  • With so much chaos in the world, is it possible to have peace?
    According to Buddhist monks, the answer is yes. This video documents a day in the life of a Theravada Buddhist monk in Thailand. It follows him as he goes on alms round through the local village, doing his chores, practice mindfulness and meditation, and so much more.
    My intention for this video is to give you a small glimpse into our world and hopefully it inspires you to diligently train your mind and build your habits. For world peace to be achieved, it must first start with inner peace. Developing inner peace takes effort, time, patience, and endurance, but it's a journey worth going on. I hope you enjoy!

    What are your thoughts? Is peace possible during turbulent times?

    • @quorrakai
      @quorrakai 2 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      Absolutely! We need to focus on our own lives, within our own small world. Taking the huge burden of the world is too much for any human. There has always been war, unrest, corruption etc but it's magnified because of social media and the media. Turn it off. It's ok to be happy and strive for peace within your own life and surroundings. You aren't build for, and don't need to know every single thing going on 24/7. Just my opinion but it works for me. 😊

      @guitarvorous I want happiness. If you take away the words 'I' and 'want', then you are left with happiness. In other words, ego and desire get in the way of happiness. Stop being selfish and stop being greedy, then you will be happy.

    I couldn't help but cry. The discipline and dedication these monks have made for self mastery is profound. As a collective they naturally amplify their clarity and become a LITERAL beacon of light and hope in a world getting darker by the day.
    Lately I have found myself getting distracted and pulled by the events occurring in the outside world. You have inspired me to put more effort in continuing the practice of present moment awareness keeping in mind how important it is to remain detached by simply being the 'observer'. Peace is possible when people leave selfishness.. Everyone, every country wants to prove his/her/it's existence & dominance on other. Everyone is trying to prove how powerful he is than others. But are we thinking that what we will get by this... We are gaining these at the cost of other people & nature's rights & existence.. They are deprived from their rights because of some one's aggression & dominance.. Why we dominate, are we are not aware of our own existence , feel inferior or wish to prove superiority? Rich countries are trying to become more rich by explosive way.. People are not rich by how much wealth & superior technology they have but rich by heart, by mind caring for self & others existence & rights too.. Like Buddha said let's adopt middle path. That will never hurt & suffer any one.. Unless we leave selfishness & competition of dominance on other, how we will get peace? Is it necessary to dominate others always just to fulfill your ego & existence.. Always Trying to show how you are different than others.. No......We all are one may be different by skin colour, language, wealth & education but blood is red & all systems of body are same.. Sun rays spread from one sun but they never try to show their separate existence. They just spread light. We are like sun rays from one sun that is purity.. If we stop competing, selfishness & dominance behavior, peace is possible... Live &:let others live too... With lots of love & Metta 🙏

    Thank you Nick for this amazing video. Finding peace in our turbulent times is for sure not easy, but extremely helpful in grounding us. As the structures are revealed to be crumbling around us, we can work on that inner sanctuary in order to be aware, grounded and internally thrive to be flexible as new energies around us develop. We can only control what happens in our inner landscape. Blessings to you my friend.

    This is really a fascinating look into the peace possible through monastic life. What a wonderful way to exist.
    It's not a good fit for me personally but I enjoyed this thoroughly. I've often wondered what daily life looked like for monks.
    I've chosen to seek inner peace in whatever ways I can manage personally and that often starts with me taking long sabbaticals from social media. Aside from youtube i've basically logged off of everything lately and that's been such a benefit to me. Not allowing the constant inflow of negativity make a huge difference in how I feel on a daily basis. I'm also trying to mindfully declutter too.
