I was going to say that a lot of these traits contradict themselves, but then I realized that's actually important for success. You need to be able to change directions, be open to both intuitive action and long-term planning, be able to stick firmly to your own ways, or compromise and let it go. Mediocre people are stuck just doing things one way, whereas successful people change it up as needed.

The 28th quality I wanted to add is the follows:
Successful people are always grateful. They stave off the depression and and loneliness as best they can, by being grateful for their past and all the steps they made and all the support they had and have, that made them reach where they are today.

    What I'm good at:
1 Passion. I am inspired by life.
    2. Hardworking. Only for things I'm obsessed with. I will do work all day on a holiday.
    3. Iconoclastic. I don't feel I fit in with many organizations/culture/rules. I don't like conformists.
    4. Creativity. I am highly creative. I am artistic. I desire to generate massive value and impact thousands of, and millions of people in the next phase.
    4. Value excellence. When I'm doing my own project, I really value excellence and many people recognize my excellence in what I do.
    5. Vision. I'm a big-pictured person.
    6. Intuitive. I can take in and assess multiple variables in a holistic way.
    7. Optimistic and hopeful. I believe the world and the humanity will be better. I believe in the power of creativity.
    8. Value knowledge and learning. I LOVE learning and knowledge.
    9. Highly motivated intrinsically. I do have project I kick my own ass to work on and it's fulfilling.
What I need to improve on:
    1. Persistence. When facing failures.
    2. Cleverness. I used to have cleverness. But after some failures, I tended to give up on that. Gotta pick that up.
    3. Technical skills. It's interesting that I deliberately practice the skills my hobbies require instead of what my profession requires. I'm a bit evasive in that sense.
    4. Leader. I'm trying to carve my path through life. I don't want to just be a follower.
    5. Decisive. I'm a typical indecisive person. I have issue with being decisive. I do want things in life. But I didn't set myself out to get there. It's mainly because I grew up conforming to my parents and institutions instead of following my own inner compass.
    6. Don't do things only for money. I'm trapped by life recently...I do want to impact the world. I'm trying to work on that right now though. Being driven by money is not fulfilling.
    7. Focused. I'm like a light bulb...
    8. Ambitiousness. Wanna rise to the top and be the best of your field.
    9. Rapid speed of implementation. Rather than think, philosophize, and get paralysis by analysis. I do recognize a lack of action in me.
    10. Opinionated. Sometimes I don't stand up for my opinions.
    11. Courageous. I used to be willing to act in the face of fear.
    11. Have a spine. Other things do try to overpower you all the time...Thank you I learned that I shouldn't be overpowered and should have a spine.
    12. Endure the cost/sacrifices. I do want to enjoy my life and what life has to offer. I will really hesitate on this because I value relationships a lot.
    13. Long-term thinking. 10 years down the road. I'm working on this right now by expanding my vision.
    14. Pragmatic. I'm idealistic. A part of me is realistic but I know it's not enough yet.
    15. Work for themselves. Push their agenda. It's very smart. I used to think that once I'm in an organization, I have to conform to their agenda.

At the core of the success is EMOTIONAL MASTERY .. Successful people are the ones who have usually mastered their emotions in a way that they don’t let their emotions self-sabotage their success and are able to navigate through any adversity , unknown and uncertainty while most of the people throw the towel in under unbearable stress caused by adversity , failure and unknown ..

Leo talking about passion tell me if i can find my passion in this way
1.choose something you have interest in
2.Start becoming very good at it
3.The more you become good at doing that particular thing the more you'll enjoy
4.If you enjoy doing that then there's a big chance that you might get passionate about it.
5.If you're passionate and good at it then good things happen

  • @christopherarendt3531
    @christopherarendt3531 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    1. Passionate - That which inspires successful people generates passion, passion generates results
    2. Hard Working - The Average consistently work towards immediate comfort. The Successful work towards comfort but additionally work abnormally hard towards their actualization.
    3. Persistent - Successful people have a conscious tolerance for failure that understands what is possible for the future self and sees their present self’s failures as limitations of foresight to be transcended
    4. Iconoclastic - They utilize “the rules” only when necessary for self-actualization.
    5. Clever - Actively desire to understand and process the environment in a way that relates to their past experience. This relation allows the user who is unfamiliar with the exact present situation to quickly strategize.
    6. Manipulative - Manipulates their environment including friends, companies or others to realize their actualization
    7. Creative - They aim to create things not just in the arts but in business, politics, or wherever they may create connections, create plans for process, or create objects using tools.
    8. Generate Massive Value - With the other 25 qualities, when successful people leverage their creativity they do so to generate that which is valuable to as large a group as possible.
    9. Technically Skilled - The successful utilize their persistence to do deliberate practice to develop skills beyond the average, frequently to mastery.
    10. Excellence Minded - The successful derive joy and satisfaction from experiencing excellence and helping others to achieve it. The mediocre person sees the average or bare minimum as “good enough” which directly contradicts most of these listed traits.
    11. Visionary - Successful people strategize to achieve their actualization and in the process they actively develop and maintain a vision of their short, medium and long term goals that support self-actualization
    12. Leaders - With an iconoclastic vision for themselves, successful people understand a person can not just follow in order to fully actualize. In the process, they develop tools they can express to others to help them and gain a broader understanding.
    13. Intuitive - Successful people are guided by heart and gut more than their logical mind. The mind-body-spirit connection, creativity, and other qualities enables a successful person to perceive a situation in more than just a logical mind-based form.
    14. Decisive - With a variety of ways one can become successful, the mediocre become complacent in pondering what to do. To be successful you must act on the best option determined by your past experience. As the successful person decides more, they eventually become better decision makers and thus more successful.
    15. Don’t seek money - Ultimately people made money to use to barter their work effort for things or opportunities that achieve peace of mind, body and spirit for themselves or for others. Successful people seek peace of mind, body and spirit for themselves or others and often receive money as a result. Mediocre people work for money so they can obtain peace of mind, body and spirit and so their ability to achieve peace of mind body and spirit (for themselves or for others!) hinges on the amount of money they earn.
    16. Focused - Able to select one field and spend a large block of time to experience it fully. Think of laser beam vs light bulb.
    17. Desire to Be The Best - They are ambitious, driven by the ego. What makes a person depends on the level of fulfillment each the id, ego and superego (or others) feel. The desire to be the best is to fulfill the ego fully, until it is content.
    18. Rapidly implement - When they have an idea, successful people implement it as quickly as possible to full realization. They have a bias towards action vs contemplation which often leads to paralysis by analysis.
    19. Opinionated - They have firm and strong opinions because of their firm and strong beliefs which come from being decisive
    20. Have a spine - They stand up for themselves and their values, beliefs or ideals. There are too many ways of failure to count so you must believe and stand up for yourself or you will be overrun by them.
    21. Optimistic and hopeful - Fundamentally, successful people believe they can, society can, we all “can.” Mediocre people do not believe they “can” unless they meet some, possibly misguided, criteria. Can be depressed but that is short term.
    22. Courageous - Willing to endure fear in order to self actualize
    23. Value learning & knowledge - Not necessarily book smarts, could be street smarts. Knowledge must be valued in order to develop technical skills and mastery.
    24. Willing to sacrifice - Successful people value self actualization and success over extra time with their family and friends or other comfortable and enjoyable experiences. The mediocre often find the trade is unfavorable.
    25. Highly self-motivated - Intrinsically NOT extrinsically motivated. Nobody has to kick a successful person in the ass to tell them what to do, they know to do it themselves. They often beat themselves up too much (heart attack, burn out).
    26. Long-term thinkers - Mediocre people most entirely think about the presence or perhaps a year ahead of time. Successful people think 10 or more years into the future as they plan their life. Thus they can be prepared and more easily overcome obstacles
    27. Pragmatic - They are more practical than idealogical or idealistic. They don’t inactively theorize and contemplate. They actively seek the realities of life to base their strategy off of. Rarely the perfect strategy is used.
    28. Work for themselves - Even outside of self employment, successful people are fundamentally advancing their agenda irregardless of their employment, although their employment often reflects their goals for advancement towards self-actualization.

Leo I was enjoying your video and finding it really encouraging and optimistic. But then when I saw some comments down here I felt it was kind of let down to acknowledge some people can't even get your point. Being mediocre isn't necessarily bad. Also, guys, Leo is talking about the most successful people and how they act. The only thing he did was basically research and put the characteristics here. His mindset is way up high, he is taking it to the edge of being successful. He is so out of your league of thinking that, of course, he's even making people uncomfortable, it's obvious and predictable. Keep it up Leo, I think this is one thing you're good at.

Creativity is a fun thing to have. It's like having a bubble pop into existence instead of popping out of existence, and its strangeness floats over you with a newfound sense of sight. The misty particles cloud your vision until you just have to take a pipe and suck it all up into a little dart you shoot into the next hapless source of expression.
Another interesting phenomena is how being anti-social can be deceptive to others. Why? Because while I'm not talking and generally staying away from the allure of friends and the internet (social media of course, people wonder how I do it), I'm actually listening and building my vocabulary like a sponge, to the point where when I do speak it flows out as if I'd spoken my whole life to a college full of witty minded souls.
People say I'm too hard on myself, that I shouldn't use anger as a tool for cold analysis. I do either way. In fact I use all my emotions tactically instead of helplessly. I adapt to them in ways that let them adapt to me. If I started crying in the middle of a speech, I turn that into passion. When I am writing so fast that I cannot read what I have written. I simple take that as a sign that I am dedicated. The instruction after all, was to fill the whole page in three minutes. I used anger then at my stubbornness to show everyone else in my class just how much of a symbol that otherwise useless piece is to me.
I am honest to a fault, a term I love using being "brutally honest", which actually turned someone into a rage. I manipulated him. Literally sacrificed my own reputation to be the hard and fast lesson that shapes people. Such is my enjoyment at manipulation.
Always the first to stand in the paralysis of fear, to break that uneasy silence with my cultured voice and bring everyone together, only to isolate myself from the very group I create as soon as it is self sufficient. I help others and leave to help others. It always has been and probably will stay that way lest circumstance deny it.
I self reflect as much as I observe, often trying to find my own fault before even beginning to see the faults of others. I feel the pain of others when I cause it because of this. In a way that never fails. I find passion in helping others, so hurting them hurts that passion, which hurts me.
And that gut feeling? Wow if anyone has seen my insistence on following a very specific religion that the majority of people do not know about. I will not go into detail explaining this, except that it is closely related to the idea of both an afterlife and reincarnation. After reading a book on how it was discovered, I went into a rant about how much of an improvement it is over the "average" religion and then completely dropped it as I would be a follower if I didn't start it, which I didn't.
Shortly after that experience came the very surprising feeling of looking at a bigger picture piece itself together in front of me. The world itself assembling a final memorial image of the nonphysical type.

XD I was listening very intently going ding... ding... ding... ding.... So much of what was said I could relate to. Not only is my writing instructor saying I have the potential to be a billionaire (why would I even need all that money anyways?), but now just listening to this video I'm already convincing myself of the very same thing. Also I convinced myself to subscribe to this channel for being so close to the truth. I love the acquisition of knowledge.

'Successful people are obsessive about how they work. They are almost workaholics. Successful people are extremely persistent.'- Important qualities that I want to have - '1)Embracing the fact how easily and how often I fail, how hard it is to keep working the face of failure over and over again, and just fail again and again and again. Successful people have a high tolerance for failure. I just have to keep going and trying. 2) Extremely decisive. People who are not successful are not clear about what they want. I need to be crystal clear about what I want. 3) Actually going out and doing stuff 4)Have strong opinions and beliefs. Have spine. Fight for what I believe in. Otherwise, I am overpowered by other people and things.5)Believe in myself.

I have been watching these videos for about an hour per day for nearly a month now. Many I have put into practice. Been very helpful. And thanks Leo!
Lived all over the World including Asia for 2 years. My only beef is that sometimes one video contradicts and directly conflicts with another. See many, many instances of this. It is like Leo is trying to convey ancient Eastern teachings that originated in Asia then other videos seem to be geared exclusively towards the United States and other Westernized Countries. I find it difficult to mix the 2, put it all together and make it all work.

Get used to losts and losts of contradiction. This isn't logic class. This is life! And you are a very very conflicted creature!

Paradox certainly adds to the Self Development Challenge. Train the "Wild, Drunk Monkey that has been bitten by a Scorpion" lol! Take baby steps for the long haul. NOT Instant gratification. Then one is confident and able to hear the.whisper of your Higher Self.

Love this list. I had the idea of printing this out and sticking it up in my studio. I'm using Pinterest as one of my many motivational tools. I started putting these down then, saw it as a badass Pin, all different fonts in white on black. I realize you are busy as hell. Let me know if you want me to bang one out for you. I'd do it 'cause you've helped me very much, and that I want one! Anyhow, I just signed up for your new Forum. Really thrilled it's there. I was told the game of Chess shows the way one thinks. I used my Queen a lot until someone said to me, "In your life, you do a great deal by yourself, right? It's too much. Get people to help you." I see your Forum that way, others helping each other with these ideas you've projected. HOT!
Man, you are on point about being depressed, but hopeful. I've never heard that before. People have abandon me, just for trying if I failed or not. I'm thrilled I've tried so many things, even when I failed, I had no idea what I was doing, but in writing, art, organizing events or promotion, I learned a great deal. Still the sadness from the lost of close friends, is a real downer. Though, I feel you on sinking into your work and parting way less. THAT is spot on. Enjoying little successes AND getting paid for them without people draining my efforts with their doubts, is pretty damn good. I guess one must rebuild a network of people that are moving in the same direction, over and over, again and again.
    Thanks again.

I feel I am missing very little on the list, and not to disappoint some of you but i think that 3 factors you surely need to have from very start to really be successful are
the self motivation(you don't need others to tell you what to do), ambition-will to be the best, long term view .Also self excusing(for basically anything) which i already see in comment section of the video is the most common way to make yourself not successful person - and no matter what you think it is always your fault in everything you do good or bad in your life. :P

Like my drive, technical skills and also I have anxiety issues that prevents me from doing well, and most of the time finishing at all. I try to do well but my fears get the better of me, and it ate me alive, I almost failed my thesis because of it.

    Hi, Leo
The video is inspiring, and I have some questions:
    1. How do you define/measure successful? (By how much contribution to society? Other people's recognize? Or by self recognize?)
    2. How far do you think we are to success after we know "27 characteristics successful people have" ? What else is needed to be successful besides being inspired by other people's success. How to really implement them?

    • @ActualizedOrg

      1) Just the ordinary, common-sense notion of success is good enough here.
      2) Watching this video brought you 0.00000000001% closer to success. That's where the hard work part comes into play.

    • @cobra-wo3tg
      @cobra-wo3tg 8 ปีที่แล้ว

+Mimi Liu - Success is all relative. One person's success may be considered a failure for someone else. You should define your own idea of success and not let others tell you what success should look like.

    • @jayblue202

+David Stanton lol you obviously didnt catch all of the information in that video. watch it again, he is proposing a belief, a way of thought, that has merit. To sum up what he was saying in that video, it was that you and every human are a very complicated being. It is beyond our understanding. But you are still responsible to the world around you for everything that happens in your life. As we all live different lives. What i took away from watching that video is that there is so much that goes on that we are unaware of. You are in a sense a slave to your mind. Things happen without you consciously being aware so many times every day. I can see how you would confuse what he is saying but the conversation isnt meaningless, he isnt contradicting himself. He is making you aware of the possibility of something you never considered.

I totally agree with these points. Success not only means to be rich . Success is what you make impact to society.
Some people are saying that successful persons are not happy on their life. It sometimes true. Success is responsibility for other people . They cant have their life only for them or their family. All persons are connect to workforce become his/her family. If they go down from success it reflect lots of life.
So SUCCESS one person benefits other. As an example Sheikh Mujibur Rahman sacrifice his life for Bangladeshi (my country) peoples and led them without caring his family brings the liberation. if he thought about only his life he could be a good father or a good family man then we might not be liberal. This way i can say about Mahthir Mohammad of Malaysia. We can think about Bil Gates. if Gates only thinks about his family or be a happy family man he never can make the Microsoft OS. Gates is not member of his family he is family member of all computer users . They belongs to all family
