Plan International began its life in Kenya in 1982. The journey began with the enrolment of children from underprivileged backgrounds under Child Sponsorship framework to ensure that they are connected with sponsors who would, and have, contributed in their journey, improving their livelihoods.
Each year comes with a case load, a group of targeted children that we walk with from zero years up to 18. While each year the number varies, we have had a case load of up to 80,000 children in a year. Over the years, an estimated over 500,000 children have gone through Child Sponsorship Program. After graduation, many have been instrumental in benefitting themselves, their families and communities they grew up in.
In this documentary, some of the alumni under the Child Sponsorship Program from Homabay, Kisumu, Kwale, Kilifi and Machakos narrate their
journey and how the program has impacted their lives and that of their communities.
