Those moments when the orchestra goes silent and the singer starts to sing and it feels like sound of instruments gradually turns into the sound of voice - it's pure magic. Brilliant! What a hard work.
Power, sensitivity, stylistic and technical skills, operatic sense - perhaps the best Male Performance in the recording history? Bravi, Christopher and Voices of Music!!!
This is beyond any doubt the most beautiful rendition of this aria I have ever heard. I'm truly speechless. And my god, the voice: what power, what musicality, what an inspiration! Bravissimo!
@@c.g.marseille4510 take rather the phrase I wrote, "core tone production". The performer's basic, general way of making a sound; the core, essence or centre of their sound. This singer doesn't seem to produce sound without vibrato - it is an integral (though doubtless chosen/trained thus) part of his way of generating a tone. I prefer singers and players whose core sound is "straight" and who only apply vibrato selectively and in varied ways.
I love this piece x galore! I love how you can see how Mr. Lowrey feels what he is performing! I love this kind of performing art. I would love to see him sing in person.
Cecilia Bartolo gave us a rendition to amaze - Christopher has added his counter tenor voice to add a further leave us gasping for more - this version is truly mind blowing and voices of Music cap it off..
How such an influential and genius musician from the Baroque Era be so underrated and known today just for his Four Seasons, its beyong my capacity of understanding...
I think it's slowly changing--Vivaldi was an opera composer who is famous nowadays for his concertos. As more of his complex music is performed, we see the range of his skills.
@@VoicesofMusic Stravinsky went down in my estimation when I read his cheap gibe about Vivaldi having written the same concerto 500 times. Wrong, wrong, wrong!
So happy to find this... seeing Christopher Lowrey perform Farnace with Pinchgut Opera in Australia 2 year ago was a an aha moment, its the most captivating piece I've ever heard.
You could almost "feel" the chill; what a genius Vivaldi was! Incredible execution from an incredible ensemble, as usual, @voices of music. Thank you 💐
First time watching a performance like this. I was absolutely mesmerized for the entire 11 minutes and three seconds. So beautiful. So much passion. Without a doubt the best thing I've stumbled upon on YT for a long, long while.
Absolutely amazing. You can feel every note. Thank you for all the uploads. I'm honored to even be able to listen let alone see these brilliant pieces come to life.
Потрясены до глубины души!!!Идеальное исполнение маэстро и оркестра!!!Высочайшее мастерство!Душа переживала необъяснимой глубины чувства!!!Надмирно!Божественно!Все одарены Господом!!!Благодарны и влюблены!
Emotional truth, superlative musicianship, instinctive integration of singer and musicians - as a professional singer [mezzo] myself, I am grateful and inspired in equal measure by this perforance. Thank you
Truly virtuosic performance by Christopher Lowrey, not just in the music but in the acting as well. The guy really sells it. A Farinelli for our time? (I'm not kidding!)
You can tell he knows how to convey the emotion of the piece by the way the expressions in his face match the piece itself such a beautiful interpretation it’s something to behold Bravo!!!
Brutal Lowrey, su voz llena cada recoveco de la partitura con un sentimiento genuino. Pone todo el registro de su voz al servicio de un empuje dramático notable.
Vivaldi, Purcell, and other composers of that generation knew what bitter cold was like (the winter of 1709 in Europe was colder than any one since and killed many). The period instruments and this countertenor are great at conveying that. "ingombra" is an interesting verb choice too. I don't even know if Italians still use that word.
Amazing special effect / percussion on the harpsichord ! Very cool ! And Christopher Lowrey´s virtuosic singing is just breathtaking ! :D Thanks,VoM,you are the best.
That hard instrument tapping makes this particular song the best from all others. The vocalist and musicians are great and almost everyone commented positive but look for the enthusiastic musician here.
I heard Cecilia Bartoli but must say I am in awe listening to the beauty of Christopher Lowrey's performance and also love counter tenors. what an extraordinary musical experience!
Hi, listening this video with headphones and seeing the musicians is a great experience. I am a fan of Baroque Music , specially Vivaldi, Purcell, Bach, Nicholas Lanier and just discovered the performers of Voices of Music and Christopher Lowrey, I am going to stick around to follow and support their amazing work. Thanks very much. An amazing performance and recording.
I listen to classic rock and 70s easy listening, for the most part. I gotta tell you. This just blew me away. Not only his voice, but the music was so powerful. Thanks. :)

This performance changed my life in some way.
Haunting version of this aria - powerful, dramatic and yet introverted at times. Absolutely mesmerising
I am speechless. This should be shown in schools, I have a little hope in humanity restored with each of these videos.
Thank you.
Don't hold your breathe. 🌬️
That is the most pleasingly sounding version of Vivaldi! Mr. Lowrey sounds like an angel! ❤❤❤
Christopher Lowrey's tone and technique as well as his intrinsic musicianship is of the very highest order.

yes ! en dank-je-wel Dries Brouwers !

Yes!!!😍
This is, by far, the best countertenor I've ever heard. Incredible.
agree !
Too much/overuse of vibrato in his core tone production, but a lovely voice, certainly.

The echo in the space when he goes forte ! Oh ! My ! God ! Permanent chills
It was electrifying on the stage; I'm glad the video captures some of that energy.

Absolutely the second stars of the show in addition to the beautiful venue.
His voice control is insane. And yes the period instruments make a big difference.

Oï Bartolo is a character in Rossini , Bartoli is the name haha
The musicality in this brought me immediately to tears, this is absolutely beautiful.
I've heard this with modern instruments and always felt something was missing. Man do period instruments make a difference!
They do make a textural difference.
Only 18 century vocal chords missing and then we'll truly have a fabulous performance
