Time travelling in an aluminium tube ! Ha ! Another great video Vernon. Enjoying every moment of them. Living your dreams with your eyes wide open, rather than working in a soul-destroying cubicle farm to buy stuff to try to impress people you don't like . . . I've got two ears & one mouth mate, and all I can say is - Life; you're doing it right mate. Keep 'em coming.
Hey brother, just to let you know, you could have used a paint stripper called "Aircraft Remover" or any of the fluid paint strippers to remove the paint. It's a HELL OF A LOT QUICKER & EASIER than grinding & sanding it off. You put the chemical on with a brush, then simply wait for about 15-20 minutes & the paint will bubble right off. You would just follow up with a simple scraper to get the loose paint off. Just for future reference.
Came from Erik Aanderaa's channel, initally intrigued by your name and wow, after just seeing this episode I'm sold! Great channel, love to really see the works of a sailing boat. Not just the lovely sailing in good weather but the hard work that comes with it aswell! Amazing job below deck! Keep it up!
Just found your channel and binged watched it all ! I follow many channel and I myself sail offshore and livaboard and this is now in my top 3! Awesome footage!
Great video mate, just subscribed....when i seen you putting on that new weather vane, i then realised you were right up top of that mast......hahahaha you wouldn't get me up there for all the tea in China.....i was getting vertigo just by watching lol.
How are you liking the double main sheet system after 4 years, I’m think of doing the same conversion. Any changes or improvements you’d care to talk about. Thanks for all the great videos.
Schiehallion is looking fine Vernon (considerably better than your shoulder). The aft storage / berths came up nicely and I like the new traveller system. Let me know when you're back in Qld and I'll visit.
Hi love ya posts :-) Hey mate I spent 14 years pro boat building and it really grieves me to see you grinding etc with so little protection (basically none), that dust is really bad for ya and you're wallowing in it !!! Those paper dust masks are near useless, so for your health sake in vest in full face respirator and change the filters regular ( they also take 2 types of filter, one for dust and another for fumes). Paper suits are a pain BUT WARE ONE ! With respect :-) Ps. Grinding with vacuum cleaner hose taped to ya grinder will help heaps !
Haha, yeah I know it. Thought I would get heaps more grief about that but you're the first to comment. I figured as I was about to sail off into unknown amounts of risk then some dust probably wouldn't be the thing that would kill me first.
Well done with the modifications Vernon. Boat looks like she sails well. I don't think I could adapt to such extreme changes in weather. I'll stick to hot Hervey Bay 😀. Great video.
Beautiful work on your boat. You got mad skills. I can’t find a vid that highlights your boat. I believe you’ve said it was built by its previous owner.
Until now I have plenty of power generation but 100w more solar would be perfect if I can find a good place to put it. I really don't want to clutter up the boat, I love how simple it is now.
I believe your new yacht is spelt the same way as a mountain we have in Scotland, so if your interested here’s a link including a picture of the mountain. www.walkhighlands.co.uk/munros/schiehallion
Learning By Doing That’s awesome just like what your doing to her. I’m disabled now but had a Cutlass 32 and sailed her up and down the west coast of Scotland and Ireland. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Hey Vernon great work on the boat storage and traveller. I was wondering, will you be looking to install a wind vane or similar self steering system on the boat? What other improvements do you plan? Thanks for the video.
Graeme Henderson glad you liked the video. Yes, I have an older model Hydrovane that I’ll be mounting when I return in May. It will give me a back-up rudder that is almost as important to me as the selfsteering. I have a great auto pilot with spares also.
Hey mate thanks for the prompt reply how's Europe? I looked at that very boat asa possible offshore boat for me. I didn't like the traveller arrangement either. I love how you overcame that. It definitely is something to remember if I see another boat that I like with that arrangement.
Graeme Henderson yeah it turned out to be an elegant and practical solution that works very well. Couldn’t be happier with that. The boat sails beautifully too. Europe is having a crazy weather spell at the moment but it all fun.
Hi Cleo. Thanks! Absolutely, the boom will still go out as far as ever. When on a reach or downwind, wing on wing etc I unclick the block thats crossing the cockpit. Each side has a snapshackle on it.
Brilliant work.
thanks!

Trailer Yacht wow thanks for that mate, very cool comment! Life is for living.

Hahah yeah that sounds like a much more fun option, way less cleaning up after too.

Thanks Gustav, glad you found my channel. Only another 3 weeks and I'm back on the boat and making videos again. Big adventures planned this season.
great to hear, looking forward to following your adventures!
Wow,storm looked crazy!
Hope to see you in the mountains Vernon!

Hi Jason. Thanks and glad you found my channel. It’s a work in progress, still not really happy with my videos.
your definitely on the right track and the content is amazing. Cheers from Victoria Bc Canada
Clever and ... nice storm behind :-)

Hi David. haha, I quite like going up there to be honest, great views to be had. Bit different out at sea though as you get thrown around a lot.
I like the double main sheet 👍 it’s also a jibe preventer yeah?
Nice work mate!
Fred Smeaton thanks!

You’re welcome! Nope, nothing I would change at all, it’s on of those things that I tried and it just works. Love it!

Detlef Bauer thanks, would be nice to see you.
Excellent job on that back berth. Liked and subbed. Binge watching to follow :)
Haha, thanks and have fun. Some of the older ones were pretty bad.
Me too

Thanks Greg. Yes the changes in temperature are pretty extreme. I like it though.
Are you for real?! I din't know you had such a vlog! Gonna follow that for sure. Safe sailing and all the best !!
Glad you finally found it Jeróme. Enjoy.
Beautiful work on your boat. You got mad skills. I can’t find a vid that highlights your boat. I believe you’ve said it was built by its previous owner.
Thanks Capt. I'm currently working on 2 boat tour videos that will come out next month. stay tuned.
are you considering adding a bit more solar to the top of your hard top?
Until now I have plenty of power generation but 100w more solar would be perfect if I can find a good place to put it. I really don't want to clutter up the boat, I love how simple it is now.

Yes Stuart it is. There is even a little plaque on the bulkhead with a little bit of rock for the summit.

@@stuartmcmichael5250 Thats a place I would love to spend some time sailing. Not very tropical but a very different beauty.

Great chanel! I just discovered you. Musik is very "Casey Neistat" like.👍👍👍
Thanks. Is that a complaint about the music? I'd rather use different music but its pretty tough to find good music thats ok to use on You Tube.
@@SailingLearningByDoing
Nooo. I like the Musik!
She's a mover ::)
Gday troll
Great out of the box thinking! I love the setup. Question? Can you still do wing on wing? If so does the block now block the cockpit?
Hi Cleo. Thanks! Absolutely, the boom will still go out as far as ever. When on a reach or downwind, wing on wing etc I unclick the block thats crossing the cockpit. Each side has a snapshackle on it.
Ya know I thought of that later after I posted. Actual if you two more tie downs you could use it as the preventer.
Cleo Torris yeah I could do that. I have a preventer rigging on each side permanently already.
