I struggled with my 1991 suzuki vitara, I saw my friend struggle with mazda 3, my gf and her sister struggled 2 hours with their newish bmw. I saw people drive their cars to the mechanics to get their lighbulbs replaced. Now I had to do this with my c30. Literally the easiest thing I've ever done on a car. It is a 5 minute job and is so amazingly simple. I still had to watch this tutorail, but I'm amazed how well this headlight is designed.
I just had to change a bulb on my mothers 2010 V50 and when I first looked in the cramped modern engine bay I thought "oh hear we go". But then I watched this video and had it done in a couple of minutes, it really is a superb design. I'm still a little baffled as to how the single pin holds the headlight in place. And also baffled as to why the design is so poor on my E90 BMW 3 series, it has bulb replacement flaps in the wheel arch which are awkward as hell and if the flaps go missing then road water sprays directly in to the headlamp unit. I guess Volvo didn't care too much about money from main dealer bulb changes. The 1.6 16 valve Peugeot Diesel engine that is fitted to my mums V50 however is not the best design and needs special emission reduction fluid topping up every 60,000 miles, and its located in a secret tank underneath the car, very economical though. Later models have a normal Diesel particulate filter and an improved 8 valve version of the Peugeot 1.6 Diesel.
I looked behind the lantern and didn't believe my eyes for everything that stood in the way of letting go. I'd never figure it out without your tip. Thanks a lot👍😂
Thank you for making this so easy - and it was, except I couldn't disconnect the light bulb from the electrical connection with one hand like you did. Mine was really hard to unplug! I'm so glad to be able to save so much money by doing it myself!
Thank you bro did both mine and my wiper blades in like 30 minutes. This is the easiest headlight replacement i have ever done my mazda was a nightmare lol
I watched this video 2 times..just to be sure that I didn't miss anything. I walked outside and changed my low-beam in less than 5 mins after watching this video. This video was very clear on the steps and made changing the low beam very very easy. I would like to add that I am VERY much a girly girl, and I don't know ANYTHING about changing car stuff (I just recently found the button thing that opens the hood)...I am great at pumping gas, but that's abt the extent of my knowledge when it comes to doing car stuff. Thanks for the tutorial, I do feel very accomplished. My car is a 2010 Volvo S40.
Thanks very useful to see how easy it is. Saves me paying Halfords £20 to do it. However, my 2009 C30 doesn't have H11 for the low beam, it has H7s. So I guess they aren't all the same and it's worth checking before buying.
Nate, you are incredible! I have watched several times your demonstration of replacing the timing belt and the water pump, the comprehensive procedure, just to know in details what the mechanic is doing to my Volvo S40 2006... When are you going to Western Colorado??? I need you here! Better skiing than on the East Coast, a paradise for cycling as well!!! If I will need some surgical procedure, I would like my surgeon to work as delicate as you do! I am a retired physician, avid cyclist skier (both alpine and nordic) and my excellent Volvo S40 brings me everywhere here in this region, at the gates of the Wild, Wild West! Happy New Year!
In my previous message, Nate, I wanted to say "When are you coming (moving!) in Western Colorado?"... There is more blue sky and we have less raining days here... Grand Junction, Colorado...
Good Job Nate. Way to break the ice. Looking forward to more quick vids of you guys tinkering when I am not in the garage. For some reason this reminds me... Always have a' spare! I have changed certain things out 'early' one time on each our cars in an effort to have emergency spares. 1 Headlight Bulb, 1 Tail Light / Brake Light Bulb and a Serpentine Belt ride around in EVERY car and the truck... You just never know when. Late Sunday Night coming home from In Laws WAY out of town comes to mind... If either one of those Bulbs was still good, toss it in Trunk or Glove box right now.
Great video very helpful, I just replaced the low beams H11 with AUXITO led 4500LM Bulb 6000 color temp night and day difference between old and new. Replacing the fog lamps with Same.
What size light is required for the high beam I have 2010 Volvo S40 R-Design? Can you do a video showing replacement of fog lights, interior exterior lights? Thanks
I took my car to Walmart auto center just to change the low beam and they said they can’t do it on my car because they don’t have the tools required for this type of service on my car, even though it seems very easy in this video 🙄 I guess I will just do it myself. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Singh, this is what happens when we have a Motorsport Director handle the camera , the angles, the job, etc. lol It's a start though theyll get better as the next few come out!
Dude you literally just saved me a couple hundred bucks, changed them in 10 mins! Thank you so so much for posting content like this.
That's what we love to hear! Happy to help :)
Just had my S40 tell me my low beam bulb was out and I was concerned on how to replace it. This is very informative thank you.
Hey, I didn’t even need to watch the whole video and I changed my bulb in minutes. Great job, thank you!!
Happy to hear it, Simon! Volvo did a good job in making them easy to replace!
Thank you, it literally took 2 minutes to change a bulb after watching this video.
Thank you for actually showing the changing of light bulb. No one else did.
Thanks. I never thought it was this simple. Mechanics informed that they needed to remove the front bumper 2008 S40 to change the bulbs.
As someone with an 07 C30 that needs two complete headlight replacements (low beam adjustment is broken) this is invaluable thank you!
Thanks man... you made that alot less stressful than I thought it would be when I started

I have a busted S40 2.4i and a working S40 T5. I swapped the whole assembly in a few minutes after getting a low beam bulb message. easy peasy thanks
Thank you bro did both mine and my wiper blades in like 30 minutes. This is the easiest headlight replacement i have ever done my mazda was a nightmare lol
This was so helpful! Just the right amount of detail. I was able to follow along and change the bulbs step by step. Thanks!
I watched 1/2 of your video and changed the low-beam in my 2010 V50 in about 5 minutes - thanks!!
Thanks! These videos have been a great help in getting my new/old 2011 C30 on the road.

Awesome man. Thank you. I have been avoiding doing mine as I thought it was like my old Subaru Liberty GT.
Super helpful man! this would have SUCKED without this thing with the pin
Glad we can help!
Thanks FCP ! For once, Volvo used their heads in the design of these C30 light-boxes ! My XC70 is terrible.
thanks. a note that another commenter said though, atleast on my UK '08 c30 pre facelift my low beam is a H7

Thanks so much fot that video! Saved me a couple hours of useless unscrewing!

Very informative and concise video !

Thanks, GMAN S! That's a great idea on carrying spares, you never know when you might need them!
Just changed low beams on both sides of our daughter’s s40 due to this video.
Any guidance on changing the outer orange and middle tubing lights?
great video! simple, clear. good stuff. AND just a lovely C30 you have there, looks well cared for!
Please make a video on how to replace release hatchback on Volvo C30.
Made easy work of it,thank you
Great video very helpful, I just replaced the low beams H11 with AUXITO led 4500LM Bulb 6000 color temp night and day difference between old and new. Replacing the fog lamps with Same.
Thanks, Tom! Glad it was helpful!
Thanks, I used this video today. Do you have any videos on replacing an S40 trunk latch/lock?
All car headlights should be this simple to do, did both sides in less than 5 minutes .
Very clear and precise, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Is this the same for facelifted C30s?
It worked. Thank you so much man!❤❤
💙
Pls how can I replace the small bulb behind the high beam light , is called a rear fog light on the right side.
My European C30 with Xenons were way different and imho way more difficult
While not as good as xenon's, the one plus with halogen bulbs is the ease of replacement😅
My V50 with xenon's was different, but not much harder for low beams.
Your recommended low beam bulbs for 2008 S40, pl
What size light is required for the high beam I have 2010 Volvo S40 R-Design? Can you do a video showing replacement of fog lights, interior exterior lights? Thanks
Your R-Design will have this bulb for the high beam: www.fcpeuro.com/products/audi-philips-crystal-vision-ultra-h7
Great video. Thank you very much! Looking forward to watching all your videos!
Great video, just installed new light on my sister's Volvo. The only question I have is wich wire brown/yellow is positive and wich is negative ?
Also, we got the message low bulb failure, guess it was du to hid low electric consomption ?
Thank you this was very helpful.
Thanks! Cool sword sound 🗡️
Thank you very much!
Great informative video. Would you have one on replacement of license plate bulb housing?????
not currently, but we can pass the idea along to the team!
@@fcpeuro super. I dont wasnt wanting to remove bumper.

Thanks a lot ! That was very helpful video !!

This was SO helpful. Thank you.
My headlight bulb and the receptacle are totally different
Thank you. Great video.

Thx dude! That's help a lot! :)
Good job.
Thx man
Happy to help!
That's an E30 M3 shell?
I was about to start disconnecting my a/c lines just because I figured that how volvo designed it.
Is that a bmw e30 m3 at the back 😍
yesss Luke yesss it is 😱We are hoping Nate will make some much needed progress on that car for this at home series!
@@fcpeuro glad to hear, I have a e30 in the UK but sadly not an M3, be good to see it running.
you did not film up close, or cover the w5w middle position bulb, or the side bulb. Nice effort tho
sick
🤘
Love all your videos but in this camera was far away from actual action but appreciate your effort
Thanks Singh, this is what happens when we have a Motorsport Director handle the camera , the angles, the job, etc. lol It's a start though theyll get better as the next few come out!
It's all about knowing the Volvo secret handshake.....
If you know you know Chuck
So that’s how people in dealers make 150$~ in 5minutes
Will this also work for a C70?
Let us know if you try!
Great video but please, please don't sit on cars, it's very unprofessional.
Thank you for the note! This is Nate's personal vehicle, and now a fully caged racecar😅
