I think the black banner overwhelms in this case and takes away from the delicate flowers. While the oval frames the picture, the bleed into the bottom is a nice touch. The chunky banner takes away from it and makes it feel off-balance. The first card is lovely and delicate and balanced.
I usually shy away from black mats, but… I like the banner where it is. It anchors the card and picks up the black from both the frame and the stamped silhouette images. We can totally agree to disagree. : )

Your ink blending is beautiful! I’ve been practicing and I’m getting better...finally! I just love the look of silhouette stamps on an inked blended background, and your cards are simply gorgeous! Just maaahvalous! Gina’s kit is a must have for sure!
The brushes have made it all possible for me! Never did get the hang of the blending foams.

She really is. When I first started making cards, every single night I would get into bed, pull out the iPad and watch video after video from Gina's channel. She is such a good teacher and I really have been tremendously influenced by her teaching style. Also, I'm lucky to call her a friend in real life. She's a lovely human with a heart of gold.

When you talked about the edge of your card sometimes having a lip I will take the Teflon bone folder and run it across that edge and it will reduce/eliminate it.

Beautiful cards Cathy! - I have always loved the love of silhouette images - Next time you use the wrong side of the cardstock, before you glue it down, just run your bone folder over the edges and it will help to flatten that ridge down! Happy 4th!

Gorgeous Cards Cathy 🥰❤😊 I Love Sunsets and these make the best Sunsets. I've done the same thing on as you did, putting the Cardstock up side down. I just take my Bone Folder and slide it across the ugly wrong side as I call it🤭giggles🤭 and it takes that seam right out🥰❤😊❣ but it does not work if you have put foam tape behind your piece, than Houston we do have a problem got to live with it. 99.99% of the time they don't even notice that little Boo Boo. I think I'm going to try it on a Slimline Card I think that would be very Beautiful. I do Love your Cards, there Beautiful.

Another great video Cathy and a learning moment for this newbie! I always learn a new technique when I watch your videos. Do your cutting pads for your Spellbinder warp? They always seem so straight and clean.
Oh, they do… want to know my secret? Ready? I just replace them every two months. Part of why I do this isn't the warping, it's how marred up they get and as soon as I see anything being transferred to the paper that should not be there, I replace the plate. Sometimes I just replace the bottom one, move what was the top to the bottom (typically it's much cleaner) and bring in a new top. And proceed. Clear as mud?

When you use the Gina K connect glue in that little holder, does it slide down and touch the bottom? I am wondering if it leaks glue, or it touching the bottom keeps it down and ready, but not flowing out. Does that make sense? Did I word that right? Basicly does glue leak out all over if put in the little face down holder? Thanks Cathy
It kind of stops the flow but what I do is put a little piece of purple tape (low tack tape) on the base so that if there is any drips (because it hardens and then builds up!), i collect it on the tape and replace the tape. But mostly, it doesn't keep flowing unless you are squeezing. Now, sometimes, if there is built up pressure in the glue bottle, it does. But usually, no!

I have a silly question Cathy. It’s about the brushes. Do you keep ONE brush for ALL the greens,and ONE for ALL THE reds etc or do you have a brush for EACH of the greens and a brush foe EACH red etc. Very much enjoy your vids! Thank you and blessings!
Okay, good question: i have one set of brushes that I keep for using with my dye inks, and another set for my oxides or other pigment inks (though I only have oxides!) That way i don't have to clean them in between! And I'll use my dye brushes with Gina's inks, and then with my Tim Holtz Distress inks but won't wash between! I just rub them on paper towels if i change ink brands. Clear as mud?

Hi Cathy, I have a question about your blending brushes. I see a lot of people colour code them, and I've heard you shouldn't use the same brushes for oxide inks, dye inks and pigment inks, etc. If you *were* someone who washed your brushes between each use, would that still be an issue, or could they then be multi-purpose? I know, it's probably a silly question :D
You can totally use the same brushes for either a dye ink or a pigment/oxide. And honestly? Do you HAVE to wash them between? I have done it both ways. If you rub the brush on a paper towel long enough, you'll get most of the ink off, and then you can switch inks. Now, does the pigment/oxide stick around longer on that brush? It does, so it could taint the color of the dye ink you're using.
That said, you know how some crafters just like to have more things? That's me. Lol. Although this is my work life, as well, so when I get that second set of brushes it's part of my work and I feel less guilty! Lol. But no… you can totally use the same brushes. I did for a LONG time. And I would wash in-between when i switched from a pigment/oxide project to one with dye ink. I just had to make sure I let them dry long enough in between. Sometimes, when i was impatient, I'd wash them… pop 'em into a cup and place them in front a little fan I have in my office. : ) Great question!
@@czdesign Thanks so much - this is what I thought but it's nice to have it confirmed. This isn't my job (although boy do I wish it was :P) so it's nice to know I can build up a brush collection slowly and still mix and match.
So... you should never reveal your errors unless of course it’s to show us how you fixed your mistake. It was unnoticeable until you brought it to our attention. I loved both cards-you are amazing!

You know, it could be someone gets recommended my video, but it's not their cup of tea, so it's their way of telling TH-cam "Don't show me any more by this person." Someone told me that once and I thought, "Oh, okay… i get it." Although I personally have never given anyone a thumbs down on TH-cam. I just have never seen a craft video that offended me. Lol!
