    I jump into Assetto Corsa to give a first impression comparison of how the cars drive differently and what aspects of physics and FFB stand out the most.

    Comparing a $6 simulator to a $600 sim is totally fair ...

    • @nuu3085

      The FFB sermon: so predictable. So you got to 5k iRating without knowing "where the tires are at". Probably a world first

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +84

      @@nuu3085 yep you can play any sim with no FFB if you want to and just memorize what you can and can't do.
      The Amazing thing with ffb is it gives you a range of information to make finding the limit way more initiative and way quicker requiring much less trile and error and massively ruducing the chance of just binning the car and having no idea what happened.

    • @Litl_Skitl
      @Litl_Skitl ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Funny thing what you've said about the grip is that 17psi is fairly underpressured for the MX-5. I forgot for Brands but the pressure for Laguna is like 20psi. That might also play a part in why it feels like you have less grip. Also wrong alignment in stock setup.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +27

      @@Litl_Skitl AC is like that with all cars though relatively speaking even with optimum track grip and perfect car setup.
      I think it's why lots of people that don't play AC much think of it as being sloppy and understeery compared to iracing , as they are used to more initial bite and more lift off oversteer and turn in from brake before the car is on the tires.
      They also ignore FFB and go into corners too hot and because of how you have to drive in iracing they don't know you can get the car onto the tires and then things actually drive as if you have more grip than iracing.

    • @demkon

      ive spent way too much money in iRacing and I completely agree with him. If you want to boil down the whole video to ffb sermon you are mission a couple other big points.

      LFM isn't the first attempt at that kind of service. It's a bit of a mystery why LFM in particular caught momentum. Starting with a tightly packed, highly populated game that only needed a well-designed and properly curated ranked system on top of it is probably one of the reasons. AC, while cheap and popular, isn't really used to race by a majority of players. It grew to be more of a car sandbox, where you can put together any kind of combo and mess around.

      The problem with AC is, that it transmits things to your hands when they should be in your butt in a real racecar.
      But iRacing is even missing all those things and the physics are horrendous!
      There’s no tire slip and leaning the car onto the tires, which is everything in a real racecar.

It's so much fun, to just take a joy cruise on the highway, move to the side and let loose the engine hearing the turbo roar into work and moving through traffic, before letting off the throttle and settling in again.
    I got the Thrustmaster TX wheel and all though i don't have a drivers license, your comparison to go-karts struck right. In both AC and when driving Go-karts you do feel in the wheel where the limit of the tires are, and you can adjust as need be.

I bet you could race using guitar hero guitar or a dancing mat if you tried hard enough. And it could run on a total potato while still looking like it released last year on a good machine. I drive a Maserati Gransport in real life, and often hard. My experience is that reality is sometimes snappier than AC, but if you react quickly, easily caught. It feels nothing like iRacing, which feels like driving in the rain all the time
    Having said that, neither quite captures the sheer brutality of what many consider only a "moderately" quick car (0-100kmh in 4.7 seconds, 0-200kmh in circa 16.5 seconds, max speed 290 kmh)
    You'll hear many people rubbishing a Maserati granturismo (granted it was slower than my car, it's predecessor) or even the granturismo S (about equal to my car), but behind the wheel those cars are BRUTAL
    To summarise I would say in real life quick cars snap faster than in AC, but at the same time, because you feel everything much better, it's actually EASIER to drive fast
    iRacing's tyre model feels more inspired by grand prix legends than reality, which, granted, is where it mostly all began for serious PC simracing and was my first serious Sim (Indianapolis 500 doesn't count lol), but having had the benefit of much more experience of fast real cars, AC seems much more realistic to me (and I really liked it from when I think Kunos first released just the Ferrari 360 test demo that preceded AC)

      i drive and track a Giulia Quadrifoglio and this is my biggest problem with these sims as well, ive spun out so much in ac,acc and iracing and managed to save it but in real life if you slide or start spinning out it happens so fast like a snap and its insanely hard to correct it and most times impossible, ive been lucky enough to not damage the car since the first time it happened i havent pushed the car to the limit anymore

    Great video mate, level headed overview and I enjoyed watching you go through that process. All I read lately are mid 40's guys on sim racing facebook groups that swear by iRacing and call assetto a "game" etc. I'm trying to get into iRacing, really giving it every chance to like it, but finding it very difficult. I'm a fast IRL driver, fast driver in assetto with tons of wins on LFM, and hopped in the Miata on iracing to compare and its just mind boggling. Where is the feeling? The first time I drove assetto it was incredible, the way the weight transfers and the tires load up and how you can slide the car felt just like I was driving my car in real life. iRacing any little slide greases the tires, you can't control it. NO forcefeed back feel.. its insane

    I loaded a very old mod of a jag prototype that would break the axle and collapse it, but the wheels would still spin. I slid into a wall sideways. Somehow, the rear wheels got pushed into the car and set at 90 degrees. I stepped on the gas and the car started to spin like a top, leaving circular skidmarks like doodles all over the road. The wheels really do propel the car.

    I can't limit my driving to work within the confines of a physics engine, or rather keep it from going beyond the limits of the physics. Maybe there's good physics within those limits, but at the edge of grip and beyond, there's no realistic physics, if any at all. When I start performance driving a real car, I always push it into oversteer and understeer so I know its limits. I'm not really testing a car unless I'm making the tires chirp and squeal. Then in a competitive situation, I know if I can push the car outside of grip and if I can bring it back, as that may give me an advantage. in iRacing, you can't do that.

    100% agree. On both ACC and AC I can feel the weight transfer and grip level better - as you say, it’s intuitive. In my experience the trick is to keep damping and/or minimum force low on mid range wheels so that this transition isn’t drowned out by the cornering force. When I put up damping it feels more like a real car but if it steps out I can’t feel it and generally spin, whereas with low damping the wheel feels a bit light in a straight line but I know the instant grip changes in the corners. Personal preference I guess

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can't feel the limit of grip in ACC that's just suspension compression , ACC has no dynamic range for the limit.
      You can test it by doing a long corner with car loaded up on one side and then go on and off the accelerator and you will see the car wash out with no change to FFB , outside of the track texture / bumps coming through FFB.
      ACC has a more forgiving tire model than iracing at the limit , but it has less dynamic FFB for the limit than iracing.
      Once you notice this it totally ruins ACC , you have to drive both ACC and iracing in the same robotic way of memorizing what the car does and then driving entirely preemptively , where as AC allows you to drive in the moment.
      But yah AC1 is on another level

    Good video and I'm glad you liked AC as its still my favourite sim after 5 years of driving it.
    I also have ACC, AMS1&2, Raceroom, Project Cars 2 and an updated GTR2 and also spent time with rFactor2, which I didn't get on with.
    It seems that SIMS are subjective and open to personal interpretation as well as conditioning. In 2023 I spent a couple of months driving Raceroom only and I enjoyed it. However, when I went back to AC, I was hopeless as it's just different. After a couple of weeks on AC, driving Raceroom feels odd and I'm slow again......
    I don't have an idea about what's good or bad but suspect that when you find a SIM that you're comfortable with, then stick to it rather than jumping between several (which I'm guilty of).

Embarassing to see cars not even close one another take off in the air...With what you paty for iRacing you can get ACC, AC, RFactor 2, Race Room and if you like taking off in the air you can add Flight Simulator...

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yah AC has great FFB with any wheel , I first played it with G25.
      Typically the sims with the most detail tend to also work on cheaper wheels better , the sims with less detail require you to have a DD to be able to then feel more subtle hidden details. But a DD with AC is magic.
      Basically FFB wheel just magnifies what is there.

    • @JReaLBiz86

      I'm using a Fanatec CSR wheel from 12 years ago. With the wheel and game tuned properly (as well as a properly programmed LUT for your wheel), you get an amazing amount of detail from even my wheel. The forces you feel under braking, over curbs, during oversteer and understeer, accelerating, and even trudging through the gravel pits, is very true to life. A DD wheel will obviously offer greater detail, but you can still learn how to feel a car with mid-tier equipment in AC.

    I recognize what you describe about the force feedback feeling in AC. But I have to say I have this feeling a lot more in the old rFactor. Not the standard version of rFactor, but with the plugins Real Feel and Leo ForceFeedback installed. Leo FFB in particular makes the translation of the sense of understeer and oversteer to ffb very good. It is true that it is difficult to set up Real Feel and Leo FFB properly, but once that has been done, it feels a lot better to me than AC. AC is the only sim that also has that feeling. It's missing in all the other sims I've driven. I sometimes try the same car and track in different sims and every time the old rFactor wins by a long shot when it comes to the feeling in the force feedback. For the rest, rFactor is hopelessly outdated. But at the end of the day it's all about the driving itself and that's why I still love the old rFactor.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Factor 1 and 2 have more tug and load for suspension compression especially with road cars / old cars ( obviously cars with more suspension travel and roll)
      In AC it's more that the force loads on the wheel also describe how much grip is in the tire and how much you are pushing the tires.
      RF1 RF2 once suspension is compressed / under maximum load you don't get more detail and you can't then feel when the tires will give out from the FFB.
      It's still way better than iracing though but I think that's just because there is more controllable slip than iracing.
      With road cars as well you might go over the limit before suspension is fully compressed which would then give a player a range of force load to in there mind align with how much grip tires have / how much they are pushing onto tires.
      Who knows maybe in AC it's from suspension as well but it seems to line up with available grip with every car from Road to F1.

      @@GamerMuscleVideos You are talking about rFactor 1 and 2. I am not. The things which the Real Feel plug in for rF1 do are build into rF2. But things which Leo FFB do are in not build into rF2. As far as I know there is no Leo FFB for rF2. So talking about rF1 and rF2 in comparison with AC if it goes about what Leo FFB is doing for rF1 is missing the point. It may all be true what you say, but it is something different than what Leo FFB does. I think if you like the AC ffb more or if you like the rF1 with Real Feel and Leo FFB more is just a matter of personal preference. I know rF1 is a much older sim than AC and rF1 simulates less then AC in all directions.

      yep, the real feel was the game changer for me also, old days with MS FF, now I'm happy with T300 and AC, but have some experience with iR as well

    I racing for me feels nothing like pushing a car, the smallest infraction and there's no saving it.
    Honestly Iracing is harder than real driving.

    I think the biggest thing AC FFB communicates is the yaw moment or rotation the car is undergoing. It's probably a slight opposite torque that increases with the yaw moment. Also a good experiment to see the difference with added effects to FFB is to try the unmodified custom, default and default plus profiles on Ams2. The first is just based on steering rack forces and the other ones add more effects based on car dynamics

      Yah AMS2 / project cars 2 ablity to actually let you fully customize FFB is a great way to help one understand how different FFB / ways of generating FFB can affect the driving experience.

    I find AC FFB actually pretty weird. Sometimes it spews out bs, the curb physics is very bad (suspension model) and the FFB over them is completely over emphasized for some reason.
    This is with LUT gen and Wheel check and all the mods I put. But for $5 it's unbeatable sim for PC.
    On the tyre side, not bad, but few games give me the tyre feel like GT7 and LFS.

    Kunos aren't mental.. they are Italian... 😇🤣
    You're mostly telling me now, what I've been trying to tell you for years...
    17:28 AC default setups are on the soft spungy and safe side... but you can setup your rear diff and toe and caster for a more reactive car... But you can then still feel what the tires are doing..
    The problem with the tire model is that Iracing (Iceracing) was build on the GPL engine.. which had the same issue... and is also almost 25-ish years old now...
    I like to streetrace with traffic in AC a lot... Shutoko Revival Project is an awesome map for running with traffic and friends.. and with a bit of server modding you can race online with friends through AI traffic... Even thinking about it I can't get the grin of my face...
    And I've always been telling you FFB in AC is great.. for the driving experience.. I run in VR and sometime I forget I'm not actually in a car... And I actually start feeling acceleration and deceleration g-forces.. My brain just feels like it's floating forward if I'm braking... It's not, but it's the same thing as when you're in a train and the train next to you pulls out of the station... you get the sensation of going backwards (depending on you seating position)

    AC is focused on the game itself and does not have iRacing scope creep into forums, podcasts, UI changes, and their failure to lock down IndyCar licensing rights.

    Hey what are you toughs on racerroom about the driven feel or like you call it range on the edge

  • @reneengelke3218
    @reneengelke3218 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Interesting, after 1k hours in AC I tried IRacing and must say it felt almost the same to me, only difference I felt was under braking. IR braking seems to punish harder braking more than AC does but getting used to the IR brakes also improved my AC driving so I might have developed bad habits and didnt notice them before. The only other difference was on the limit, I had one or two spins in IR that I didnt really expect and couldnt really explain. Switching from the 458 GT2 in AC to the 488 GTE in IR, both felt very very similar and I was right up to speed. The racing in IR is better but not any cleaner (at least not in rookies or d class).

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      iracings tires get stuck on and over the limit , if you drive under the limit it's fine.
      Unfortunately balancing a car at the limit is the core of driving fast , outside of all the robotic aspects of brake point general brake modulation race line ect.
      At best in iracing you can follow the car through a power slide or ride out understeer / oversteer.
      if iracing can get the tires to not get stuck over limit / stuck from overheating then it would be very close to AC in many ways and arguably in some ways better.
      Until that is fixed you can't drive cars like cars , which is a bit of a problem for a sim.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mods massively improved graphics ,but the cars and tracks built into the game are also great.
      For some reason it's a meme and myth that AC has to be modded to be good.
      Some of the cars built into the game are some of the best in simracing.

    and this is why after 3 years (and almost 4k rating) i ditched iRacing for AC. the driving feel is on another level and if you look in the right place you can find the same level of comeptition of iRacing, i personally play on worldsimseries (wich is embended in ContentManager) at the level of drivers there is super high. don't get me wrong, i love iRacing, what that sim do is incredible in terms of graphic optimization, multiplayer and physics/crash physics. wasn't easy to move past it, but tbh not sure i will ever go back.
