Water pump or thermostat is a good thing to check. Usually temperature problems if those are the not operating properly. Some fords (like my old Ranger) move the actuator but the actual blend door breaks where the actuator pushes so the door doesn't move (or it flops around). Some vehicles can get an air blockage and not pump well thru the heater core. Sometimes the heater core plugs up. Can disconnect the hoses and use garden hose to push water thru the core to flush it out (or verify it is not plugged). Some vehicles have a valve in the lines feeding the heater core.
the heater core is plugged on this. really stupid design. also the water pump bearing is going.... so next up is flushing the heater core which of course since this car sucks. is hard to get to.
also...forgot I didnt upload the video yet... the thermostat is broke... these ford taurus designs are complete garbage. this car shouldnt have any of these issues with only 150k. water pump is normal for the mileage all the other stuff ive dont to this car is not. junk design.... intake manifold has like 10 leak points and they will ALL leak
so how did you flush the heater core? that question is important as there is a bypass at the heater core. if you just pushed water through the tubes, you didnt flush the heater core... th-cam.com/video/SlGRGCzqDUs/w-d-xo.html
well since its not working correctly still, the mechanic did not do their job. did he test the old thermostat? if he did does it open at the correct temperature? if yes then that leaves 3 things. was the antifreeze fluid normal looking not muddy or have bits and pieces in it? 1> heater core clogged 2> radiator is clogged 3> water pump fins are worn. did he check how good the water was flowing with the thermostat open?? that will test if the water pump is working correctly and of if the radiator is clogged. none of these will test the heater core because the heater core as I noted has a bypass. since mechanics do the absolute minimum allowed to match the hourly rate quoted there is no given he even knows there is a bypass at the heater core. if the mechanic does not work on this year taurus/sables he almost certainly does not know there is a bypass at the heater core. working an hourly quoted rate he most likely flushed from the thermostat hose and water pump hose which will go mostly through the bypass and not properly clean the heater core. so if u want to understand why he will do this either to save time or because he didnt know there was a bypass, u just need to look at the video I linked above. its hidden behind the engine. even if it wasnt hidden, you can easily overlook the fact there is a bypass... also I've come to understand most people dont even have the intellect to see this hose clearly has a bypass at the heater core u can look at the hose yourself amzn.to/3UqWBtQ

I just got rid of this Taurus. the spline shaft stripped between the torque converter and transmission. apparently this is a common problem with this car. I think it had 120k-130k miles on it. I didnt feel like fixing it. just need to replace that shaft, transmission was fine etc.

wat did you find out the problem was?
there was a slight clog at the heater core tube. I use this method to break the clog. th-cam.com/video/SlGRGCzqDUs/w-d-xo.html
I get my car running to normal tempatures with the heat on. Just replaced the thermostate and flushed the core no change.

@@bobspurloc I had a mechanic do it. I'm pretty sure he did that.
It does "work" now but I have to put the fan at a low speed until it heats up then I can put it on a higher speed.

Thermostat is the easier cheaper fix. Try that first.
