That was a good fishing session, plenty of fish. As an Aussie not used to UK fish I think those mackerel with green and black markings are awesome looking fish.
Thanks mate. Yeah some of the mackerel are lovely colours. Some can be green and black and some can have a vibrant blue colour to them, very tasty too!
Interesting to see different perspectives species-wise. In Bulgaria, on the Black sea, garfish is quite sought after. A method we use to catch them is to use the same 20g lure you used, but instead of having the treble hook right behind it, extend it on a piece of cord 10-12 cm. That way when the garfish strikes the bait, the hook wraps around its body evry time and hooks it. There used to be mackerel but it's extinct from our waters. The main we aim for is horse mackerel, blue fish, and mullet. Not that we have many other species to choose from, the sea is relatively poor in species variety. In any case, very entertainig video.
Great vid as ever Cal. I meant to thank you before for giving me the heads up where to fish in Guernsey. Took my son fishing for the first time and he hooked a 3lb Bass first cast! We also had Mackerel, Bream, Garfish and a Strap Conger. Guernsey is awesome!!!!
Ah that's awesome mate! That's a lovely bass for his first one, well done. Guernsey is always good for fishing in the summer months, there's always a lot of different things you can target. I'm glad you had a good time.
Well I like ya chanel I hope to see more.. a really good tip when I'm making chum I make it with bread and a tin of chappie dog food.. it works every time 😮
@FISHINGWITHCAL I forgot to mention! I make a lot of lures clear and white silicone and glitter . I also make them out of vapes with a treble on the back .. definitely a good hack 👌
Just watching your fantastic videos . I’m in Ireland ,west coast . Just saw you loose your beautiful lure from the rocks . Have you tried putting on a plastic bottle with half water in it for weight looped with twine . When you lift the rod the tide pulls in the opposite direction , it worked in the rivers . I fished river n lakes .
Yes mate that’s a great tip. Sometimes I’ll do that but on this occasion I came to terms with losing the lure. Off a shallow beach this method works well for retrieving lures. Thanks for the comment mate 👍🏼
@@richardandrews4076 Wrasse are like Bass, they'll literally eat anything 😂 Yeah I've had a wrasse take a swipe at a surface lure too in very shallow water.
Lovely place lovely fish and a good fish meal tonight clive
The classic “I can let this one sink a bit deeper” followed by the “bollocks I’ve snagged” feeling! Glad I’m not the only one
😂 Yep! You always chance it by a few more feet don’t you.
Love your video. Peace and love everyone 💕 Peace and love. 🇹🇹🚣♂️🇯🇴 Rick
Magic, great session, thanks for sharing.................

Great catch great spot buddys... 👍 Awesome
I Love IT
Lure fishing from the rocks in the Shore
Especially with small Metal lures
Tight lines
You can’t beat it can you! 🎣
@@FISHINGWITHCAL yes you can't Beat IT or maybe topwater lures?
Enjoyed watching Cal , and good catching . Tight lines in the future and look forward to more videos 👍
Nice one thanks a lot mate 👍🏼👍🏼
I learned so much from your videos. Just had my first one on surface lure. And I'm hooked for life. Cheers mate
That’s great to hear mate! Top water fishing for bass is the most exciting way to fish for them for sure. Well done on the first one! 👍🏼
When i fly back home to Plymouth i am going to have to try out fishing in Guernsey, awesome catch fella.
Brillant video

Blue/slimy mackerel are very similar.
@@mbnz0174 thanks, I will have a look 👍

Nice to hear you dispatch them quickly treating them with respect. Funny a double hook up I thought that exactly when I saw that jig 😅
Great vid so pleased you caught 2 on one lure for the camera one of them moments that happen very rare thanks for content
Yes you can’t complain with a double shot of mackerel! Thanks a lot 👍🏼
It happens with me last time 2 double big scad and it feels amazing 👏 anw what jig you were using
What kind of rod and reel would be good to start out with for mackerel fishing from a pier?
I love those Major craft lures
Yeah I'm a big fan of the metals they make. I can’t say I've used too many of their other lures though.
Nice fishing m8,
Great content as usual keep up the good work 😉
Thanks very much mate! 👍🏼
Great video Cal, new subscriber here...fish on bro.. love it...
Thanks a lot mate. Thanks for the sub too 🤙🏼🎣

Great video i love fishing for gar brilliant winter bait had some nice size Whiting and bass on it.
That's right mate, I'll be keeping any I catch over the next few weeks for some winter bait sessions.
@@FISHINGWITHCAL I've been out all day today on float and spinning and caught nothing.
Wow superb technique and you have sophisticated art,,i know is not easy but your efforts excellent ❤❤best wishes ❤❤I support you 💯❤392
Fantastic video ❤
I’m glad you enjoyed it! 🎣
Nice one mate :) subscribed Any heads up for fishing Bass or Bream from london or within london next week ?
Great video Cal, looks like you are using the Penn Conflict, lovely rod for the money 🎣
It is mate yeah. I've had that rod for a couple of years now and really like it. To say it costs under 100 pound it's brilliant.

Thanks a lot! 🎣
Great content as usual cal,but you need climbing lessons of Nathan at slippy limpets,he only says it's sketchy when he climbs in force 10 gales 😂😂
Haha! Yeah that's a lot sketchier than what I was doing. It's the rain on those rocks, once they're wet they're like black ice.
Great video you worked hard for those fish , I always use squid instead of bread on the hook much more durable and the mullet don't seem to mind
Thanks mate. That's interesting that you use squid for mullet. I've heard that a small sliver of mackerel works well also.
That was a great video Cal, full of action. Nice variety of fish, makes it interesting. Annoying when you lose a new lure isn’t it?
Thanks Yvonne. Yeah it's a pain to lose lures but it happens sometimes. I'll be ordering a couple more of those metals though 👍🏼
great vid buddy
Thank you mate 👍🏼
Cracking vid 👌
🤙🏼👍🏼🎣
Cool
👍🏼🎣
i know of 2 good spots for mullet amereas bay about half tide and saints harbour slip way not sure on tide but always see them while spear fishing
There are tons of good mullet spots on every coast of the island. The Lace is always alright because literally anything can show up as a bonus.
Did you get the wrasse on bread too ?
Yes mate, I didn’t use the bluey in the end. Chucked them to the birds before I left.
@@FISHINGWITHCAL that’s mad ! Had one slash at a Patch this week
@@richardandrews4076 Wrasse are like Bass, they'll literally eat anything 😂 Yeah I've had a wrasse take a swipe at a surface lure too in very shallow water.
@@FISHINGWITHCAL loads is bass around in this surf
Why keep Garfish?
Do you eat the wrasse?
You can, but I don’t often no.
Hi Cal, Where is this place please?
This is in Guernsey in the Channel Islands
Imagine how much free gear you'd get if you went scuba diving near rock marks.
Great sesh!! I'd get a snorkel and mask on and retrieve that Major Craft jig.. 🤣 That's lure fishing eh? 🥲
I was pretty gutted about losing that lure to be honest. First time using that kind and I really liked it. Will have to order some more!
Where dude?
Guernsey in the Channel Islands
Nice video but please, dont take such small groupers with you. Better leave them back on sea and in one year they ll be x10 size
Why do you not touch the fish bare hand
Which fish? The garfish? Because the scales get everywhere!
