Great game, very enjoyable. One small rule mistake, HE doesn't get the -1 for long range as it doesn't rely on kinetic energy (pg 139). Dont think it would have changed anything with the Stuart, but thought it would be good to bring up 👍
You're lucky. Most of my forces didn't shed many points. On average I saved with officers and lmgs, but all my vehicles stayed the same cost. For my FJ fausts went through the roof.
Can't wait for the official 3rd edition rules for Italy armies... a mate and I are going to start playing once the 3rd is out, but I only have a Bersaglieri army with some Alpini on the side...
The new Italian Army book will not be released till 2026/7,the PDF will be released on Thursday which will cover new points values and National Rules .

I never (unless I had to) put anything into reserves. I make a simple assumption: if I leave something in reserve, it won't shoot, if it doesn't shoot, it won't kill
Love the banter between you guys. Great game learnt alot for the video... well put together thank you. Quick question can you move and shot a Medium Mortar and MMG
Gees, we played a 3rd ed game about 3 weeks ago, 1K lists, Germans vs my mate's French, I had 20 OD, he had 29 OD and 4 platoons each. We did cheese it up a bit though, but still the game rolled on fairly smoothly, no tanks bigger than light tanks though
Great battle report and love the minis! Forgive my ignorance if I missed something but I thought you needed a rifle platoon for each heavy weapon/armour/Recce platoon?
With regards to light AT, it's still trash! Though the British player seemed to get very lucky! We've played a lot of large games in V2 (2000 pts) set in desert where all AT was pretty much light (including Panzer IIIs with short L/42 50mm gun). You'd have up to 10 tanks/AFVs (Matildas, Crusaders, Stuarts, Valentines, Daimlers, M14/41s, Panzer III L/42s, Panzer IVD/E) plus numerous light ATG (2 pounders, 25 pounders, 47/32 Elefantinos). Occasionally there'd be a M3 Grant, Semovente 75/18, Bofors 40mm SPAAG or pair of Pak-38s present. Sure there was a lot of pins. But next to nothing died! It was a lot of fun despite being a case of pillow fists.
Loving seeing the 3rd edition reports. Also very excited to see the British 25pdr in play and having a good time. I appreciate that there wasn't any particularly heavy armour in this game, but would an artillery section of 2 or even 3 25pdrs seem viable this edition, now that a minimum of 2 artillery are required to field any? It seems like a fun idea and gives versatility between anti tank and indirect HE. Or would heavier anti tank be more advisable? (The gambit also being having targets worth shooting at).
With regards to strong builds from a competitive perspective, it's a hard call. Note I always play historical so my lists tend to reflect actual available choices. I think basic infantry are still a core choice. They have great resilience and dish out a fair bit of firepower. The tanks are meh, they fighter other tanks for most part but are still too expensive to be fielded (Warlord's vehicle costing system is still trash). Exceptions would be cheap dakka tanks or antiaircraft meat choppers as per V2 but also some of the HE equipped vehicles that now ignore cover (Eg Su-76M, Su-122 or StuH42 and perennial favourite - the 105mm Sherman or at higher points a Su-152 or StuIG 33B). MMGs are still crap - they're fixed and lack manoeuvrability and are still very vulnerable. Heavy weapons platoons are probably still best taken with a couple of mortars and that's it. ATGs are still poor choices - fixed and vulnerable. I used them plenty in V2 and they didn't really improve - 3-4 crew is still easy to dispose of. Snipers are still useful too.
Whole list is out of time. No Wespes used in that period (only from 1943). No 6 rads used in desert (should be 8 Rads or Sd Kfz 221/222) No Panzer IIIEs used in desert (they should be Panzer IIIG/H/J for late 1941- early 42). Obviously neither forces fit Tunisia or Italy. Brits definitely have a late 1941-early 42 theme.
The rulebook says a typical game is 1000pts, but my understanding is that the game is balanced around 1250. Is the 1000 pts in the book a typo as far as you can tell?
Get a Germans. They got best rules and a lot good starters. Very flexible and you can made good elite army without breaking a bank. Japanese rules are shit and you don't get any good vehicles to counter heavy tanks.
Heya! Welcome! Overall, the cost dont really differ between armies. Its also a lot cheaper then WH (which i presume u come from) What sort of budget are we talking?
If you take everything as veteran then any army can be very cheap (and it's a really good way to play anyway) so pick the one you like most. If you take Japanese you will have something different to the legions of people who take Germans but will be waiting a bit longer for your army book.

No Wespes in service at Africa - they were first used in Kursk in July 1943 (Tunisia fell May). No Panzer IIIEs sent to Africa (only G/H/J/L/M/N). By 1943 you'd only find early model IIIs in training units. Most had been destroyed or rebuilt into late Panzer III marks or converted to StuGs. No 6 rad armoured cars were sent to Africa either, only 8 rads and 221/222. British - really a late 1941-early-mid 1942 force Matilda's were withdrawn from active duty after 1st El Alamein and replaced by Valentines. 25 Matildas did see service in 2nd El Alamein and later but these were converted to Scorpion mine flail tanks.

I think one of those British tanks was disabled early on, then you pushed it forward and shot some stuff. RIP armoured car.

Desert Rats vs Afrika Korps is my favorite theater. I am building a force of each as well. Great figures too.

One rifle platoon will allow you to take up to one of each of the other platoons.
Two rifle platoons is two of each, three is three and so on.

Great game. What laser line are you using? Looks easier than using a laser pointer.
Also, is that Sand Golem on those tanks, Sir? I do the same on my Desert Italian tanks!
I use Zandri Dust and then wash it in Seraphim Sepia!
It looks just the same, it is uncanny! Still a great color.

Dont vehicles only get a cover save for hard cover?
Granted I skipped ahead a bit, how’d you clear the immobilization on you one tank?
Is that a new rule?
Nope I am just an idiot who forgot xD
Are the Matildas no longer slow and is the Stuart now classed as a fast tank?
I think we missed the Matilda slow rule! My bad!

The Germans have more starter options, so are probably better as Axis starter army. For Allies I recommend the US as a starter faction
