My neighbor in our duplex lost her mother and 17 year old daughter in a car wreck down the road from our house. They got T-boned where the back road intersected the highway. My neighbor TOLD her daughter to go that way just that morning, bc it was safer than the other way you could get to the highway. And it should have been, there was a traffic light. But the guy that hit them was drunk and ran the light. I’ll never forget hearing my neighbor and her husband through the walls. Wailing doesn’t even begin to describe the sound… the guilt they must have felt… I was a new mother and it hit me hard. They spent all the money they would have spent on Christmas that year on my son. ❤rest in peace Kaitlin and Robin❤

They are both entered into Ncic as missing people but runaway is noted. Without a doubt they focus more on an endanagered person versus a teen who runs all the time but both should still be entered in Ncic so that if they are found anywhere in the country it is known that they were reported missing. We definitely had our regular runaways when I worked for the department but they still need to be entered whether being a suspected runaway or not for this very reason.

Especially when people were around. But not enough cameras. Most likely an abduction or human tra ffic king. Someone could have been watching her regularly on her own on the bus or followed her off the bus, then grabbed her, could have threatened her with a weapon & taken her to a vehicle, without her struggling. This could be why, she's was so difficult to trace.
There's more cameras around now, but not in rural places.
If it was international tra ffic king, that would be the most difficult situation, to find her.
Hope is all we have, so I can understand, why they wouldn't give up, on the possibility of Ali still being alive somewhere.
Who lost the camera footage of Ali, on the gas station camera, was it the police? Seems sketchy if it was, how convenient, that it went missing. Did one of them, pick her up, I wonder? 🤔

Sadly I feel they didn't ignore the family but blatantly avoided them as much as possible, blatantly stalled filing Ali as a missing person in proper timeframe, blatantly and nonchalantly dismissed the family's concern and belief that she wasn't a runaway. They carelessly got rid of any evidence, procrastinated on any evidence handed into them and made it quite obvious they weren't going to bite the hand that feeds them, taking months to get SW'rnts that weren't even required for MsngPrsns cases, esp Endangered types. The only time they gave the pretense of 'helping' was just as a smoke screen so the media could sell their superficial shovel load to the masses and quash any leads that got too close to the truth they knew so well. How ridiculous saying trafficked kids are known for stealing and their prints are in the system...but no-one bothers helping them return to their families or to catch and lock away these sickos.
Runaway teenagers didn't you say? Pockets and Pensions are definately full and enforced with silent gleefull vigour.

a very valid conclusion, however we have to remember that police stations will intentionally hire the absolute dumbest mf’ers they can find because they are better at maintaining status quo, less likely to ever question orders, and are more prone to violence and escalation. of course “nOt AlL cOpS” but enough that this is a nationwide epidemic. though if it comes out that a retired officer or even one on duty harmed this child and the rest of the precinct was covering up for them i would 100000% not be surprised. just disgusting all around.

I don’t think wanting to run away is common or normal. I never wanted to run away. I highly doubt any of my friends did either.
I think that’s more common in households where parents are pretty controlling, somewhat abusive, or neglectful.
When my mom grounded me. I knew I deserved it. I didn’t want to run away. I just studied more and got my grades up. She punished me the appropriate amount. Nothing excessive.
Still doesn’t sound like she ran away in this case. But I don’t think it’s common for kids to want to run away.

Being a dispatcher for a smaller department, I will say that this is not the same response we give just for the simple fact we don't have all those resources. I can say in Texas, a runaway has to be entered into TCIC/NCIC within 2 hours of a report being taken. Any officers available, which is only about 3-4 usually here, will start canvassing the area or last known locations. On a busy shift this sometimes just isn't possible though. Our officers will at least e-mail the entry sheet to us in dispatch if they're so busy they can't get back to the PD so at least we can get them entered and we also send a regional message to local agencies to be aware of.
