Only way to describe that one is “utter carnage”… which made it great entertainment! As ever from you gents at MoM, stunning models and table and a very well thought out scenario. Keep up the stellar work… and thanks for sharing!
Lol! Yes… Rick and his awesome lists! I did see his tanks turn up and gulped… put on my big boy pants and settled on just surviving!!! Glad you liked it!
34:10 i dont think the loader should have a panzer faust because of this rule on page 104 When the team weapon is fired, the loader cannot fire his own personal weapon - he is too busy crewing the team weapon. If the loader is killed or is not within an inch of the firer, the weapon suffers a -1 ‘to hit’ penalty as described above so he can fire it but then the lmg cant fire the lmg as it would force him to load the lmg,
I see what your saying… I would have to look it up, Rick does say that he takes the -1 for no loader… but he actually can’t use the loader in this way. Cheeky Rick bending the rules! 😊😂
You are right. But the wording is stupid. It says you suffer a -1 to hit if the loader is more than an inch away from the lmg firer. Plus it says the loader is too busy loading the lmg to fire his own weapon. But if he is say 2 inches away from the firer he is not loading so why can't he fire.
Just starting out my Bolt action journey and I feel I'm already picking up a few nice tricks from your video. And again nice minis and excellent table.
Great table, love the distressed buildings I realise so much comes down to dice rolls but I found the combat "messy" and somewhat unrealistic, I was beginning to wonder if the advanced American half track was made of titanium ! Ended up praying that some German armour would just ram the bloody thing !😁 Can't pretend to be familiar with the rule set BUT ! if a mortar shell misses it's target, where does it land and what effect does it have ? Thanks for the entertainment fella's , will be dialled in for your next game
Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it. The scenario makes the combat different because it’s now all about capturing the pilot and not so much the direct fight… so that kinda makes the combat messy, a straight up fight or different scenario would alter that. I do agree about the mortar shell, the game dynamics don’t allow for it to go elsewhere, if you miss you miss… but I do like the idea of a scatter dice moving the shell location 💥 Thanks again 👍🏻
@@theministryofminiatures It's all good mate You guys know what you're doing. Maybe you could stick in an amendment to the rule set showing where a missed mortar shell landed ? It could have massive repercussions 😅
Officer in buildings (pg155): Officer morale and snap to action can only be used on units in the same building or within 6" (or 12") of an opening officer would be able to shout out of.
That is correct, the only officer in the building was mine who was within 6inches of the two mortars from the window, but not the MMG which is why they fired separately. Thanks

Cool battle report! Just a note to the German player, which might be redundant when the German book is released. But because of how the armoured platoon’s command vehicle rule is worded, combined with the fact that multiple units are current condensed into one entry. Since he took a “light armoured car” and “heavy armoured car” in his armoured platoon and both unit entries have options to upgrade to a command vehicle, he unfortunately needs to upgrade one them to command vehicle, before using the +10pts option on the tank.
Thank you for the comment, we did discuss this but agreed that he could move the command vehicle to the tank. I put a post up in the video to highlight that, but the rules as written it should’ve been one of the armoured cars. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks again for the feedback 👍🏻
@andywoodhead9891 yes they do… the Panzer 3 has 3 MMG’s so even with 3rd edition it fire 12 dice (Germans still get +1) Not aware of us rolling too many dice for the vehicles, we are both fully aware of the changes… but if there was a time let me know
Yes! Mark has played a couple of times with us, which club / where do you play? I would need to check with the Boss, but I am sure we can sort something out 👍🏻
Great game enjoyed it personally if you had a skater dice for the pilot so if he's dice came out to see witch ways he goes that could be interesting 👍👍👍🤠🤠🇺🇸🇺🇸
Lol, could you imagine it with him randomly running around… instead of catch the pigeon, it would be catch the pilot! Glad you liked the game, lucky rolls from before the game helped the USA out immensely, right from the scenario through to combat! Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
Indeed it did, a different scenario could’ve swung the game in favour of the German armour, but I was lucky took full advantage of both the scenario (which was random) and my army special move. Hope it didn’t ruin it for you? Thanks
@rickfryer2934 I did think when you pushed forward that you might swing it, but alas it wasn’t meant to be. I enjoyed the game and taking on the armour… looking forward to our next battle 👍🏻
Great game. Top Secret does not work with Rangers. My first game was Top secret and I was off the board by turn three. One thing, the shooting of the of Pz III. Shouldn't it gotten a soft cover save, since you fired through Rick's troops and Superficial damage should have been steering comprised. Also, I think Rick should look into Tank shock. Rolling those 3 Panzers through your lines could have really stirred things up.
I agree, we both took armies not knowing the scenario… it could’ve easily been very favourable for tanks! With the cover save for the tank, more than half the tank needs to be covered in order for it to get the cover, the infantry didn’t cover more than half so no cover. Thanks 👍🏻
I agree with Justin, I don't think the three infantry were enough cover for the tank. As for the superficial damage result it's unfortunate we got that wrong, but I don't think it made any real difference to the outcome. I did consider just running all my vehicles forward, but in the end I chickened out, two bazookas at point blank worried me more than it should. My bad!
@@rickfryer2934 The only hope would be that Justin's troops scattered to block the bazookas shots. I doubt they would of have failed a morale check and fled with the company commander sitting there.
Hi, although I said 6 shots, we realised off camera and I rolled the 3 dice and killed the 3 troops at point blank, as the HMG has +1 to wound it made it much easier to wound. The next time I fired the half track I mentioned that the vehicle HMG actually has 3 shots to clarify on camera. Hope this helps 👍🏻
I have many of the same buildings. For the love of god is it so hard to put windows on all 4 sides? It was very rare to have blank sides, even in Europe, plus it’s a GAME.

Take care and good luck finding a Bolt Action opponent 👍🏻🤞🏻
Just once I'd like to see a BA German player bring actual mainstay battle tanks like Panzer IVs or Panthers instead of playing the gamey spam light vehicles game.
This battle was set up for Rick to try his auto-cannon spam, the previous battle with him ‘op switchback’ was historically based, so the army choices were not over the top… we do try to alternate between those types of battles to keep everyone happy. Hopefully you still enjoyed the game? Our next battle is another historical one 👍🏻
I have taken a Panzer IV in one of my previous games. I have also used a Brumbar and a Hummel. This game was deliberately cheese based. Next game I have a juicy 88.
@rickfryer2934 and they were very nice too… I think I have taken my Panther, it was the frozen river crossing with Mark for Battle of the Bulge… but it might be time to take it again, although I don’t play Germans very often 👍🏻
@@theministryofminiatures My apologies. I have not seen those. But all of BA V3 is seeming to orientate to light vehicle spam. Warlord never fixed dakka tank problem because the issue was points, not effectiveness. Their vehicle points system is still garbage as it is based on assumption of predominance of anti-tank warfare instead of anti-infantry/artillery (ie squishy things you can kill with MGs). So mediums stayed same price but got worse. And they were overcosted in the first place. Probably my biggest disappointment of V3.
@@deniskosta1080I understand what you mean - we agreed that we would either play historical type battle of one with more cheese…. Just to ensure the armies are balanced and fair. @rickfryer2934 I see your logic, but I guess you have to try to keep your loader near to your LMG.
Just means 1 less rifle man in the squad.
Great game agree on company commanders - a must on any list - also speeds up play - 4 dice straight away.
