rob that Audi looks fantastic it’s a credit to you. I have just booked a seasonal pitch for next year, at sunny oak caravan park near Whitchurch, we decided to book a seasonal pitch as it’s a lot easier with having 3 border collies running a muck when trying to set the van up . I hope you are both well , and I must say Gail with her matching sunglasses and top did make me smile, take care All the best Phil
Hello there Phil hope you are good. We’ve just had a look at Sunny Oak and it looks very nice 👍 , we like Whitchurch area. We love the Lake District too and have visited many times and never tire of it. Thank you for all your compliments. I always go a bit overboard with the car cleaning regime before we go away as it lifts my spirits knowing we’re on holiday and not going to work for a week 😀. Yes you could see Gail coming a mile away in those sun glasses 🤣, it’s made her smile too ! Best regards to you, Rob & Gail
Hi there Andrew, Thank you very much for your comment 👍. There was so much to see and do locally we ran out of time, so you are quite right in saying Hawkshead is a good base for a holiday. We had forgotten just how nice the village was and we always enjoy our holidays in the Lake District. All the best, Rob & Gail 😀

Great video, really enjoy your detailed reviews and amazed at how polite your SatNav is! We shall think about staying here in our motorhome when next in the lakes. keep up the good work, all the best, Zoe.
Hi there Zoe and Malish, You’re the first to mention our polite sat nav, she always says please and is very well mannered too 😂. Hawkshead Hall was very nice and we would stay there again. Lots of walks for Keeva. Thanks for tuning in 👍 and kindest regards to you, Rob & Gail. By the way good job with the locker door revamp, very nice. 😀
Thanks to your video we've just pitched up here for three nights. Lovely site, quiet and scenic so thanks for recommendation. Plenty of lovely shops and cafes within walking distance Just for anyone wishing to stay here, pitches are fully serviced but some pitches require extra long grey waste pipes. Good tv reception if you get sick of the beautiful scenery!
This is the feedback we like to hear Cas 👍. Thank you for letting us know and we hope you have a wonderful stay. We enjoyed filming it all and are pleased it’s inspired you to be there. Kind regards, Rob & Gail 😀
Brilliant film x however just how much chocolate did you dribble on a brand new white shirt 😂 mine would've lasted about 30 seconds 😂😂 great film keep it up we both love seeing you and love your explanations xx the best xx Steve and Gail

Can't wait for husband Robin to get home later so we can watch your vlog together . I've just had a sneaky look so don't tell him . Always enjoy your vlogs 😊
Hope this video doesn’t disappoint you both 😀. It’s really great to know you follow us on our travels, so thank you for your continued support 👍. Very best regards to you both, Rob & Gail
Hi Rob and Gail 😊 Wonderful to see you both back with a vlog. Very informative about the area, never heard of Hawkshead before this, looks really nice 👍. The site looks really well kept and level, services seemed abit far from the van though. How many cows can Gail want to take home bless 😁 Well I've commented for Long enough 😅. If you get chance please give Hawes a try, lovely site. Take care both Paul and Joanne 👍 🥰
Hi there Paul & Joanne and thank you for your welcoming comment. We feel refreshed and revived after taking in the mountain air and a change of scenery 😄. Beautiful scenery it was too and Hawkshead is such a charming village. We’d go back ✅. The cows were so docile and friendly and we thought they were charging us 🤔. Gail regrets not stroking them. Hawes is definitely on our ever growing to ‘go to’ list. Many thanks as ever for sticking by us 👍. Our very best regards to you both, Rob & Gail
@robswiseways5697 Thanks for your lovely reply, You will Hawes its location and walks, one of our favourites 😍. Sticking by you both is a pleasure as are your vlogs to watch 😊 P and J 😁
Loved your vlog Rob & Gail - we love how you always show great walks direct from site. We have stayed at Hawkshead but followed Garmin .. big mistake 😂 ended up on a ferry and some really narrow roads with an 8ft caravan 😅. Keep your vlogs coming both as we really enjoy watching them. You are both so lovely and it’s always great hearing you talk to all the animals too ❤, cheers, John & Debs
Thank you for your wonderful comment and for showing your appreciation, it means a lot to us 👍. We enjoy sharing our treks and adventures and of course a good old tour of the sites we stay on. Showing our walks via the map is proving popular and we always seem to find something to feed or make a fuss of along the way. Your visit to Hawkshead turned into a not so magical mystery tour, very frustrating for you. In your sat nav can you select a different setting rather than fastest or shortest route ? I have an econ option which selects main routes where possible. All the best to you John and Debs, 😀Rob and Gail
@@robswiseways5697 yes we really enjoy you showing your walks on the maps - we try to use them but not always with success as we get a bit lost 😂🤣 We’ve gone into settings on garmin and have selected avoid ferries so fingers crossed this will help us in the future 😁. We have started to rely on google maps more so now - think we have econ settings on our sat nav so maybe we should choose this option when we go on caravan holidays 👍. Many thanks for the advice - very much appreciated and we look forward to seeing you both on your next adventures 😄 take good care
@@johndebsconnolly1550 Thanks and you take care too. By the way we’ve lost our way walking on a couple of occasions due to lack of markers, so you’re not on your own 😂.
Ha ha 🤣 , yes I do go a bit overboard Colin. Always like to travel with a clean outfit. You’re probably aware I also carry a bucket and wash shampoo in the caravan locker too 😁. As always thanks for watching 👍 and best regards to you, Rob & Gail
Hi there Steve, Hope you’re keeping well and thanks for dropping by 👍. It’s a few years since we visited Hawkshead too and we’d forgotten what it was like. We really enjoyed it there and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Great place Cumbria 😀. All the very best to you, Rob & Gail
Hi Chris, Just had a look at Low Wray campsite. It doesn’t look like they accept caravans, no fully serviced pitches either so I’m afraid it’s not suitable for us. Does look a very nice place though and thank you for mentioning it 👍. Best regards, Rob & Gail 😀
Hi Gail, I’ve had a look at the CCC website but having trouble with the filter option for fully serviced pitches. Need to contact them before we make a decision 😀. Hope the swap works in your favour 👍. Best regards, Rob & Gail
Took a little time to navigate around the website I’m use to it now, it seems the grass pitches get snapped up leaving fully serviced available, win win so far 👍
We stayed a few times on the original site which was right opposite the village. The converted that to all statics and moved the touring site to whre you stayed.
Hello Don, That’s interesting, we weren’t aware of that. Took us 11 mins to walk into the village so not bad at all 👍. Less convenient I suppose during dark evenings, you would have to take a torch 😀. Thanks for watching and commenting. Kind regards, Rob & Gail
Hi Rob, me and my wife love watching your videos and find them interesting and entertaining. I have a question about your tow-car as I am currently looking for a new one. How have do you find it tows and how has it been reliability wise through your ownership.
Hi there, We’re pleased to hear you’re enjoying our videos. That’s made us happy 😃. I’ve been towing with the Audi A6 allroad 3.0 litre diesel for 10 and half years so that speaks volumes 👍. It tows effortlessly and that’s probably down to 240 ps and 500 Nm torque. I would always look at torque when choosing a tow car. The higher the better. I’ve had two problems in the last three years. The engine management system developed a problem but luckily this was covered under my extended Audi warranty. The second was the air suspension which cost us two cancelled holidays and an arm and a leg 😂. I’m still happy with it and not planning on changing yet. All the best, Rob & Gail
Yes a really quaint village Andy, we were pleasantly surprised. Well worth a visit next time you’re holidaying in the lakes 👍. Thank you for dropping by again and take care, Rob & Gail 😀
Hello Rob and Gail,, I just found you and are going through your site videos. Have you done a video on the OS maps you use? I've just looked at them. There are several different ones and also an app. What do you use and why? Thanks caroline
Hi Caroline and Daz, Welcome to our channel and thank you for dropping by. I haven’t done a video specifically on the maps but I use and show the Explorer paper maps in our touring videos after obtaining permission from Ordnance Survey. In each of our tour videos I show the map and map number to camera that I’ve used for that trip. The Explorer range is best for walkers as they show all the public rights of way, bridle ways etc. I don’t use the app because I prefer the paper version and it’s easier to show the routes we take in our videos. They also do a weather proof Active Map. I either purchase from OS direct or WHSmith online, whoever has the best deal. Hope this is of help to you. All the best, Rob & Gail 😀
Very good video mate, how did you find the road from Ambleside to the site? I found it quite tight in a motorhome and now we have a caravan, not sure I fancy it?
Hi Kev, Pleased you enjoyed our video 👍. There were a couple of narrow bits along the B5286 but otherwise I found it ok. Typical Lake District terrain but it doesn’t put us off visiting every year with the caravan. Cheers and all the best, Rob & Gail 😀
Hi Karl, It took us 11 minutes to walk the footpath from site to the centre of the village (See the video at 16 mins 5 secs where I describe in more detail). It’s about half mile drive to the village pay & display car park. Thanks very much for watching and all the best, Rob & Gail 😀
Hello Brian, We are surprised by your comment as we didn’t think it was overly priced for a fully serviced pitch in the Lake District. Just checked the caravan club Troutbeck site and a fully serviced pitch for Sept is £40.30 per night for two people. We paid £31.50 per night and had a brilliant stay there. We thought it was good value. Thanks very much for your input and best regards to you, Rob & Gail 😀😀

Hi, we recently decided to swop clubs for a change, looking forward to trying out the camping and caravan sites from Oct 😊
Thank you for that Gail, sounds our cup of tea 👍
Thanks for the reply Rob, good to hear your views on the A6, definitely a car to shortlist. Thanks👍
Not a village we’ve visited in a few breaks at Bowness. Looks nice
👍👍
Glad you enjoyed this one 👍. Cheers, Rob & Gail 😀
How far is the village from the campsite
Hi Karl, It took us 11 minutes to walk the footpath from site to the centre of the village (See the video at 16 mins 5 secs where I describe in more detail). It’s about half mile drive to the village pay & display car park. Thanks very much for watching and all the best, Rob & Gail 😀
Very expensive campsite, certainly won't be stayng there.
That's certainly not expensive for a serviced pitch
