    Used Rolex can be a good bargain in Japan. And since Japanese usually treat their watches quite careful, the used condition of a watch in Japan generally is much better than elsewhere.
    A very good deal is definitely a Grand Seiko. Their price in Japan is lower than in Europe, for example. But it always depend on your exchange rate!

    The Yacht-Master platinum dial, for those who care @1:10: the one on the right is the 116622, the latest iteration produced between 2012 and 2016 (blue Parachrom, Oyster clasp, easy link, blue chromalight, solid links in the entire bracelet not just end links, guaranteed superlative chronometer +2/-2 s/d), the one on the left is the 16622 made between 1998 and 2011 with less bells and whistles (although with a shinier dial). Good night to those who fell asleep.

    Thanks Austin for the videos you post which includes a mini tour of the present city you're in. I agree, it gets lonely travelling through the city seeing people/strangers going about their business. Its best to travel with friends, which I did last October to visit Fukuoka. BTW, I watched one of your watch videos which featured Fukuoka months before I made my trip. Thanks again.

    It helps to know how to read Japanese, its because the label on the watch tell you whether the watch is new, unworn, or used. And what years was the watch first sold. And whether it has box or paper. I have been to pretty much all watch stores in the Osaka and Tokyo regions. But if you are looking for strictly new Rolex, Don Quijote seems to have the best price. But still have to shop around because each branch have different prices. Avoid super popular tourist area such as shinjuku, namba, shinsaibashi. Try to go to relatively less tourist area such as Umeda in Osaka, and Nakano in Tokyo

    • @watchsymposium
      @watchsymposium  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good advice here. That one particular piece led me to Shinjuku. Typically, I like Nakano.

    The price difference in the Yatchmaster's is becuase the one for 800,000 yen is a 16622, and the 1.1 mil is a 116622....(i.e. the updated version). Lume colour of the new version is different, and the band and clasp are considerably updated...

      It is a sucky situation, but I can't think how they can get out of it. If they keep as is, the bloodsuckers on the grey market will keep at it. I don't think they're keen on seeing this kind of profiteering on the product. BUT if they meet demand, and stamp out the grey market, they risk devaluing the piece, or even the brand as a whole.
