I'm very impressed by Dusty Diamond's All Star Softball. I don't think I'm going to play it now, but if I had that as a kid, I'd have loved it. So many characters and the thing just oozes charm. And it has different house rules for each stage? That's the kind of game I would have ranked in my Top 10 as a kid for sure.
I agree. 9 year old me would have created a league in my trapperkeeper with schedules and records. I would have figured out "a" min/max eventually through enough tinkering. Such a nerd..
its a better game than it first seems. each character has different strengths, like being able to float to rob fly balls, run fast, etc. there is like a tournament mode. the final game is against a hidden team called the “amazons”-all green women. its a very good game. really fun head to head too
FINALLY MACH RIDER! I've been waiting to see your take on this since you started doing this. This was also one of my very first NES games I got, along with the Legend of Zelda. The gameplay obviously is extremely frustrating and not terribly well-made. But the music legitimately is freaking awesome. There are some bangers on the soundtrack.
This content is amazing because I think it showcases that regardless of the games chosen (and I'm saying this with the full understanding that any one person's level of interest in the actual games may vary) that it's Jeff's knowledge, take, and just dumb shittedness that makes this probably my favorite TH-cam series of all time. It's the screentime highlight of the week, every week. Keep slayin' brother. Why stick to consoles? Can science be applied to arcade games or PC Games?!
Growing up, my parents would often play NES games with me and we had Tecmo Super Bowl, which is the one with all the NFL teams and such. We taught my mom the rules of football with that game cause she wanted to play with us. My dad would always pick the raiders tho so hed run it down our throats with Bo Jackson. Tecmo Bowl reminded me of this. This continues to be my favorite series on youtube. Thanks Jeff!
Fun fact, Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle was released as Roger Rabbit in Japan. I only know this because I couldn't find the sound effects for it for one of my meme compilations, but I found the sound effects for the Japanese version and only realized when I heard the theme song.

Edit: as for the Bugs Bunny game, who the hell decided to have the first villain in that game be Sylvester? I've come to respect Karate Kid over the years. It's pretty alright for a licensed game, and it can be satisfying to play once you get into the flow of its enemy spawns and build a healthy supply of attacks. That last level is pretty foul, though. Locking out spawns with kiting is actually the preferred speed-running tactic there because the enemies are so bogus.
You should consider to start taking a glance at instruction manuals when playing these. The moves (and rules) in WrestleMania are all in there, for every character.
I think Jeff couldn't see the red circles on some cars on Motor City Patrol due to colorblindness. Red circles showed speeding cars, and I think Jeff could only distinguish the yellow ones.
The intriguing mechanical potential of that mermaid game left a hole of desire in my child soul that Aquaria filled much later. IIRC, the NES game really loses coherence midway and obviously would benefit from being a metroidvania but I can't blame them for not managing to develop one all that easily.

This was an interesting group of games for sure. As great and simple as Tecmo Bowl is, Tecmo Super Bowl improves upon it in nearly every way and is my favorite sports game of all-time next to NBA Jam and NHLPA '93. The Little Mermaid is a fun, solid slice of Capcom/Disney goodness, but the rest is a big 'ol pile of Meh. Even Rush 'N Attack seems more mediocre than I remember it being, but at least it's not nearly as dreadful as Motor City Patrol. I've never heard of that game until now and I can clearly see why. Yikesaroo.

Motor City Patrol is very non-colourblind friendly, Jeff could see the building indicators when they were flashing cause of the movement, but couldn't see them when they weren't because they're red and blend in with the rest of the building.

I was kind of impressed by the Mach Rider graphics with how the road looks, with the dithering and smooth turning.
Karate Kid Part II still holds up as a movie and you should absolutely watch it again.
