    Maserati knows how to make a beautiful car. Clean, unfussy surfaces, and spot-on proportions sitting over the wheels. The interior surface finishing is a little over-cooked for my taste, but presumably there are other options. Hoping for the best for them!

    Good to finally see a new coupe from Maserati, and I'm so glad their EV offering is a gorgeous coupe that just happens to be an EV, so it still has those classic proportions. That being said, I'd take mine with the V6 as noise still remains an important part of the experience for me (actually, I'd take a DB12 over this, but that's another story). Good to see Maserati getting back into their stride. Lets hope it continues.

Loving the new Maserati EV, good to see they haven't tried to give it an electric car look, it has styling people can relate to. That looks beautiful. I love the format of the batteries enabling a lower car and therefore seating. Its really important so you don't feel like you're sitting 'on' a car. So many EV cars look slightly wrong because the cabin has been stretched upwards to mask the skateboard of batteries.
    Great video Jonny. Love your presenting style.

    • @elliotsimpson1148
      @elliotsimpson1148 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don’t believe the marketing. They have stuffed the battery where the gearbox and drive shafts normally are. It’s a compromise of a shared platform. It’s why the range is so poor compared to ground up EVs.

    • @benj5386
      @benj5386 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@elliotsimpson1148 I completely understand what youre saying Elliot. The downside of not using a skateboard of batteries is probably, less range.
      But.... The happy upside of sticking batteries where gearboxes, fuel tanks and drive shafts should be is the proportions can remain the same as an ICE vehicle.
      Like I said, I find the skateboard EVs quite often look wrong as the seating position is so high.

    I think what Maserati have done with the battery pack is quite clever. I've been wondering why car makers have insisted on having a big slab under the floor, which either robs legroom or forces a SUV shape. Hopefully we'll see a few more manufacturers following this strategy and giving us some low, wide, sleek looking EVs.

    • @Dqtube

      It's not hard to understand - it's obviouisly way cheaper to design a pack that is effcietvely 2D, instead of 3D in it's shape, and 99% of EV buyers would prefer to sit higher anyway (in case you hadn't noticed the success of the SUV fad)

    That's a really nice car and i can see the appeal but I'm not sure any EV can be a true GT until the technology improves, this GT couldn't complete with a humble ICE city car on an actual grand tour.

      Actual EV owners have waited way less at a charger, than you have at the fuel pumps...

    Instead of getting a matte paintjob id get the the free paint available and wrap it afterwards in a matte colour. Matte paintjobs are a pain in the ass when the car has to be repainted after a crash.

    Acceleration and HP is in line with the Model S LR, not the Plaid. The Plaid is on another level (1,000 HP and 0-60 in 1.9 sec).

    • @GamezGuru1
      @GamezGuru1 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, and it costs almost HALF the price, has four doors with way more range and technology. The Maserati remains a car for those who prioritise style and exclusivity...

    Like the Alfa Romeo buyer analogy. And sadly it has the same problem like the Alfa Romeo Giulia. its to bloody expenise for its calls. The GranTurismo should be priced below a base 911 Carrera 2.... not like a 911 GT3.... the cheapes Giulia costs 45k here and you can get a new Audi A4 for 31k.... yeah the Audiis barebones but it gets buyers to showrooms and cars on the road.

    I sold Maseratis for a few years, ending around 2017. At that time the Gran Turismo was long in the tooth and the Levante had just come out. Good to see they are getting back to some cutting edge competitive tech to go with their beautiful styling!
