As a resident of Southport (Birkdale) I think you have done the area proud with your film. The Miniature Engineering club, and adjacent Model Boat Club are open on Sundays and nearby Birkdale Village is a fantastic spot for food, drink and local produce. Well done, and glad you enjoyed your visit. 👍

Never been to Southport, must put it on our list. Would love to visit the sculptures on Crosby beach they look amazing. Weve stopped booking fully serviced pitches on CAMC sites as they are not always the best pitches and theres much more choice if we just go for EHU but fully serviced pitches are so much easier! We're definitely finding better value on independent sites and much better facilities.😊
Hello Carol and Stephen, great to know our video may influence you to visit Southport👍. It certainly kept us entertained. Although the sculptures have been on Crosby beach for 19 years we had no idea of their existence until someone mentioned them a few days prior to our holiday. So glad we were enlightened as they were amazing ! We too have always said the pricier serviced pitches are not necessarily in the best location and can often be found clustered around the facility block. Gail had a wonderful view of the ladies toilet door when we had our caravan door open 😂 She was not amused. We always stay on a mix of sites and will hopefully visit a serviced CL next trip with a view and a bit of breathing space in front ! All the best Rob & Gail 😀

Hi there Pete and Su, We had a super time at Southport. We explored all over and did lots 😁. We loved the amazing beaches. Trust you Sue 😂 but you made Gail smile. Model engineers miniature railway is apparently open Sundays. Eye Kettleby is one of our favourites. It’s a very relaxing place to spend 10 days especially with the weather you had. Great vlog! Very clear and well explained. I've never been to Southport but it looks pleasant enough. 😊 Once again I'm underwhelmed by the C&MC site. Top dollar for a site with nothing special. Were there TV plugs on the pitches? I've also heard that the wifi isn't that great there. The best thing appears to be the location itself!
Cheers Tommo and we’re pleased you enjoyed the vlog. We enjoyed exploring and found plenty to keep us occupied so can recommend a visit 👍. There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with the site, we just weren’t keen on the pitch itself and its lack of privacy. There wasn’t a TV hook up on the bollard but it didn’t require one with having such a good signal to the caravan aerial. Don’t know about Wi-Fi as we use the personal hotspot on our phone. Interesting vlog, thanks. We stayed at a pop-up campsite in Victoria Park. Absolutely loved it and so are going back to another pop up campsite at Waterside Lodge soon. The Botanical gardens are lovely.

Hi Rob & Gail we were at Southport camc site 5th to 7th july we have been twice this year and enjoy it there as we are able to walk into town plenty to see and do,shame the pier is closed they need 10 million pounds to repair it apparantly so could be shut a while. Weather wasn't that good when we last went so spoilt it a bit,but we are going back in september. Hope to see you again soon, you need to do more blogs me and hubby love watching you both, take care xx
Hi Julie, Just missed you by a few hours, but our paths may cross one day 😁. We found the site really handy to explore from too. Lots to see and take in on the walk into town and we liked that. Everyone is missing the pier, we certainly did and it’s a shame it will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Let’s hope the weather cheers up for you in September for your return visit. We like the East Yorkshire coast very much and you’ve been lucky with the weather. Hi Rob and Gail, great video once again and looks like we just missed you both. We went to Southport on the 30th June for 3 nights at the start of our 2 week tour. So glad you got to see Rotten Row in all its glory, it was so beautiful when we were there. We don’t book a service pitch at Southport as we are not keen on the openness of that area, we like it around pitch 17, a bit more sheltered. Safe travels and keep the videos coming. Fancy missing you Mel and Adrian by just a few days. That would have been a coincidence since we met at a club site one year ago this month 😁 . Rotten Row was certainly blooming lovely despite a battering from all that rain. Definitely worth a look at👍 by anyone staying at the site. Our pitch felt very exposed and we would have preferred one backing onto the hedges.We’ve got a clear rear washroom window ! The sheltered pitches are more favoured by us too. I live in Crosby Rob, and not being biased it's one of the best coastlines in the country, with the views over to North Wales and miles of beaches. We're away in our caravan in 2 weeks to a small farm near Shrewsbury. Can't wait!!

Brilliant information and remember the great sands and model village there as a kid. The shop arcade architecture reminds me of Llandudno and the pride, planning and common sense that went into everything. Yes, climate change on clear display, since recollections and adolescent memories, a lot more wind and not quite as sunny 👍

The site is brilliantly conveniently placed to see all Southport has to offer and we had fun exploring further afield. We wished the serviced pitches had been installed on the mature side of the site. Our pitch felt very exposed on all sides and we generally choose a pitch that backs onto hedges. We had no idea the pier was closed prior to booking. Gail had her old pennies in readiness too 💰 . There’s so much to see and do in the area and we enjoyed the holiday very much. Hawes is down on our list but we’re fully booked for this year. Another site under the radar if Harrogate Caravan Park. Adjacent to the show ground and ten minute safe walk to supermarket and bus stop into Harrogate or Wetherby. Plenty of great walks in this part of the world.

No it isn't. It is Barrow in Furness. Look on a good map a) IOM is 70 mile from Southport, and at street level the Horizon is only 50 mile away. b) From Southport the IOM bearing is about 30 degrees west Blackpool Stating it is IOM is an urban myth with many Sandgrounders (Locals)
@@arthurdent2900 Hello Arthur, OS maps are the best 👍. I’ve just checked and Black Combe stands 500 plus metres above Barrow in Furness. There is a trig point North East of Barrow in Furness, at Furness, which is a mere 156 metres above sea level. But you are correct it’s definitely not IOM. Great vlog! Very clear and well explained. I've never been to Southport but it looks pleasant enough. 😊 Once again I'm underwhelmed by the C&MC site. Top dollar for a site with nothing special. Were there TV plugs on the pitches? I've also heard that the wifi isn't that great there. The best thing appears to be the location itself!
Cheers Tommo and we’re pleased you enjoyed the vlog. We enjoyed exploring and found plenty to keep us occupied so can recommend a visit 👍. There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with the site, we just weren’t keen on the pitch itself and its lack of privacy. There wasn’t a TV hook up on the bollard but it didn’t require one with having such a good signal to the caravan aerial. Don’t know about Wi-Fi as we use the personal hotspot on our phone. Interesting vlog, thanks. We stayed at a pop-up campsite in Victoria Park. Absolutely loved it and so are going back to another pop up campsite at Waterside Lodge soon.
The Botanical gardens are lovely.

Hi Rob & Gail we were at Southport camc site 5th to 7th july we have been twice this year and enjoy it there as we are able to walk into town plenty to see and do,shame the pier is closed they need 10 million pounds to repair it apparantly so could be shut a while. Weather wasn't that good when we last went so spoilt it a bit,but we are going back in september. Hope to see you again soon, you need to do more blogs me and hubby love watching you both, take care xx
Hi Julie, Just missed you by a few hours, but our paths may cross one day 😁. We found the site really handy to explore from too. Lots to see and take in on the walk into town and we liked that. Everyone is missing the pier, we certainly did and it’s a shame it will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Let’s hope the weather cheers up for you in September for your return visit. We like the East Yorkshire coast very much and you’ve been lucky with the weather. Hi Rob and Gail, great video once again and looks like we just missed you both. We went to Southport on the 30th June for 3 nights at the start of our 2 week tour. So glad you got to see Rotten Row in all its glory, it was so beautiful when we were there. We don’t book a service pitch at Southport as we are not keen on the openness of that area, we like it around pitch 17, a bit more sheltered. Safe travels and keep the videos coming. Fancy missing you Mel and Adrian by just a few days. That would have been a coincidence since we met at a club site one year ago this month 😁 . Rotten Row was certainly blooming lovely despite a battering from all that rain. Definitely worth a look at👍 by anyone staying at the site. Our pitch felt very exposed and we would have preferred one backing onto the hedges.We’ve got a clear rear washroom window ! The sheltered pitches are more favoured by us too. I live in Crosby Rob, and not being biased it's one of the best coastlines in the country, with the views over to North Wales and miles of beaches. We're away in our caravan in 2 weeks to a small farm near Shrewsbury. Can't wait!!

Another really interesting and detailed vlog Rob and Gail. Gail your camera skills are amazing , so much detail. Enjoyed seeing all the gardens and beaches , very impressive. Shame that the pier and miniature railway were closed . Lots of empty pitches at that site, surprising for July.

We were surprised for July that so many attractions were closed and it was a shame. We read the pier will cost millions to restore but at least we had the chance to visit a few years ago. There was even a land train on the pier back then. We’re sure the site will become alive once the schools break up, but yes fairly quiet whilst we were there. Brilliant information and remember the great sands and model village there as a kid. The shop arcade architecture reminds me of Llandudno and the pride, planning and common sense that went into everything. Yes, climate change on clear display, since recollections and adolescent memories, a lot more wind and not quite as sunny 👍

Hi Rob you are on the new part of the site it is as you say a bit open but the bushes and trees have not grown very well yet the site is in a great place to walk into the southport you can go oneway and come back another as with all seaside towns it some money spending on it but i am sure you will have a great time
Hello Janet, we are pleased to report we had a wonderful time 👍. We even managed to dodge the showers and downpours too. The site is brilliantly conveniently placed to see all Southport has to offer and we had fun exploring further afield. We wished the serviced pitches had been installed on the mature side of the site. Our pitch felt very exposed on all sides and we generally choose a pitch that backs onto hedges. Gail wanted to move but I said it was too much hassle, but we soon settled in. We had no idea the pier was closed prior to booking. Gail had her old pennies in readiness too 💰 .
There’s so much to see and do in the area and we enjoyed the holiday very much.
Hawes is down on our list but we’re fully booked for this year.
As for sharing my shortbread it’s a definite no no for Gail as she is gluten free 🙁 but I did feel mean snacking when she had nothing 😁

Another site under the radar if Harrogate Caravan Park. Adjacent to the show ground and ten minute safe walk to supermarket and bus stop into Harrogate or Wetherby. Plenty of great walks in this part of the world.

No it isn't. It is Barrow in Furness. Look on a good map
a) IOM is 70 mile from Southport, and at street level the Horizon is only 50 mile away.
b) From Southport the IOM bearing is about 30 degrees west Blackpool
Stating it is IOM is an urban myth with many Sandgrounders (Locals)

There is a trig point North East of Barrow in Furness, at Furness, which is a mere 156 metres above sea level. But you are correct it’s definitely not IOM.
