No other melody evokes the Lord as much as this song. It's as though it came down from heaven. Chills go up and down my spine throughout the entire song. So ethereal.

I sat and listened in awe. Absolutely beautiful.
My wife and I have listened to this piece of music many times. The enormous pleasure, which it gives us, remains undiminished. Not only is the singing superb, but also the organ accompaniment, which in our opinion is outstanding; an organ accompaniment rarely equalled. Listen also to Psalm 150 sung by this wonderful choir. Here the playing of the organ is again outstanding; tremendously sympathetic.

This is Vavilov V..... published for the first time in 1968 year as the music of an unknown author....there is a category of authors not conceited, but creating for people, they do not need to leave their name, but we must respect them ..
Agree, USSR was extremely malignant towards creative talanted people. It was easier for V.Vavilov to write using somebody's name.
It is time to give composer respect and recognition.

This music was composed by the Soviet composer Vladimir Vavilov in the 60s of the 20th century, and the author indicated the Italian Giulio Caccini. He had no other opportunity to publish music of such content at that time.

Beautiful performance of a beautiful piece. We now know that this music was actually composed by modern composer Vladimir Vavilov and not Caccini.
right, i get what you're saying, but is it necessary? Like I tell people I love celine dion's song All BY Myself and suddenly someone gets angry that I don't say well its originally by Eric Carmen. People who listen to classical will know, but you're right its good for random people to know, but is it necessary to flame the person if they don't mention Vavilov?
It is very sad when a nation doesn’t allow it’s citizens profess their faith freely. It was ingenious of Vavilov to claim that his music was written by someone else to be able to profess his faith.

Hermosa interpretación del Ave María por parte del Gerogia Boy Choir.
Pero como ya señala 'jpstenino', esta hermosa pieza fue escrita por el guitarrista ruso VlADIMIR VAVILOV (1925-1973) en 1970, y la grabó en un disco llamado "Melody". Esta Ave María, pues, NO es de Caccini (1551-1618). Fijarse que sólo se dice Ave Maria y se quita el resto de la oración
Vladimir no puso su firma en la grabación y un amigo organista de Vladimir, (siguiendo la costumbre del mismo Vladimir) puso a Caccini como autor de esta maravillosa música y así ha llegado hasta nuestros días.
Vladimir murió sin saber que su Ave María ha llegado a ser una de las más famosas.
Gracias por la grabación. Que siga el ánimo en este trabajo de superación del coro.
Ave Maria de Vladimir Vavilov (1970) NO de Caccini (1550-1618) The "Ave Maria" is by Vladimir Vavilov (1925-1973) Russian guitarist, who composed it in 1970 and published in an album called "Melody". He edited it without author (he used to sign with names of authors of the Baroque, but this song left blank). Then a friend of his (Mark Shakhin) attributed it to Caccini. The interpretation of the soprano Irina Arkhipova in 1987 (with an arrangement by the organist Oleg Tanchgenko) made this Ave Maria reach the fame and popularity that now has and that Vavilov could not get to know (died poor and pancreatic cancer)
