Back in 2004, a client of mine who owns a medium sized business had this card. He used to use his Platinum card for a big portion of his cash flow for the business so he could get the travel points. At the time, he said it was over $100k/yr in spending. He was invited to get the black card and he accepted. I accompanied him to Vegas for a business trip for a few days. We stayed at Bellagio. The front desk upgraded our rooms, provided us with gift baskets, free breakfast, and free spa visit. There was an impossible to get into restaurant there. He called his black card concierge and we walked right in. He said that it was like traveling with a personal assistant and concierge. A quick call from wherever and everything was arranged. And the concierge connections made sure everything was first-rate for a good price. They say the wealthy buy time. That's what he considered the prime benefit: Access to people who could supply him with time.

I've seen the Amex Black Card twice. Both times I worked for the Seahawks back in the late 00's. Drew Carey was one. The other was just some random guy with a lot of money. It was different. It was fun to hold. It wouldn't run through our older card readers for whatever reason.
LOL, I had that problem at a store I used to work at. The card was so thick it wouldn't fit through the register scanner. I found the backup scanner and plugged it in. Whew! It had JUST enough room to swipe the card through. This was about a year before chip readers became very widespread in my city.

As I am a part-time waiter, I love what you said “if you have a black card and you give low tip, there is something wrong with you”. I don’t care if you have black card, I treat people better if you leave good tip. I leave 20% tip before discount (and more if they give me more discount) in cash and pay the food with my CSR, I always get good service.
I'm with you Atsawin. Like it or not, the majority of compensation that servers receive is from tips. (At least in the USA - many/most other countries handle the service industry differently.) My default is 20% of the after-tax total, rounded up to the nearest dollar. For lower priced places, I might add a dollar or two on top of that. I always tip on my card though. I don't carry cash.
I disagree. The service industry in the U.S. is working on antiquated notions. The industry doesn’t serve its employees well and as a consumer I’m concerned with my bottom line and not yours. I actually pay more for my haircut and beard trim than I have to. Why? Because I know that my stylist is sought after. I don’t have to tip him. He doesn’t even look for it, because you are paying premium for his services. And his service has to be high quality or he simply won’t have customers willing to pay premium. I much prefer that over tipping someone for giving me the service I EXPECT.
John Mendoza so it comes down to “you have to pay” either premium price without tipping or you “leave” tip for non-premium price. I always work more with parties which gratuity is added to get them feel they are happy to pay for gratuity. At the end it comes to money.
Dave Hanson / Hey there, Dave here. I think either cash or on card is fine. I leave cash tip as personal preference and try to avoid a government agency (you know who they are, lol).

Hey there. Graham Stephan sent me.
Welcome FBA Hustle! Hope you’ll stick around!
The theatrical nature of this video perfectly suits the Centurion Lifestyle. WELL DONE 🥂👌
So you pay for....feeling special. For some people, that’s fine.
Why the fuck am I up at 1am watching this?! I don’t even live in the states haha
I leave cash tip as personal preference and try to avoid a government agency (you know who they are, lol).
who else came from jacky?
Ok, for real, send my card back Dave. I need to pay for my new Lambo and the salesman is giving me a look.
