    Lowes and home depot both sell an engineered fuel that has no ethanol but does have a stabilizer in it makes all your small engines run loads better

      As long as it's affordable, then maybe a good option.

      Those are normally 2-stroke pre-mix with oil in the fuel. Great to use if you're bringing a long dead engine back to life. Not something for everyday use as you'll foul the plug. Luckily I just moved to rural Pennsylvania where I can get ethanol free fuel. That's all I run in all my motorcycles and scooters. My very expensive Yamaha WR-250R actually has a warning sticker that says running fuel with more than 10% ethanol will void the warranty.

    Hey Dan, really appreciate your videos. I have a new Chinese scooter I bought last year, only about 400 miles on it or so. I will probably only be putting about 400 to 500 miles on it per year, since I only ride a couple times a week in the summer. I am wanting to know at what mileage do you think I should start using synthetic oil? I figure it's probably still breaking in right now. Thanks 👍

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Immediately start using synthetic oil. I suggest Lucas 10-40 4-stroke motorcycle semi-synthetic

    I used to live in Florida by the way. I am retired and live in Panama where it is always hot. Anyways, do your recommendations apply to Yamaha and Honda scooters also? I have an old yamaha BWS that I have had for 13 years. The mechanics here do not do Ajuste de Valvula(valve adjustments) here apparently. They looked at me like I was stupid when I mentioned it. My Yamaha is getting old now and good mechanics are hard to come by where I live. Great video sir. Thanx.

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on the scooter. However, most of the name brand scooters that are Japanese won't require adjustments unless they have like upwards of 50,000 miles on them. That being said, the rest of this video will definitely help any scooter owner

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also Glen to be clear, the GY6 Chinese engine is a knock off a Honda engine from the Honda Rukus So if you own one of these then yes, you will be doing will be doing valve adjustments.

      @@IFixShet Thank you sir. In Central America we have motorcycle's and scooters made all over the world. Not just in China. I have a Honda XRE 190 made in Brazil. I have a Honda Elite 125 made in India. Its hard to keep up with it now. Many of the small scooters made in the world are not offered in the USA because there is no demand for them. And, getting parts down here can be really difficult.

    I have been trying to find a used scooter here in Florida, and about 60% of people selling them don’t have the titles. 🙄 Florida law requires registration which means you need the title.

    Oil cooler

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a good option it does keep the oil cooler however you might only get an extra thousand miles out of your scooter using an oil cooler so it doesn't really make a huge difference like everyone thinks it does

  • @LBJ3423

    just got a Chinese scooter and see that the manual states to avoid synthetic oil. I seen online about it cause something with the gears slipping. Is that true or I do not have to worry about that? Everyone confusing me lol also what brand of oil do you recommend? Thanks for any help you can give. Great video!

    • @dragineeztoo61
      @dragineeztoo61 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The gears are NOT exposed to engine oil so running synthetic engine oil will preserve your engine. Reducing friction in the engine is always a good thing. I think they're referring to synthetic gear oil.

    Is it bad to straight pipe these ? I haven’t messed with the jetting it runs good though just pops a bit when I let off the gas

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean You're not giving any backflow to the system. Also, depending on the temperature outside, open header means that cold air can attack the valves.

      @@IFixShet ok and the bike has 6k miles and never messed with the valves the engine sounds and runs good no ticking but it’s kinda hard to start

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Running an open header can cause SOME vehicles under some conditions, to run overly lean, thus burning valves. This is normally when you end up with warped valves

      @@IFixShet bro it’s so weird how many different opinions there are about these 150cc Gy6 motors some people say there well built and are a Nock off of a Honda and can last 20-30k miles if maintained then people like you say they don’t break 10k usually my Gy6 has 6k and I haven’t had many issues at all
