No one wants you to lose your sponsors' support, but we don't want you to be slaves to it either (for your sake and ours). Just... please pay attention to the like/unlike bar the same way you guys pay attention to your EDH meta. Josh's go-to advice about how to force out certain cards/decks you don't like is to hate them off the board on sight. If you make a Game Knights that gets "hated off the board," so to speak, please don't take it personally. :-)

Speaking of opportunities is nice, but you carefully avoided speaking of constraints tied to the sponsorship. Giving out free stuff and mentioning sponsors is all well and good, but not if it is detrimental to the show. Don't get me wrong. I find it fantastic that you guys are getting sponsored to produce content. But I nevertheless feel you are getting a bit overwhelmed by the demands deriving from this commercial agreement. Which is a shame, since you are indeed talented in both setting a good pace and explaining stuff... I really hope you'll eventually go back to what most viewers seem to be expecting from the Game Knights episodes.
I think you may be overestimating what the restrictions are. We do the giveaways entirely on our own accord, ship out the prizes ourselves, and have zero obligation to do so from sponsors. We do that entirely to reward viewers for being a part of the experience and pay for all of the shipping and handling out of our own pocket. We have always intended (and if you watch us talk about it on the podcast we mention it a lot) that the show's goals were to show the diversity of Magic across multiple different formats and provide different entry points for everyone to enjoy the game we all share and love. Sponsorship opens doors to help us make the show better - a new set, a new studio, flying out Meghan and Maria, hiring a director of photography, getting Josh some assistance in the editing, and overall opening up new doors for us to experiment and evolving the show. What it seems like people "expect" are literally just original Commander decks, and again, I can't stress enough that while we know people know us for that format, it won't be the final and last word on anything we ever do. I would hate it, being a fan of all of Magic myself, if I could never do anything BUT that on the show. It would almost make me want to stop making it entirely - that feels more restrictive than anything else. That being said, we're going to have a LOT, and I repeat, a LOT of episodes coming up with original EDH decks. There aren't "sponsor restrictions" like you may envision, it's just us making this process more fun for ourselves and expanding to cover different areas of what the show can and will be in the future.

While i enjoy viewing a good game of EDH as much as the next guy, you guys also does interesting things i see so little of elsewhere; planechase, Archenemy and now Two headed giant. I'll be playing in my very first prerelease with my daughter this weekend and we are doing 2 Headed Giant. I darn near fell out of my desk chair this morning when I turned the computer on and saw this!!! While Commander is my favorite format, I actually find it refreshing to see other formats as well. Dang I'll admit 2HG surprised me and while I initially started watching this series because of commander it is not the sole reason I keep coming back. I love the content and passion / know how you guys provide, I especially love it because you two represent what MTG community should be about, welcoming players old and new and encouraging game play with an open and giving mind. I wish I could say the various comments that seem to be anti anything and everything that isn't EDH are a surprise but this is the Internet after all - if you guys strictly did EDH I have no doubt that they would complain about that too. A highly entertaining show. I was anticipating Ixalan Commander decks, but this was an interesting switch. I enjoy the Sealed Format and Sealed Two-Headed Giant is a delight to play. I introduced my Wife to Magic playing Sealed before transitioning her to Commander, and we both enjoy playing together. Thanks for another great episode. I'm excited to see you getting further sponsorship so that you can make more happen with the Game Knights. Editing has to be one of the hardest parts of making the videos so getting more help with that is fantastic. I hope this means we get more and more great content coming up! Keep up the awesome work!

Really? They come out with these maybe once a month, and this month's one was basically just a 42 minute ad. I don't understand how you could not understand why people are upset. Frankly, Game Knights was the only thing that kept me subscribed to this channel, since the Command Zone casts have become way to pretentious for me, and now Game Knights is them trying too hard for what is basically an ad.
IconoclastXVII look, I see that they're going a new direction too, but I see it as less of an add but more of a fun coverage of the new set coming out because that's an extremely exciting prospect. They get their sponsors out of the way in the beginning of each episode, yes they do need to keep the lights on. But I truly don't see how this is a glorified ad, I've seen this one and the past few as a fun way to cover new products that many of us want to know about. But I really don't think they've become pretentious, and don't see how you found that idea, they work hard to try to make us all happy with their content.
I enjoyed it. Ads are ads and really aren't that big a deal. I am glad sponsors are willing to give these guys money so they can continue. But if you want to cover all their bills, XVII, so they can go ad less, I won't complain.

It's easy to complain that you guys aren't doing Game Knights like some of its earlier episodes or that these episodes are very ad-focused, but I think it's great that you guys are always trying to improve the channel and Game Knights as a series. Of course with new product, you have to showcase it, and I think it's great that you are showcasing other 3+ player formats on your show. Yes it is The Command Zone, but I think it's great you're presenting these formats that some players may not be familiar with or may not have yet given a try. Great work, guys. This was a fantastic episode guys! Outside of commander, Limited is my next favorite format, and I've been doing 2HG Prereleases for the past year with my best friend. This episode was right up my alley, with tremendously fun guests. This wasn't even the first non-Commander Game Knights. Y'all had an Archenemy episode a few months back. I like seeing you shake it up now and then, and I'm sure you have plenty of upcoming content making commander decks out of the new legends. Keep up the awesome work guys! Fun episode folks! Interesting how the feel of an episode can be very different and depend so much on the personalities of your guests. It seems that you guys didn't find as many powerful commander cards in Ixalan as previous sets. Shaking Game Knights up by doing two-headed giant was a good reactive move. Good to shake things up on occasion anyway.

While the overall format of the show is nice, I get the feeling this is drifting farther and farther from the original Game Knights format towards an ad platform for Wizards. Which is a real shame because the pace is generally very good. Can't agree more with Joe below, some original commander decks battles would be much appreciated !

I absolutely love every episode, wether it's commander or not. I mean, even being spanish I laugh each time you do a joke or something, for me that's the essence of the episodes, your inner humor. Don't know actually if "inner humor" exists, but who cares xD. You are amazing!!
Congrats on the Sponsorship! You guys are doing great! It was great to see more of the Ixalan set in action and you all played very well. The commentary was colorful, relevant and also easily comprehensible for newer players. There's a reason WotC sponsored you guys, you totally deserve it and you promote their product wonderfully. MtA were great guests, and I would love to see more of them in the future. As far as what I'd like to see in future content; more of the same and more of the new. I don't think there's much wrong you can do with the formula you have going. The only complaint I have about Game Knights is that I enjoy it so much that it's over too quickly, but it is always worth the wait. =)
You know what that means though, right? There will only be Wizards aproved content on the channel. They get sponsored, they get their previews, Jimmy gets to host a few events. With a bond like this they will never EVER so much as say a bad word about wizards again, no matter what they do.
yeah, i hope not. because if you look at their ixalan preview video from a few days ago they were really harsh on almost every card, just basically things unplayable garbage. while that isn't bad mouthing wizards, it is their unfiltered opinion and i hope that doesnt change.
Guys I understand that with sponsors comes revenue and responsibility for certain content, but what people are saying is without viewers or subs the sponsors probably wouldn't be there. I don't mind some sealed content every so often but definately not for a game knights episode. If i subscribed to a kitchen table magic channel I would not be looking for standard only content. Not trying to be mean just trying to give perspective from the comment section.
I'm watching the series from beginning to current, and I always love when you deviate from commander, because it adds a nice spice. The quality of the show is great as always, and comparing this to the posty episode, it's super cool to see how much command zone and game knights have evolved. I love the show guys, keep it up!

I'm fine with you guys branching out into different formats. Also after Jimmy's lengthy explanation in another comment I'm more content with sponsorship (Not a big fan of the Eclipse Sleeves still but to each their own) but It just feels like late you guys are spreading yourself too thin. I get that you guys are very busy with each of your respective successes coming in life (Congrats to both of you) but it feels like the podcast is suffering. I remember watchign the Unesh Deck Tech and you both seemed super drained and going through the motions. Most Podcasts and deck techs after that seem...hollow. I don't know how else to describe it. Anyway still a big fan of you guys and your content (I'm obviously still subscribing and listening : P) it just feels like there's a lack of Oomph in the main Podcast. Also LOVE seeing Megan and Maria!

That was very hard to watch but totally the fault of your guests. Now i remember why when I checked their show I was like "never again". You should have invited Rudy and DesolatorMagic, put them on the same team, make Rudy play with a PSA 10 plastic alpha reserved list only deck and Desolator with an Ixalan homebrew of his own. That would have been comedy gold.
I think these girls ruined it for a lot of normal viewers. They just seem way over the top compared to their normal guests, but then again i could be wrong. just my two cents

Really? They come out with these maybe once a month, and this month's one was basically just a 42 minute ad. I don't understand how you could not understand why people are upset. Frankly, Game Knights was the only thing that kept me subscribed to this channel, since the Command Zone casts have become way to pretentious for me, and now Game Knights is them trying too hard for what is basically an ad.
IconoclastXVII look, I see that they're going a new direction too, but I see it as less of an add but more of a fun coverage of the new set coming out because that's an extremely exciting prospect. They get their sponsors out of the way in the beginning of each episode, yes they do need to keep the lights on. But I truly don't see how this is a glorified ad, I've seen this one and the past few as a fun way to cover new products that many of us want to know about. But I really don't think they've become pretentious, and don't see how you found that idea, they work hard to try to make us all happy with their content.
I enjoyed it. Ads are ads and really aren't that big a deal. I am glad sponsors are willing to give these guys money so they can continue. But if you want to cover all their bills, XVII, so they can go ad less, I won't complain.
It is really nice getting to watch you guys play limited as you always talk about how it is one of your favorite formats!

It's easy to complain that you guys aren't doing Game Knights like some of its earlier episodes or that these episodes are very ad-focused, but I think it's great that you guys are always trying to improve the channel and Game Knights as a series. Of course with new product, you have to showcase it, and I think it's great that you are showcasing other 3+ player formats on your show. Yes it is The Command Zone, but I think it's great you're presenting these formats that some players may not be familiar with or may not have yet given a try. Great work, guys. Keep it up, and look forward to more great content as you move ahead.

I agree. Besides limited by the sounds of it is Josh and Jimmy's second favorite format. And I completely understand. Personally, if I'm not playing commander/edh its all about that wonderful limited.

This was a fantastic episode guys! Outside of commander, Limited is my next favorite format, and I've been doing 2HG Prereleases for the past year with my best friend. This episode was right up my alley, with tremendously fun guests.
This wasn't even the first non-Commander Game Knights. Y'all had an Archenemy episode a few months back. I like seeing you shake it up now and then, and I'm sure you have plenty of upcoming content making commander decks out of the new legends.

It seems that you guys didn't find as many powerful commander cards in Ixalan as previous sets. Shaking Game Knights up by doing two-headed giant was a good reactive move. Good to shake things up on occasion anyway.

While the overall format of the show is nice, I get the feeling this is drifting farther and farther from the original Game Knights format towards an ad platform for Wizards. Which is a real shame because the pace is generally very good. Can't agree more with Joe below, some original commander decks battles would be much appreciated !

It was great to see more of the Ixalan set in action and you all played very well. The commentary was colorful, relevant and also easily comprehensible for newer players. There's a reason WotC sponsored you guys, you totally deserve it and you promote their product wonderfully.
MtA were great guests, and I would love to see more of them in the future.
As far as what I'd like to see in future content; more of the same and more of the new. I don't think there's much wrong you can do with the formula you have going. The only complaint I have about Game Knights is that I enjoy it so much that it's over too quickly, but it is always worth the wait. =)

You know what that means though, right? There will only be Wizards aproved content on the channel. They get sponsored, they get their previews, Jimmy gets to host a few events. With a bond like this they will never EVER so much as say a bad word about wizards again, no matter what they do.
yeah, i hope not. because if you look at their ixalan preview video from a few days ago they were really harsh on almost every card, just basically things unplayable garbage. while that isn't bad mouthing wizards, it is their unfiltered opinion and i hope that doesnt change.

Guys I understand that with sponsors comes revenue and responsibility for certain content, but what people are saying is without viewers or subs the sponsors probably wouldn't be there. I don't mind some sealed content every so often but definately not for a game knights episode. If i subscribed to a kitchen table magic channel I would not be looking for standard only content. Not trying to be mean just trying to give perspective from the comment section.

I'm watching the series from beginning to current, and I always love when you deviate from commander, because it adds a nice spice. The quality of the show is great as always, and comparing this to the posty episode, it's super cool to see how much command zone and game knights have evolved. I love the show guys, keep it up!

I'm fine with you guys branching out into different formats. Also after Jimmy's lengthy explanation in another comment I'm more content with sponsorship (Not a big fan of the Eclipse Sleeves still but to each their own) but It just feels like late you guys are spreading yourself too thin. I get that you guys are very busy with each of your respective successes coming in life (Congrats to both of you) but it feels like the podcast is suffering. I remember watchign the Unesh Deck Tech and you both seemed super drained and going through the motions. Most Podcasts and deck techs after that seem...hollow. I don't know how else to describe it.
Anyway still a big fan of you guys and your content (I'm obviously still subscribing and listening : P) it just feels like there's a lack of Oomph in the main Podcast.

I love how they made such a big deal about getting vraska, and saying they were going to put vraska in a deck….to never play it. You’d think the editors would have thought twice about making a big deal about a non-starter
That was very hard to watch but totally the fault of your guests. Now i remember why when I checked their show I was like "never again". You should have invited Rudy and DesolatorMagic, put them on the same team, make Rudy play with a PSA 10 plastic alpha reserved list only deck and Desolator with an Ixalan homebrew of his own. That would have been comedy gold.
Great job on the editing and green screen window treatment. It showed that you four had a lot of fun.

Indepently from the controversy between limited and Commander, the game isn´t good. Too many pauses.
When this got uploaded I wasn't sure what to think as I was at work and skipped through a lot to get a feel for the episode and noticed there was a lot of interview bits, more than I remember than usual but now I have the time to watch properly and it's ok, not actually a problem.
