According to the owners manual, car should be run to normal operating temperature then turn engine OFF and check the level.

Im getting a honda accord V6 2005 tomorrow and im watching all sorts of videos to know how to change oil, for the most part everything is the same but some people say leave car running and hot when checking engine and others say turn off car and check 60 seconds after no more than 90 seconds. Which way would be preferable and work better ?

To reinforce what others have said in the comments when checking a Honda Accord's trans fluid level, the car should be at operating temperature, meaning the fan will go on. Then, TURN off the car and the vehicle is on a flat surface. Wait a minute, then check the fluid to determine the level.

Actually, you need warm the car then turn it off and then check fluids level after 60 seconds but before 90 seconds.
      Still thanks for the video.
EDIT: I've seen your other post about your experience at Honda. I now understand your point of view. Cheers.

@@RBTheMechanic I am going to assume as you have. The dipstick level is supposed to measure the higher level of fluid, and not the running level of fluid. They designed it so that you check the fluid with the engine off at operating temperature 1 minute to 1.5 minutes after you shut off the engine. That is when the dipstick reads the correct level. Not when it is lower and pumping through the system with the engine on.
Now you have assumed that you check it when it is lower with the engine running. Not how it was designed. With the higher level when the engine is off. You have been overfilling this whole time. What's worse, is you have been promoting and defending this choice.
They likely designed it this way to destroy more transmissions since they know mechanics won't take the time to learn how to properly check the fluids, which are very specific and only within a short time frame.

good video but i have to say I have had two different views on checking this cars trans fluid. In the past i have had cars where you have to have the car running to check Trans Fluid levels.....however I have had numerous say that now, with the honda, you don't need the car running. It has to be hot, you should go thru geers, but at the end check levels when NOT running??? I will have to verify with my mechanic on this OR Honda Dealers! Thanks for video.
