2024 & Joe still rules! RIP! Thank you for music for a lifetime!
I still miss Joe, too. I won't feel half as sad as I do now, when Bobby Zimmerman slips into oblivion..

So glad I seen him in Laughlin NV. 🎉🎉🎉

This is me and my wife's song , 37 years strong . She was 15 and I was 17 , 4 children and 9 grandchildren. what a beautiful wife and life I have been blessed with
God bless you.
That is truly a blessing. I pray for a relationship like that. I'm 67 and I believe my window of opportunity is fading. First Valentine's day l ever spent all alone. I envy you, sorry but I'm also a little jealous of you. But I pray about it everyday and l think God is going to bring me someone. God bless you both l loved this post, it increased my hope...

I'm listening in 2024. When I tell people that I prefer this version to the Beatles' version, they look at me as if I have two heads. Joe's version rocks. 🤟

I am still listening to this fabulous song after all these years! Me 75 years young! Bring this music on!

Great comment....@@suesavage513
He just stood there and sang. No antics. He put his all into every song. Normal looking, no makeup. Just sang his heart out every time.
Proper old school.

I cannot believe this great artist is not in the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame yet!
I agree! I don't know who decides who is going to be in there but who ever decides need to rethink it because Joe Cocker does belongs in there.
Cause at 1 time he was a drunk & PEOPLE judge he as that & don't give him credit for changing his life around. I say SHAME on them.
Probably because he didn’t fiddle with kids
I remember looking for at John B Lee for the letter 5o years ago

Wow, Joe Cocker was a true artist. I saw him at O2 in Prague in 2013, just a year before he died and it was one the of best concerts I've ever been to. Almost 70 at the time, he delivered more than 2 hours of great music pretty much straight. Sir, you will never be forgotten.
True cover artist, lol
2024 anyone?
Yesss i,m here with you, thanks ❤️🙏
All is real - voice, song, emotions, backs..I love him ))

The year is 2023, and this song still give me goosebumps… how about you guys?!
re-listening to it from time to time. Joe was incredible.
Always.🔥💕
All the time!!!!!
Maybe down to experimenting when younger, but my brain was fused to a time before my birth! I love the Woodstock-era music and I'm a massive Deadhead (they WERE there but their sound system didn't work, imagine the film with a proper Dead set!)
Joe was an amazing artist. He could sing anything and was amazing!
How is this man not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? For the love of God, he played at Woodstock, earned a Grammy, Oscar and Golden Globe.
I know huh? It's absurd. This song by him is included in the 500 most influential songs, but with little fanfare.
He really should be. I hope someone will see your post and someone will do something about that.
My Dad took me to see him when he came to South Africa....not many musicians come to South Africa so it was a very big deal. I will be forever grateful to my Dad for this.
No, but the put rap stars, motown groups, souls singers...see the link here??? They only put non-rock people in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Why not put Joe in the Black Music Honors Hall of Fame? He was a soulful as any of them.
l agree with you, indeed Joe Cocker is a great and
talented artist who's songs never goes out of style,

Beats the Beatles version hands down. Even Lennon said "That's how we should have done it." But it needed a soul man like Joe.
Hes no death as long as we remind him!
Other time Lennon said : Now it is Joe's Song @@childofthe50s53
I agree he made the song better. This version is sublime. But I wouldn't say it's the ONLY song made better than the original. Bob Dylan only plays Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower because it is better than his original. Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah is better than Leonard Cohen's (but only marginally imo). Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" is another one.
I'm french, i have never kwown the legendary Woodstock festival but i have a part of this legendary event here ! Peace to all who loves this song !
Hello, from a western neighbor! I hope you are well, my friend.
My comment isn’t about saying poor pitiful me. Just stating a fact and wanting you to know I appreciate your comment, it was for a reason.
I’m in a very low spot right now, and friendship is definitely a big reason. I’ve watched this video countless times, but this is the first time I decided to read comments. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence after seeing this comment, “peace to all…” and your comment being as new as it is! I want to offer a huge thank you for your comment, especially the quote from it I mentioned. It helps me. God bless you!!!

Yep for SURE
i had the privilege of playing keys with Joe in the late 70s for a couple of tours. pretty rough time for him. even so, he was the sweetest soul imaginable, funny and humble. and i never played a show without getting goosebumps listening to him sing. he was the real deal and he sang every note straight from the heart. a favorite memory is a show we played in Germany. Richie Havens was on the bill with us and he came on stage and sang "You Are So Beautiful" as a duet with Joe. Richie standing back away from the mic with his hands clasped behind his back, singing ever so gently, and Joe, well, being Joe with all the passion he always brought to that song. every one of us on stage was in tears by the end of the tune. godspeed Joe and thanks for the indelible memories.

Agreed! Reminds me of Christmas and everyone around!
There are very few covers of Beatles songs that are better than the originals. But Joe's "With a Little Help" is WAAAAY at the top of that mountain. Sheer, raw, emotion and soul.

It blew my mind when I first heard the Beatles version (had heard and loved Cocker's version first) and realised that fun little upbeat tune had spawned such a majestic cover.
I hate covers. I was born in 1977, so, I actually heard this version first I believe at any rate, I was 20 before I found out that the Beatles even sang it.
At 70 years old I still love this song 😂
I am 82 and agree with you. My friend is the same age as me, she bought the record for me. We are still friends 63 years after meeting for rhe fjrsr time.

I must say my friend it's 2023 and I'm still listening to the oldies but goodies !😊
From South Africa . Tears just falling. It reminded me of my late father. He will play this record. May his soul rest in peace 🕊️
I wish that this song could be heard around the world at the same time on speakers that every person could hear, then maybe just for a few minutes we could feel the unity of humanity.
Meta. Well that's a great sentiment to express. Understand what ur saying and that would be nice to see.. Humanity & unity seems a long way appart where I'm looking on from. One day maybe... Ever hopeful though like your good self. 😃
Wonderful words of hope, my friend.
When Joe took this Beatles song out of the box at Woodstock, it burned it's way into the hearts and minds of millions. Now many people don't even know that anyone other than Joe ever sang it! 👌🎶🎶🤟💖
So true
I can't disagree. He gave the song soul.... He did the same thing to You are so Beautiful.
I learned about this song watching the TV show the wonder years when I got older I looked it up and found out the Beatles song it originally but Joe is more my style 💪🏾
Joe cocker did this song right
The Beatles wrote it, joe cocker sang it.
@@merklingassoc I read in an article that during an interview he reavealed that 'You Are So Beautiful' was his favorite. Wow, awesome that you caught that in the passion with which he sang that beautiful song. I'd also read that his voice cracked at the end of that 1975 studio recording. He apologied for losing his voice, saying that he'd do it over. I don't remember who nor how many told him that his voice cracking was what put so much emotion into the song, providing the perfect ending. It couldn't have been scripted any better. They kept it in. Yes, I think you got that so right, that was soul, and it made the song his.
I'm 82 y/o. Cocker still has a unique delivery.
A classic. No extras, no gimmicks, just a classic
Back in 1974 I had a music teacher that challenged us with the question - "Did Joe Cocker do this song better than the Beatles?" Now it is a non question. Joe owns it,
This song is one millions time better than.all the Beatles songs
This is easily in the top 3 of all time remakes better than the original if not #1
The only version better is the dead
We all need help! God bless!

Never a more passionate singer. Joe Cocker put every fibre of his being into his trademark vocals. For us baby boomers, Cocker's rendition of "With A Little Help From My Friends" can transport us back to those crazy days of the late 1960's. Indelible memories. It pleases me no end to see younger generations equally enchanted with his music. Godspeed Joe. RIP.
Those were crazy days, in a pleasant and wonderful way!! We are now living in crazy days, too, but they are totally unpleasant, wrong and dangerous.

I’m 69, I’ve got my children and grand children listening to Joe, they’re all blown away with his singing ability! What an under rated singer/legend! What a voice, and an absolute character!
He was never under rated.
That's so funny because I have a 31 year old daughter a 33 year old son and a 41 year old daughter. They all listen to all the music I grew up with, because that's all that was ever played in our homes and cars!!
I often joke with them, hey does your generation have any good music? LOL Yes I know they do, however nowhere near the 60s and seventies, and Early 80's. The Very best years for music, this entire century!!!!!. They know all these songs by hearts.
Should I ever meet a man who could sing to me like that, I wouldn't care what he looked like, how smart or wealthy, nor much of anything. I'd marry him tomorrow. Can you imagine being sung to like that every night? What an amazing turn on. Unfortunately, I learned this at about 50. I wish I had known this at 24. oh well when your beauty fades, and you find out what's really important in life, sometimes it's just a tad too late. Don't be a dumb you know what like me! Look always from inside out. Never from outside in. Words of wisdom from somebody who screwed up Big time!
I believe Joe was granted "carte blanche" permission to record any and all Beatles' tunes based on his performance of this song. An anthem for our time.
I remember being taken aback by this fabulous song. I live I the UK and had been through a tough time, my best friend bought me this. I still regularly listen to it. Thank you Joe
I find myself listening to Joe once again! And along with the outstanding performance by all, I can’t help but think of the lucky people that was able to attend this great concert! Memories they will never forget!
Every note that's being played is felt by the great Joe Cocker and you can see it in his face, his hands, his whole body, his soul and his voice. RIP LEGEND!
