Top quality video jay. Takes some skill to skin that Huss on the rocks. Alien like eyes on him and his nashers look razor sharp, he fancied a smash catch n cook when he nearly had you 🤣 meat reminds me if monkfish

My local fishmonger calls them 'poor man's monkfish' I like to oven roast the whole thing on a bed of wild tomatoes (get a load of different colours ones), courgettes and peppers and serve it up with roasted baby potatoes (skin on!) takes about 35 minutes and is bloody lovely!

Excellent video Jay & Sam 🎣👍. You hit the nail on the head, about comparing Huss to Conger ell stakes. Is a delicate meat & not alot of a fishy taste, my old man ( Dad ). Back in England ( Grimsby) that was one of his favorite fish. My Dad fish the north sea trawling and gill-nettig for over 30 years.

Great video as always Jai. Used to get it in the fish and chip shop as rock salmon which could be huss or dogfish, also known as poor man's fish and chips. We used to bone it and fillet it and either fry like you did in batter or marinate it over night and bake it. Haven't had rock salmon for years, brought back happy memories, thanks

I live in the PNW USA Washington state, and very few people eat shark. We have loads of dogfish w/ large daily limits and it amazes me that these are almost shunned when they make great fish & chips, sandwiches, and fish tacos. I’d say ‘get out people and get connected w/your food’ but more for me I guess. 😎

Put the huss OR doggie in foil on a bed of onions
Wrap it up and oven cook for about 10 15 mins
Unwrap it and the skin peels off lovely 👍🏻 TRY IT !
THEYRE lovely in a fishcake 👍🏻

Yummy! Shark is my favourite fish to eat. Here in Australia the most popular fish to get at a fish and chip shop (in the south east anyway) is shark... (Gummy shark or school shark).

trying to catch up on all your videos pal as only got back into sea fishing this year but every video i watch is awesome a huge thank you for doing these Jay I think we all get something out of watching each one you do and I especially like the vids with you and your old man and you get schooled lol. I'm 48 and got into sea fishing 30 years ago but dropped it for about 10 years due to serving in the military. Your channel has really helped me get back into fishing and when I'm not fishing I love watching your channel and Inglorious out fishing. You Guernsey boys deserve all the likes and followers you get even if you are new school you're definately hitting the marks. Big thanks to you, Sam and Inglorious you should have your own TV show but I know thats not what you guys do it for. Tight Lines young brother

Cracking vlog Jay, you're right about not being able to get it in chippy's anymore. When I lived in London, they called it Rock Eel or Rock Salmon, & I always asked for it, but since I moved to Skegness on the East coast in Lincolnshire, where there's chippy's everywhere, there's not one sells it. I've got a sea kayak now & do my fishing from that rather than the beach. What waters do these fish prefer, what's the best time of year to catch them? Thanks.
