Home Made Motor Roller Rebuild

  • Follow along with my major rebuild of this home made cricket pitch roller.
Originally built in around 1960, this machine has seen better days.
The cricket club wanted to use it again and asked if I could replace the engine.
A quick look at it soon convinced me it needed much more than a new engine!
We found a scrap Ransomes mower to salvage the parts from and set about fitting the complete engine and transmission into the roller.
If you enjoy the video don't forget to give us a like.
    Thanks for watching.

I think you haven't fallen far from the tree and the creative problem solving gene is alive and well! Very enjoyable vid.

Great job and brilliant to see a home built bit of machinery like this being restored and hopefully put back into use 🛠️👍🏼

I hope the cricket club will build a shed to put her in after all your hard work restoring it.

Very interesting viewing to see all the work and planning that has gone into this project.
You've got a good mechanical brain for figuring out how to go about things and a super well equipped workshop to do almost every job you need to do. Looking forward to seeing the next part of this project.

Thanks for your support. I'm working on part two but it might take some weeks. I run multiple projects at the same time to give plenty of time for parts to arrive etc.

Thanks. My workshop videos don't get good view numbers. Most of my subscribers like the working tractors. It's good to know someone like them.

Instant reverse will be quite useful on the wicket. I would think the old crash box was at the other end of the spectrum! 🤣

Your old man must have been a dab hand with a welder. Great that you’re modifying something he did as well. I’m kinda sad you’ve cut the ransomes up, I’ve a soft spot for them😆🤦‍♂

Don't worry about the Ransomes. It was well past it. The cylinders were worn out and the mounting arms were bent. If you want any bits let me know!

@@Casterton-Vintage think I’ve driven worse 🤣. Thank you for the offer but I’ll pass, I’ve enough projects (more like scrap) already thanks😊
