Saw it once. Heaviest card I ever held. Worked at a pharmacy once and an attorney pulled it out. Didn’t know what it was at the time but it was heavy, black, and Amex. The weight is what I remember most I still have that experience burned in my mind
I used to work at tourneau. The majority of our customers paid with Amex black. The best thing was this guy tried to hit on our pretty sales lady by showing off his. He told her I bet you have never seen one of these before. We all had a good laugh at her story.
@@talinb2353Nah. That means he gpt his first ever Amex card in 2023. Lets say i get an green card today and cancel it tomorrow. Then in 20 years i get a Gold card, its gonna say «Member since 23» on the gold card aswell
I think it means he is an AmEx member since 2023. Since there is no way to get the Centurion card upon becoming member through the green and gold and platinum and then centurion if invited. So @piere212 maybe right when he was curious.
I’ve seen the Centurion card in person once in my life. I was at a bar in San Francisco and the guy in front of me at the bar dropped his. I went to pick it up for him, saying, “Dude you dropped…” then he purposely stepped on my hand so I couldn’t touch it 💀
Can confirm that I’ve seen/held 3 in my life so far. The “old” centurion card feels much better and similar to the Apple Card or delta reserve “plane” edition. New ones feel to be built the same as the current platinum and have that duller ring when dropped. I doubt I’ll ever have one personally but cool to see and feel!
I’ve heard the same thing from current cardholders. Apparently the old version were way better! I was still happy to get to unbox this one, but it’d be cool to see them all lined up next to each other.
I’ve bumped into it twice at the restaurant I work at. It really is a sight. I don’t normally watch unboxings but you got me with this one. My first thought was that TH-cam was indeed paying that well lol. Keep on going bud!
That's so cool! And I'm glad you enjoyed this one. It was too good of an experience for me to pass up sharing with y'all! Thank you so much for the support too man!
My first thought was TH-cam is paying more than I realized 😂. Extremely cool unboxing and it’s very kind of the subscriber to let you show off the card. Thanks for sharing!
I did a seasonal job at Williams Sonoma back when I was in my early 20s. I have held 2 of them while working there. It was the Sherman Oaks location so a lot of rich folks.
I used to work from brookstone at the airport. I’ve held so many centurion cards. The original centurion was much heavier and more metal. The new is mixed with plastic
The question that comes to mind for me at 9:50 is that he is a member since 2023(current year) and the card is valid thru 03/28 which means he not only got into Amex portfolio this year but he was invited in march🤯
I used to work as a server at Red Lobster in El Paso, Texas. And it's been the only time I've seen belonging to the owner of Fred Loya Insurance, and he was a regular there, but it's an awesome time feeling the metal card
I've seen 4 in my life, working at various retail over the years. One was a pro baseball player, and one was a famous actor. I won't name them, obviously, but I remember my reaction to the first one; I was like "oh, thats a metal credit card, weird' The person was like "oh yeah, it's a little nicer than a regular card, haha" I had no idea at the time, so I looked into it, and.. of course was surprised even more to find out what it was.
I actually saw one in person. A guy came into my job and paid with it. You’d never suspect he would have one. The card totally draws your eye. Even being black it sticks out from others.
I have seen the card once in my life. A friend of mine at a Dining place when they were doing karaoke has the centurion card. I saw the card and they also have the JP Morgan Palladium card. They let me touch their cards and let me tell you, they are heavy. I did tell them that I've seen TH-cam videos on both. And I also have a friend who has the platinum card. That card is a beautiful card as well. They have the older platinum card since there is still active and it's still says platinum under American express on the front. So when theirs expires if they still have it, they will get the current 1 that says American Express only in the front and in the back of the card it says platinum. I still have my American express grreen card. It's my only charge card with American express. I also have the no fee everyday card, Blue business plus, blue business cash and the Amazon prime business card
I was a salesman on Savile Row, London - selling bespoke suiting. I held one and charged the customer accordingly. I’m convinced the card accepted quicker than regular cards when charged.
Man, you are lucky! Most of us will never get to experience that card in person. I have to admit it is one of the best-looking cards on the market although the old-style Platinum card wooden box is pretty cool as well and much easier obtained lol. Great video!
I know right! I was super stoked to be able to share this experience with y’all. It’s one I’ll never forget!! I never got to see the old wooden box for the platinum card but I bet that was a fun experience too. Thank you for watching as always!
Woo! Very cool looking card there Spencer! That’s awesome that you were able to get your hands on a Centurion card and you could share it with everyone! Something to aspire to right?! 😅
My exgf had this card when we were 17yoa- well before they made the switch to metal. I remember they sent the updated metal card in 2005/06. The same large box was sent, and I remember thinking "oh shit, did I miss her bday, or special occasion" bc I legit thought they were chocolate's or something like it. I knew she had the card, but would never think the box contained a CC. 🤣🤣 Fyi she was an authorized user from her father, who was the primary.
I have actually seen it in person like 3-4 times at my friends and their cards looked way more fancy than the one you’re holding there. I don’t know if they customized it or something but it had like a green holo kind of pattern on it which made it even more special
In 2000 fourteen, my co-worker had an amex centurion card. At the time I did not know what that card meant. We were walking into the delta sky club and he used to gain entrance for us. He told me it was made out of titanium. All I can tell you is it was some sort of metal. Neither one of us is rich or wealthy. How he got the card was that? His brother owned a construction company and he was buying the material. With his amex platinum card. When they raise the fees of having the card came he canceled it. And then proceeded to give the canceled card to his 8 year old nephew.
That's a cool story!! I imagine running all those construction costs through their Platinum card really helped in getting the Black card. Idk if this card is worth the fees, but we'll cover that in another video.
Lol they kept sending me invite for the black card and I kept shredding it. I am 100% sure the reason not many people don’t have this is not because they weren’t invited but because they don’t want it. Who in their right mind would pay $5000 just to have this card?! Unless you are showing off. But in all honesty if you really are rich you don’t need to shove it in everyone’s face by paying for a coffee with a black card 😂
You don’t have to be extremely wealthy. I’m talking about billionaires or so. No you only need to spend 150-500k per year then they will invite you. My roommate has this card so I know 😮
So is the “member since” for the centurion or as an Amex member? Because imagine this person applied for first Amex in Jan 2023 and then got invited shortly thereafter!! 🤯
Amex Cent is not even in the top 5-7 most exclusive CC/Charge. Any ways, the new ones look cleaner, but the OG cards had a bling factor. Seemed a lot more premium.
I’m a server in the hamptons so probably 2 months ago this couple came to the restaurant, they were pretty nice , when I dropped the check they put the centurion one , I was like wt* I was talking to other servers , they didn’t have any clue about it but it was a good moment to see this card
That’s a cool story! It’s kinda crazy your coworkers had never even heard of the black card before… I feel like it’s one of those cards that almost everyone at least has some knowledge of.
I'm glad you liked it K! It's definitely a card that has a certain prestige to it so seeing it in person is a pretty cool feeling. Btw, that green badge is looking really solid by your name!!

I remember one or two customers paying with a black card...it was pre-2008 when many people were rolling in dough.

If you’ve ever seen George Clooney in “Up In the Air”, he gets American Airlines version of this. The big benefit is that they put your name on the side of a plane.
So cool that your subscriber sent that to you to review! in my line of work and living in NYC I've held and came in contact with the Black card a few times. I mostly come across the business version however. Great vid as always Spencer 🔥
Based on a domain name and phone number specified on a card - it is Dutch AmEx. Do benefits differ for Dutch version of Centurion the same way it differs for Platinum card (compared to US benefits)?
thankfully I was able to see 2 of these in my life time, and I'm only in my 20s. One was when I was 16 working my first job at a Fast Food Restaurant working it the Drive Thru. It was this older lady pulled up in a Rolls Royce. 2, was My moms boyfriend. there know longer together but, your really get treated differently with it. since they thought I was his Son.
*Anyone in the high end retail or service industry have the highest likelihood of handling a Black Card in person. At least, for us peasants.* Personally, I saw my first one when working as a cashier at Barnes & Noble. My Father’s Boss came up to my register, and used it to pay for his books. I told him he needed to give my Dad (CFO) a raise if he is running around with a Black Card in his wallet. He laughed at least. 😂 Later in life, I worked in the premium cigar industry as a manager working at a luxury cigar bar/lounge in Pittsburgh called _BURN by Rocky Patel,_ and saw them on a regular basis. The first thing you notice is the weight. The thing is made out of metal, and it is heavy. Other than that, you cross your fingers for a great tip when they get their bill.
Ive seen this card everywhere in my country 😂 Ppl can made the design of this card onto custom emoney or flazz which can be used to pay the carpark at the mall, freeway, etc 😂
I have this card and no I’m not lying. My unboxing was exactly the same. The initiation fee was way too expensive IMO. In person it is nothing out of this world to look or hold…..maybe 20 years ago but not anymore compared to the other metal cards out there these days. Whenever i’ve handed the card to pay nobody has ever reacted any different at all. In fact i even up using Apple Pay 80% of the time now. The perks are okay but not worth the price IMO. I think i lost the Prada bracelet and never used it once. Even tho the platinum sucks now but I’m still debating if I’m going to keep the centurion card and for now it’s just in my wallet scuffed up.
I touched the card once recently and the JP Morgan palladium card. I know 1 friend that has both And I was shocked when I saw them with it. I gave them mad respect.
crazy that he got it and only been member since 2023, i thought i was quick i got one and im a member since 2019. seen one in the centurion group that got his with 2022 tho.
Such a sick video Spencer! 🔥 This is by far the sexiest card out there. Does that mean when u get ur Centurion card you'll let one of us unbox it for you? 😂
Thank you Chase! I was definitely really fortunate to get to have this experience and share it with everyone. And you know what? You may be onto something there 👀🤣
Hey Spence! Do you think it’s worth getting the platinum card with out any offer for points? Sadly the pop up is the worst but I have a couple vacations coming up and would love to use the perks for it
Hey man! I’d strongly suggest not applying for it until you get a welcome offer on it. Considering Amex has a once in a lifetime welcome offer rule, if you get the card without a bonus that means you’ll never be able to get one on the card (at least not for 7-10 years). Considering how high the SUB is on the Platinum usually, you’d be missing out on one of the biggest bonuses you’d ever get on a card so I’d hold off. However, you could just add another luxury travel card in the meantime instead if you wanted! Then you could downgrade that one after a year and add the platinum card down the road. That’s just my take on it though.
in my job i see these cards all the time as well as the JP Morgan Platinum and for me the JP morgan one is more rare than the black one. and i have seen all the 3 new designs and the old black card which is like a black version of the apple card
My goal in life is to collect them all. Are you getting the SW business card since you fly SW primary? If I had an EIN, I would consider it but I’m not in a good position to get one rn.
That's the dream! And I could see myself adding the SW Biz card one day. I've kinda been saving it for when I wanna go for that companion pass. Also, you could always grab it as a sole prop if you wanted to.
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficialFor sure. Answered my own question after I watched your QnA vid from the other day. I actually just got approved for the VentureX, so that’ll take my spend. If I project enough spend by mid August, I might go for the SW business card.
I was working at a liquor shop in CT prob 15 year ago when some women pulled one out. I googled her name after she left. It was the billionaire founder of Spanx.
Seen one while selling furniture, Shoulda known the guy was loaded when he didn't blink at the price and bought the first things he seen. He swiped around 10k+ with no hesitation.
The qualifications are not public knowledge. Even when people claim they spend hundreds of thousands on Amex annually for years, an invite is not automatic.
As I mentioned in the video, that will be covered in a future video. There aren't exact qualifications, but there are data points I'll pull for the video.
I am a assistant general manager for a sweet green location and I have seen two customers with that card (amex black card) and one JP Morgan reserve credit card or the 10 million dollar
So busy the past couple days it took me till now to finish the video. Section by section. Love the card look. To have the kind of money to just spend on things to be "invited" to get the card. One can only dream. Just don't be a credit Shifu and shoot the card with a shotgun. You could get it re-engraved with your name and have the chip replaced woth your platinum card chip. Pretty sure someone out their could do it.
No worries at all man! I appreciate you watching nonetheless. And you bring up an interesting idea to have my information put in it, but tbh, I kinda wanna reserve it as a collectible of sorts so I’ll likely just leave it as is and show it in videos from time to time. Maybe one day we’ll have one of our own!
Amazing Card as always, I had in my hand 4 black Centurion mostly here in Netherland, I get my Platinum and I had bad experience, I get my Platinum card with a fu.... normal post I mean a shit letter as I got with the green card and the gold one, no Box ! Nice video! I can't imagine I will ever get one so this is really eye-opening!
I appreciate that man! This video is one that a lot of people seem super interested in, so I'm happy to see that! It's definitely a unique experience that I doubt I'll ever have with my own black card haha.
Nice, I like the Tom ford card holder better than the wrist bracelet
If you’ve ever seen George Clooney in “Up In the Air”, he gets American Airlines version of this. The big benefit is that they put your name on the side of a plane.
not to brag but ive come in to contact with 2 working as a cashier at portillo’s
Nice that you have the dutch version of the card. Care to go over all the benefits?
So cool that your subscriber sent that to you to review! in my line of work and living in NYC I've held and came in contact with the Black card a few times. I mostly come across the business version however. Great vid as always Spencer 🔥
I know right!! Definitely fortunate to get to see this one in person. That's cool you've gotten to see it too!!
At least, for us peasants.*
Personally, I saw my first one when working as a cashier at Barnes & Noble. My Father’s Boss came up to my register, and used it to pay for his books. I told him he needed to give my Dad (CFO) a raise if he is running around with a Black Card in his wallet. He laughed at least. 😂
Later in life, I worked in the premium cigar industry as a manager working at a luxury cigar bar/lounge in Pittsburgh called _BURN by Rocky Patel,_ and saw them on a regular basis.
I work as a receptionist in a luxurious hotel in Japan, as seen one of these and it took about 10 minutes to realize it was a real black amex 😅
My uncle got the amex black, it looks so cool 😅
I’ve seen and touched that card several times. Lol. I mean, it tends to happen when u work in Customer Service.
I touched the card once recently and the JP Morgan palladium card. I know 1 friend that has both And I was shocked when I saw them with it. I gave them mad respect.
That's awesome man!! It's a cool card to get to see in person for sure.
I’m truly happy with the gold and platinum
crazy that he got it and only been member since 2023, i thought i was quick i got one and im a member since 2019. seen one in the centurion group that got his with 2022 tho.
You may be onto something there 👀🤣
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial hahahh well i call dibs first! 🙋🏼♀
That's awesome dude!!! Such an epic card. 😍
Thanks Josh! Definitely fortunate to get to see this one up close and personal.
Elegant card 👌, cool gift!
I thought so too!
So the subscriber is a member since 2023,, got a centurion card immediately, and already killed the card? I don't understand.
Time doesn’t matter anyone can get approved as long as the requirements are met
This video is like a LinkedIn post about a Udemy course.
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial appreciate the insight Spence! Going to wait
Video starts at 8:30 after a lesson in Yapolgy.
in my job i see these cards all the time as well as the JP Morgan Platinum and for me the JP morgan one is more rare than the black one. and i have seen all the 3 new designs and the old black card which is like a black version of the apple card
I’d like to hear more about the re-design possibilities with the card for the €100
I can definitely cover that in a future video!
i just got my second credit card hope one day to get close to this
The backside is almost similar to the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant…
I haven't seen that one, but I could imagine that they're similar!
i worked at dominos and i was cashing some guy out for his pizzas and he casually pulled this thing out i was both impressed and surprised
What I’ve gathered from the title is, if a TH-camr has it, it’s not the most exclusive in the world 😂
I was working at a liquor shop in CT prob 15 year ago when some women pulled one out. I googled her name after she left. It was the billionaire founder of Spanx.
I wish you had tried the wearable on just to see how it looked on you. I know I would have.
member since 23 is wild if you think about it
My dad owns a restaurant in the richest county in PA, I’ve seen four of these cards from 4 different customers
Hmmm, time to do some business in PA.. 😄
Why did you call it a dead card? Did the subscriber cancel it?
It’s a replacement card so it’s not active. His active one is back home with him but has a different card number.
One of the few advertisement to get it ... Its not even listed in amex website
Seen one while selling furniture,
Shoulda known the guy was loaded when he didn't blink at the price and bought the first things he seen.
He swiped around 10k+ with no hesitation.
I think this card has unlimited credit limit
you didnt go over how you qualify for this card or what you need to spend? or is that not a thing and this card is strictly invite?
The qualifications are not public knowledge. Even when people claim they spend hundreds of thousands on Amex annually for years, an invite is not automatic.
The qualifications is rich, anything else?
As I mentioned in the video, that will be covered in a future video. There aren't exact qualifications, but there are data points I'll pull for the video.
I've see it many times, but I never knew there are so few of them.
There's is 2 cards above that one, but it's not public
this card just called me poor in 69 different ways.
This person has only been an Amex member for 7 months and managed to get a Black Card! 😳
Haha they're the real deal.
U don’t need time with Amex for one just have to meet the requirements lol
I’m gonna get this one day
I am a assistant general manager for a sweet green location and I have seen two customers with that card (amex black card) and one JP Morgan reserve credit card or the 10 million dollar
That’s pretty awesome! I’d love to see a JP Morgan Reserve card one day.
VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED FOR THE STATUS AND WHAT I PAY TO GET THE PLATINUM.
It's not a credit card. It's a charge card.
I'm 37 and I've come across them 3x
Did he tell you what kind of rewards, credits & access the card gives you?
But all that and they can’t hand tailor a bracelet for the customers needs?
More information coming in a future video!! And yeah, it was kinda weird that they won't customize the product for you...
I will get one someday
“ instead of using an Apple Watch with multiple cards, your gunna have a luxury Apple Watch with one card. “ 😂
member since 23, crypto bro!! lol... JK, grats to the subsciber!!
