Big update:Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle’s bodies were first discovered by Ethan’s best friend who came over to the house that morning. He checked for Ethan’s pulse and yelled out for roommates to call 911. It is believed he also spoke to 911 dispatchers, but was not the only one. So to people out there who have judged Roomate DM, this is why you wait for the facts!!!

The tempo, pitch, and concern in your tone is so appropriate. You have maturity, class, and genuine care towards the victims, their loved ones, and to the viewers who are sensitive to this case. I enjoyed how focused you kept it beginning to end with insightful information. You are not a TH-camr that smokes, applies makeup, or seems distracted by anything else during the delivery of your videos. Thank you for that because my nervous system has kept me away from viewing anyone else relay this horrific situation. A situation that has pivoted the course of so many lives in a somber way. He chocked her and she fought him off, then went straight home and did nothing until her mum told her to go to the police. She said the trauma only came when she talked to her mum about it and hours later when she was home alone and realized what has actually happened.

Was she of afraid to summon the police for OTHER REASONS unbeknownst to the public? After all, it was widely known to be a party house to score "Molly" in. Hmmmmm.....🤔🤨 Just sayin'. Ya think this gave them pause? Why else would you wait 8 hours. Gripped with fear is one thing in the heat of the moment. But AFTERWARDS, why not at LEAST protect yourself from possible harm by alerting the authorities....JUST IN CASE!!!! Duhhhhh.....ya think? Are college kids REALLY this clueless? She could have easily been the 5th victim! If I saw and heard all that racket and didn't, have a gun in reach to defend myself, you better be DARN SURE I'm calling in the calvary IMMEDIATELY. Even if it takes them 30 minutes to get there....(the police station was actually very close to that complex). Because they would at least maybe catch him or see him. fleeing the area! Just the thought of her facing the pain of losing her only child rips me apart. No parent should ever have to face that pain, but it hits in a different way when it’s an only child. People who have never experienced a horrific traumatic experience rarely code an event as horrifically traumatic initially. The roommate may have just heard a scare then the guy leave and thought one of the roommates had a hookup that they kicked out. So because he maybe was rough with the girl, this roommate locked her door for good measure but didn’t code it as a quad hom I cide. The next day, there could have been shock and if they didn’t see how bloody it was on the third floor they may have again coded it as the couple just passed out and waited to call cops to not get anyone in trouble. I think this was an Occam’s razor situation. They used the simplest explanation for things like over drinking and bad hookups instead of quad mass acre with knife by a strange intruder. Many, besides true crime people, would do the same.

I also feel so bad for the roommates that weren’t attacked, I can’t imagine how much guilt and sadness they likely feel. Especially considering some people were trying to accuse them of being involved. And that’s not what they need at all. They need support too.

They must have been involved. There is no way watching or hearing 4 people getting killed then had the nerves to go back to your beauty sleep then wait 8 hours to call authorities when it’s convenient for you. That’s some real sick shit if you ask me. There’s no excuse.

I cannot express how beautiful it is that you focused on the most important thing, that being the lives and memories of Ethan, Xana, Madison, and Kaylee, and the dignity and support for their loved ones. True crime content so easily falls into a pit of sensationalism or a focus on the perpetrators or the violence, and I cannot thank you enough for imbuing this case with some grounded human compassion.

Thank you for waiting to cover this case until there was more information on it. Only at the beginning of this obviously but I know you’re going to cover this case with the respect that it and all true crime cases deserve. I was really hoping I’d never be watching you cover a new case in north Idaho, there’s already been so many tragedies in our area. (Please look into some other cases around here that I think deserve so much more coverage as well). I didn’t personally know any of them, but have a couple mutual friends & my heart just breaks for the victims themselves obviously who lost their lives way too soon for no good reason but also their friends and family who’s lives have been turned upside down by the sick & inhumane actions of that horrible person. Sending love to everyone who knew & loved them ❤️

When the police made the arrest, it took me 2 days to remember why he was so familiar. The families of the victims have shown SO much strength during a incomprehensibly tragic situation. I hope they can continue to find strength and be comforted in knowing how deeply their children loved and are loved.

The fact that the creep entered a home with 6 young healthy people inside with intent to murder is real eye opening that having people with you is false security. Just because you aren’t alone doesn’t mean you are safe and we need to consider that. We need dogs, guard dogs, guns, cameras, and alarms.

    • @amietiger8464

As a mama, and a retired soldier...you really should take Angels advice. Arm yourself! Then take a gun safety course....the world we live in is scary and horrific and anything can happen to you. In the meantime, think scenarios through, and leave weapons that are not so obvious-like a good HEAVY vase by the bed. Both of my sofas have a knife under them just in case. However, there is a good possibility I could still be murdered so a gun is the best choice for me. Be careful, and more than ANYTHING utilize your locks, be vigilant, stay alert and stay alive. LOL I know this all sounds ridiculous, but if you are getting murdered or raped it will suddenly all make sense. OH! Also, invest in a good alarm system WITH cameras. Good luck sweetie!
