I am not religious in any conventional sense, but the sheer emotional power and beauty of this piece of music, especially on such an organ, is simply undeniable to me, regardless of the connections to organized (no pun intended) and historic religion.
This is a most pleasing & wonderful piece of music, I only discovered it a few weeks ago, but I play it nearly every time I switch my computer on. A most talented organist playing a fine fine instrument I find it very pleasing to my ears.Thank you very much Scott Brothers. b

I love your description of today's "modern praise" music! I call it, "Clap hands, here comes Jesus" music or "Happy Clappy" for short! I can't stand it and it's why I'm basically turned off by churches today. I live in Victoria British Columbia Canada and can only find "decent" music in our Cathedral. The local church where I attend does a pretty good job at the traditional service at 11:30 am, but I don't (and won't) attend the "family service" at 10:00. What an incredible organist Jonathan is! Amazing!

Where are you building organs?. I live in West Hartford , CT. By a fluke I ran into the wife of the Mr. Austin who owned Austin Organ in Hartford for many years. At a fruit stand in Bloomfield, CT. Very cool. :). Just wondering if you are near me. I am always excited when someone around here does ANYTHING to do with organs.

Excellent arrangement and performance. Even a small organ can be beautiful. I played a 5 rank Möller for 23 years until the church closed. The strings were particularly beautiful and the trompette gave it flare. Even a 32' pedal stop. The 5 rank I'm playing now is nothing like it but the church leaders are willing to make changes. A 2' principal and trompette to replace the oboe are in the works. Who knows? Maybe some electronics when someone wants a memorial.

Why don't you have instrumental music in your churches?. A lot of Russians came here in the last 30 years in my area of Hartford, CT. Various groups and federations helped them over and gave them jobs and apartments. Now most are successful here and are doing some amazing things. I'm friends with quite a few of them, dated a couple here and there. LOL. Married an Italian though, clearly those didn't work out. Greetings from the US. You have a great name by the way.
@@ggolds5 In Greece we don't have either. For some reason, the Orthodox dogma doesn't allow polyphony, let alone instrumental music. I don't know why... And I'm pissed off, because it is so difficult for me to listen to a Church Organ live...
@@ggolds5 For some reason the Orthodox churches decided not to put an organ in their churches. That decision is inexplicable. It is not that they wouldn't have the funds to do it. It had to be some ancient patriarch, who must have thought that music was a sacrilege in a church.
@@OldPannonian Ya, it made people feel to good and the Orthodox are perhaps frightened by the idea of "a good time". IE priests that can't marry. Meanwhile our churches and synagogues here in the US, most of them, enjoy music and at least in the Jewish religion sex is not a sin it's considered a healthy part of marriage and family and Rabbis are encouraged to marry, have children and enjoy and respect their wives. Romance and music, yes they often go together.
This was played my grandmothers funeral back in 2016 and just so many tears in my eyes on that day
