Beautiful music. This vocal interpretation is by all means the most impressive singing skill ever. I have listened to many other highly rated classical professionals, both male and female performing this particular piece, but Andreas Scholl‘s interpretation is a class of it‘s own, beyond perfect.
Well, perfection is an absolute maximum, so it's impossible to be "beyond perfect"... The sound of this recording is however horrible and unsynchronised. The CD version is way better. Jarrousky and has a very good recording of this same piece.

This performance is with the Austalian Brandeburg Orchestra directed from the keyboard by Paul Dyer at Angel Place in Sydney. Scholl is on record as saying they are his favourite ensemble to work with. They have released a coupole of Vivaldi CDs together.
zilaihuo, i attended his concert a few weeks ago and he doesn't need a microphone. The acoustics in the room are enough to carry the voice. He is simply stunning live - incredible that the human voice can accomplish such sound.

I heard this recently accompanying a Facebook post about animal extinction in the 20th century. I did not realize it was a Vivaldi composition. My admiration of him was reconfirmed after discovering he was the composer its timeless.

how can you measure the beauty of a soul with notes and vocal compasses ? Do you not hear the sensitivity, the interpretation, the emotionality, the angelism of his voice ? That, for me, is what Scholl is all about :-)
Sublime piece! I love Vivaldi's sacred music more than his secular works. Scholl's voice too is divine perfection . Amusing factoid: Guy Ritchie uses this piece in his film "Revolver" in connection with some Asian mobsters. Go figure!

totally marvellous;-) and I quite like him singing Bach, specially Agnus Dei the aria of Mass in B Minor, I know lots of singers(men,women and boys) tried this piece and in my opinion Andreas is one of the best!
