    First of all thank you so much for watching and enagaging on the video. Thats honestly all that I could ask for and I'm so thankful for each person that watches my videos. I had a blast shooting and editing this peice with the help of my boy Tcup on the camera. He crushed it. His instagram is down in the description. That said, this is a new type of video that I havent had much experience before. So if you like the vibe of me trying to storytell these wild adventures then please drop a comment and let me know what you like and what I could do next.
    When it comes to this new Air unit by DJI, I'm so grateful that they trusted me to showcase what this little component can do. I do recommend this product highly as its better than anything else ive used on the market and I truly believe it will be the new standard in all FPV builds.
    So if you are looking to purchase this air unit here is a link that lets DJI know I helped with your purchase decisions

    that was nice... however the old dji fpv also boasts a similar 10km range on fcc in a noise free environment... so really for someone like me who is not in any other protocol, the biggest win for me is the remote v2 capability...
    but honestly, this is best for those who don't already have a fleet of drones and gopros..
    overall the review is great.. the flight footage is really most enticing among reviews i have seen so far. just basic cinematic shots and mid range cruising to showcase the landscape from a better lens...
    i would have loved to see goggles recording though 1.5miles out on those mountains...

    • @NathanMcBride
      @NathanMcBride  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Good question… I’m a cinematographer first not a builder. First of all. I do know how to change out motors and air units if needed but there were a couple things I’m glad I had them for when it comes to switching out the unit. On the specific quote I had to stand off‘s were too tight so they did it fit the camera automatically so we had to design it and 3-D prints a mount for the camera that would reduce micro vibrations. Also we had to re-pin the coax cable so we would properly line up with the flight controller because the power lied was lined up incorrectly for the certain type of flight controller that was on the quad. And the back up quad that I had needed to be fully built from the ground up and I was leaving in one day so it’s better to consult with people that really know what they’re doing

    I can’t wait to progress onto a more legit Kwad from my dji fpv and Avata. Both of which I love, but knowing now that I can purchase a pre build with this air unit, and use my goggles V2 and controller across all is so exciting.
    I’m just struggling on what is best for a newbie coming from DJI fpv and Avata, should I get a whoop (summin with ducts) or a 5 inch?
    I’m interested in the flight bumblebee and Nazgûl, or one of the rotor riot prebuilds.
    They offer both whoop and 5 inch as well.
    What’s best way to go/ place to start? I’m more cinema/landscape cruises and dives around the coastlines on Cornwall rather than hectic bando freestyle (but that could change with my skills improving?
    A 5 inch seems like it’ll take more of a beating and will carry my action 3 easier, but whoop seems safer as new as I won’t have the ‘oh shit’ button or rth, which I’m of course used to having as failsafe with the fpv and Avata.
    I almost spent nearly £300 on eBay for a refurbishment of the big dji fpv controller, the phantom looking black one, literally last week, as was told it’s better to get that on its own first, but I’m so glad I didn’t now this option is available. One controller and goggles that I already own, being compatible for multiple different kwads, from dji fpv to Nazgûl evoque or something is so cool.
    What would guys at your level say is best step forward coming from manual mode Avata and dji fpv. A whoop, a 5, or the 7? (Bob57 literally is best of both!) so there’s too many options to know where to start.
    I do feel I’m ready to progress slowly so best options are either iflight BNF or one of the rotor riot prebuilds.
    Your expertise and ideas will be really helpful.

    • @h-dawg969
      @h-dawg969 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for such a long comment, I just have many questions, and don’t know anyone into the hobby locally so asking online is about the best option currently. That I’m overly excited as I’m loving it since finally getting to manual mode and getting more comfortable with it with each flight.

    • @whereverimayroam74
      @whereverimayroam74 ปีที่แล้ว

      "A whoop, a 5, or the 7"
      Your answer depends on what you want to do. Indoor spaces with people (like the one shot videos)? A whoop (although if you have the Avata already, skip this.
      Freestyling and bando bashing? the 5 inch.
      Long range cinematic? 7 inch.

    • @NathanMcBride
      @NathanMcBride  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah there are so many options to choose from I personal first bought a cinewoop so I could crash without having to rebuild or buy new quads as often But its also important to grab a 5 inch when you are starting to feel more confident. But I agree with your opinion about not having your bando quad have the new air unit if you know you are going to crash alot.

    • @NathanMcBride
      @NathanMcBride  ปีที่แล้ว

      Also make sure to get the slim new DJI FPV controller show in the video. its honestly the best if you can get your hands on it

    • @h-dawg969
      @h-dawg969 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NathanMcBride hey. Yeah I already have the controller and goggles v2 from my dji fpv. Then I bought the Avata as drone only. I was guna buy the big controller to start preparing on liftoff for getting a legit kwad…. So glad I didn’t now as it was £280 on eBay refurbished and that was a good price.
      Now I can just buy and prebuilt kwad with the 03 unit and not need multiple radios and goggles.
      So good.
      I just don’t know where’s best to start.
      I liked the look of the iflight bumblebee or the Nazgûl as they both seem popular options.
      I’m guna wait and see what rotor riot prebuilt options they offer before I make a choice.
      It’s just so ideal that I only need one controller and goggles for the whole fleet now… both of which I already own.
      It’s such an addictive hobby, even coming from learning manual on my dji fpv, n then recently the Avata, that I no doubt will get multiple kwads as time goes on and I get better and know more what fits my needs.
      Cheers for the content. Can’t wait to get to a more competent level to be uploading sick fpv footage all around Cornwall.

    Nathan I do have one or two questions. I've seen footage of people using the Tango 2 with the new O3, but I thought the new system was only compatible with the DJI FPV RC 2. Would I be able to use, say, my Tango 2 and still have telemetry and OSD on my goggles? probably not but worth asking anyways.
    The new O3's range is good, I know you mentioned it and gave an example, but the original air unite never had a problem flying from the highest points or even just flying long distance over 300-400 feet high, so I bet the new one is even better. However, how about those proximity flies in irregular landscapes like mountains or forests, would you say the new O3 is considerable improved for someone who don’t care at all about image quality but signal reliability and long range capabilities?

    • @NathanMcBride
      @NathanMcBride  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Epic video!! Is it even worth it to use a GoPro anymore or just to use the air unit to record?

    • @NathanMcBride
      @NathanMcBride  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the GoPro still provides higher dynamic range and the option to lower sharpness. However the redundancy that an air unit plus an action camera gives is also very nice considering the action camera sometimes has errors that you can’t catch until the flight is done

    • @NathanMcBride
      @NathanMcBride  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      honestly it was hard. I got props in the shot while using ultra wide so its important you think about that during the build process. That said when you adjust the lens distortion in post to bend back the image it can help hide the props from view. When you are shooting "wide" there isn't as much of an issue

    • @whereverimayroam74
      @whereverimayroam74 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You can use crossfire or ELRS or...... any receiver. This has more to do with your flight controller. While the 03 can be used for RX you are not tied to using the RX of the 03. This would be a pretty easy swap in to any quad with a vista already installed. If you already have a different radio installed you don't need to change anything. Just keep using your current radio.
