Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.

Just a thought ref your mate using mackerel, his low catch rate may be due to how he presented the bait, I usually use mackerel belly in thin strips to imitate a sand eel . More vids like this please. Tight lines. Steve.
It looked like he was sticking big chunks on the hook so I'll pass your info on to him. Although, I don't think he'll be using mackerel again 😉 Tight lines 👍 🎣
A little tip when using this float set up.Have a swivel below the foat then set your weight a longer distance from your float than what your hook length is.This will stop your hook length tangling above your float when casting.

Check out The Fish Lockers channel, he uses them a load more than me and has plenty of videos on how to use them. Hope this helps and sorry for the delay in coming back to you.
Shrimp and prawn are deadly bait on a float I used to catch sea trout and I mean a lot of sea trout on a fine line and relatively small hooks basically a course fishing setup. The sea trout used to come in on the tide to the mouth of the estuary and it was game on...fresh shrimp is best...then prawn...
I've not had many sea trout but see them all the time during summer, lures seem not to work so will give this a try. Thanks for the info and tight lines 👍
@@SlippyLimpets Go as light as you dare and maybe use an inline bubble float with a 1/0 Aberdeen hook or smaller you don't need big baits but you do need to mask the hook they are easily put off and hard to keep on the hook and if you have a fast drift a couple of split-shots to take down the shrimp usually 6 feet of fluorocarbon (1.83 m) from the float is plenty. Tight Lines! You might need to use nylon with the split shot it's a bit more forgiving...

Fish the top half of one of them blochan under your feet mate or livebait a smaller one or even better a joey if you can get it. @@deet1558 No worries. Hard one to answer, it really depends on the mark. Alot of the places I fish tend to fish well on the ebb tide, but best thing to do is try the mark at various stages of the tide. That way you can get an idea of works for that particular mark. Hope this helps
Just as a tip, the plastic packets that Prawns 🦐 come in, can be taken to any Tesco or Sainsburys etc and they will put it in their plastic film recycling, which councils won’t take. As anglers, we should all be going out of our way to protect the sea that gives us so much pleasure. They’ll take all plastic bags and film, like the tops off readymeals, which normally end up in the sea or in the countryside. I have a carrier bag on the back of my door, which I fill up each week and then take it back to the greedy shortsighted people that manufactured and profited by it.
Great point! I. I fish alot of these more remote marks to get away from the rubbish that some anglers leave behind so thanks for the tip. I'll heart your comment so it stays at the top of the comment list and hopefully help other people.

They're a great bait all year round for most- cod, pollack, coal fish, wrasse...They pretty deadly for live baiting under a float for bass. Check out The Fish Lockers channel, he uses them a load more than me and has plenty of videos on how to use them. Hope this helps and sorry for the delay in coming back to you.
@@SlippyLimpets thanks bud
Good knowledge and thanks for sharing it! Will definitely be giving this a go.
Good video mate, really enjoying your content 👍🏻
Glad you like it and thanks for taking the time to comment 👍
i miss the rock fishing had some great days in anglsey
I've never fished angelsey, normally drive past and head to the llyn. I'll make it there one day.
@@SlippyLimpets I have just done the Lyn and Anglesey, got to say Anglesey was a lot better for me. Got to some good marks well out of the way of anyone. Some I couldn’t get to but a mountain goat like you could. I tried st Abbs but couldn’t find a way down, not without a rope 😀. You recommended portpatrick to me a few months ago, just been there and had a great time. Loved it up there.
Great video. One quick question, what hook size did you use. I'm concerned as to whether or not the 1/0 hooks I use are too big.
I started off using a using a size 2 hook but moved up to a size 1 because the fish were taking the smaller hook quite deep. Depends on the fish in your area but think a 1/0 would be OK. Hope this helps and thanks for your comment.
@@SlippyLimpets thank you even more for your response.
Enjoyed that, you reckon float fishing is a goer in winter too?
This at the cave behind Eyemouth golf course aye?
Hi , love the content, where are you fishing, and how difficult is too reach, im in middlesbrough and i know your in northumberland.
It's just north of Berwick in South West Scotland, loads of different approaches but this one is pretty sketchy. Have a look online for a mark called the cannons, it's a good shot there. Hope this helps 👍
You and Phil should do a mystery tackle challenge where yous have to buy the worst possible lures for each other
Good idea! He might be able to get one up on me then.
@@SlippyLimpets you buy his lures and he buys your lures
I ain't float fished for years am defo gonna give it a go again looked like at least one of you had a really fun day 😎. Keep them coming stay safe & tight lines 🎣👍
It was great fun! I wonder what you'll use for bait 😉 Cheers again Kris, Tight Lines!
Great video mate 👍🏼
Hey mate what is your Rod please looking amazing?
It's a Slash Lamya Thief, 8'6'' ML. Great rod and love the action, although it is prone to tip wrapping
Are you able to park up at St abbs head now mate or is it still blocked off? Been dying to get up but don't know where else to park
The top carpark is still closed but the Scottish Trust carpark is open now. Just means there is a bit of a walk to get to marks.
@@SlippyLimpets cheers for that mate
Hi mate quality video .. where abouts is this mark ?
Not going to give the exact mark but it's in south east Scotland mate. Glad you like the vid 👍
Prawn always wins mate! Prawn curry is way better than any mackerel hahahahaha..
Brilliant entertainment 😎👍🏼🎣
Thanks again dude, never tried mackerel in a curry and not sure I will now! 😂 Tight lines mate
Canny video buddy, used to go to shields quay and get some whole frozen prawn and fish next to yellow can of Whitley. Loads of fish, esp Cod. Tight lines, Charlie 🎣🎣
That's off Whitley 🤣🤣
Love fishing around the can on my kayak, there's always a cod or or two lurking about. Good pollack closer into shore as well. Tight lines!
Raw king/Tiger prawns are a fantastic bait and will catch almost any fish.
Smoothounds love them as much as peeler crab.
They are, even cod are partial to a prawn
I bet prawns would be killer bait abroad aswell I float fish when we go to lanzarote but never thought of using prawns its a natural bait comes from the sea it makes sense i useally use bread
Don't see why they wouldn't work for you abroad, they are pretty much everywhere and a bit more natural than bread. Let me know how you get on. Tight lines!
@@SlippyLimpets yer will do im gonna try them here on the south coast iv got myself a fishing kayak so gonna try that
Nice. Love that cove your in.👍
It's a great cove to fish in. 👍 🎣
Great watch as usual mate 👍👍 keep it going
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it 👍
@@SlippyLimpets always do buddy, caught my first double figure pollock last Thursday evening on a savage gear line through sand eel ,,lure fishing was a style I never really got into until I started watching your videos,, cheers bud 👍
Congratulations mate!! A shore caught double figure pollack is something I've not managed yet. Well jealous!! 👍 🎣
@@SlippyLimpets was casting not far from salmon cages off the Antrim coast had 5 Pollock up to about 5lb before I hooked into what I thought was a seal lol came in at 10 lb 7oz on scales the guy fishing down from me had ,, cant wait to get out again 👌
I bet that pulled like a train!! Bet there are some bigger ones there too. 👍
Hi slippy love all your videos especially st abbs just been at the weekend with my son looked at the shot you do over the two peaks no thanks ha ha got 14 in total codling and coalies no pollock or mackerel just wondering if you can help I done the shot at eyemouth just off the golf course at the cave but it was about 15 years ago could you give me an idea of the best place to park so I can get close as possible cause I cant for the life of me remember how I got there thanks and keep the good work up
Cracking video and the better team won on the day lol
Yep, those prawns are a coalie magnet!!
Where do you reckon you had that prawn bobbing about under water depth wise
I kept changing the depth but bites dried up if it was less than 8ft
@@SlippyLimpets thanks, good to know
No worries, hope it helps out
im off fishing tomorrow but bream fishing,
Good luck!
bin the elastic band use a stop not and hair rig the prawn :)
Cheers for the info!
Did you get the prawns from coop?
I did and as a bonus they come in resealable bag
Great bit of craic on a lovely day....
There's nowt better. Thanks for your comment, appreciate it.👍
I’ll have to give prawns a go, easy to get hold of.
That's one of real beauties of using prawns, quick trip to the supermarket sorts your bait out. Cheap too
great vid, all that fun for a £1.00. and a great location too,
Glad you enjoyed it. Turns out prawns are great value as long as you can find them on sale!
Suprise realy!but prawns in various forms can be a killer👍
Seems that way. I'll be using them more often and cheaper than most shop baits too🎣👍
Were you using Cooked frozen prawns ?
Yes mate.
My experience the same! I fished two rods, one with mackerel one with prawn 5 fish all different species. 4 prawn 1 mackerel..😆
Totally underrated bait, and easily available
always catching! bet youve had Corona aswell :) great vid
haha thanks fully i'm not that lucky! Thanks again Gary.
Fish the top half of one of them blochan under your feet mate or livebait a smaller one or even better a joey if you can get it. Not tried it meself but have a mate that is pretty much dedicated to that type of fishing and by gum he catches some ridiculous blochan. It's a size and not a numbers game so not sure I have the patience for it but have to try at least once. Surprised you'd no ballan on the prawn.
When is the best time to shore fish?
You can fish all year round but most productive time is from spring through to late autumn.
Sorry mate I mean high tide flowing tide or low tide
@@deet1558 No worries. Hard one to answer, it really depends on the mark. Alot of the places I fish tend to fish well on the ebb tide, but best thing to do is try the mark at various stages of the tide. That way you can get an idea of works for that particular mark. Hope this helps
Sound man
Just as a tip, the plastic packets that Prawns 🦐 come in, can be taken to any Tesco or Sainsburys etc and they will put it in their plastic film recycling, which councils won’t take.
You do know they just chuck them in the bin!
were's the venue mate ??
South East Scotland
Great video again love float fishing can't believe the prawns that's mad as hell!! I use gar fish it's cheaper 😂👌🎣😎
Thanks again David, glad you liked it. 👍 🎣
I prefer a Float with the hook on the bottom. I think Float fishing is ideal when you want the bait off the bottom
Do you mean a hook attached to a float? I found that bites dried up if came any shallower than 8ft.
Next you’ll need to try float fishing vs lure at the same time. See if we all really should just give up with those lures. Would save me some cash.
Think I know which technique will win but I know which one I still enjoy more. I put the float away, got the lures out and immediately caught a 4lb pollack and codling on the lrf rod.
Slippy Limpets You making a seperate vid for that? Saw a pic of a wrasse caught from North Berwick recently... ON A METAL
Where are you fishing?
South east Scotland
That made a nice change mate
Thanks mate, appreciate it. 👍
Where the prawns cooked or raw?
Cooked prawns mate
And what did I tell you about prawns. Hahaha. They are dynamite mate. Wrasse will absolutely smash them aswell. Wrasse to 6lb where you are fishing too. 😜 enjoyable fun video mate. Not all about the monsters.
Haha yeah mate you were right, thanks for the tip!! I honestly thought I would have had a wrasse down there by now, especially using prawns, they seem to be my Achilles heel!! Maybe next time
Videos are outstanding brother
Were is this
South East Scotland
where is this?
South east Scotland.
prawns are great for perch
Seems like they're a good around bait!
