interesting. I'd learnt from a young age that blanching is a really quick process that needs to start from boiling point. Not heating to boiling point. And from what I'm aware, it is a process that only takes a matter of seconds really.
"5 Minutes!!" "nice and soft" No No No! pop straight into already boiling water then 1 min MAX so they are NOT SOFT. dry & freeze. Then it can also be used for frying.
@@angelamary9493 You think that was disrespectful 😂 You try boiling sliced Courgettes for 5 minutes for freezing and see the results, then get back to me...
Great tip, however I thought blanching before freezing was just a one minute process to destroy the bacteria, not cooking it for 5 minutes. Just wondered why they were cooked until soft?
Tried this bring to boil for 5 minutes. Defrosted them and had sloppy mush. Went back to proper blanching, boiling water and plunge them in for a few seconds, had firm slices ready to cook when defrosted, i’ll stay with that method and not bother to subscribe here.
@XarraX9009 Thank you very much! So its about saving time from cutting them whilst cooking (as if they take a long time cutting in the first place... :¬? ). Bah, the twentieth century is a funny one.
OMFG. I have to smile at this new trend of fake guide videos. Here’s a tip: cook your sausages on a high flame for a minimum of 2 hours for super crisp sausage!
I jst chop n freeze not sure why all youtubers cook them n then freeeze them. They lose all nutrients if u boil them will be dead veg after bcus u will need to cook them again. I just chop n freeze. The frozen ones u get they are not cooked only choped n frozen u cant keep reheating them im sure it goes bad after no nutiants will be left after boiling hope this helps u can ask the lady when purchasing them if boiling n freezing is better
I grew 4 plants this year, i now have 10 courgettes in the cupboard and more growing! Everyone who visits, goes home with one whether they like them or not.

I agree 5 minutes and it is mush when you cook with it....unless you really like you courgettes through a straw! Stella
5 minutes? She's definitely no expert in home freezing. Roderick Roy has the right answer here...

Wow! Thank you, I had no idea! :o)
thankyou
So, what the presenter is saying, is that you have to overcook them before you freeze them??

It’s a courgette we are in the UK
5 mins is fully cooked not blanched!!
No goodness left after boiling for 5 mins?!?

Why would you freeze a courgette? Its a serious question; I don't know the first thing about cooking; but isn't freezing, well, not-cooking?
You should plant a courgette, then, when faced with picking 2,3 and 4 a day, tell us what else we should do with them.
