I'm a guitar player and have one of these (w/maple board) that I just have for fun/recording. I was asked to play a gig with a pick up band recently and had MULTIPLE people come up to me and compliment my bass tone after we were done. Go figure.
The Sonic series bass and guitars are pretty good for the price and also solid mod platforms. A lot of people just swap the stock pickup on broncos for a dual rail humbucker.
Its really "cheap" if you compare it to fender MIM / USA, but.. Ehat about Harley benton, short scale with jazz pick up on the bridge and split P bass on middle plus 3 way toggle and alder body and grphite nut, carmlized maple neck, costs maybe 100 dollar more plus shipping 😅
It seems to me that it has more character than the CV Mustang Bass, the original microphone is already good (unlike the Sq Mustang Bass). With good strings (Flatwound) and a well-tuned amp, this little bass is a pleasure and versatile
Yeah, the Snark booklet that came with my tuner says not to leave it on there while playing. Good enough for me. Last night I was at a jam and.... saw several tuners on guitars.
I'm thinking of getting my first short scale bass for recording at home, and I need your advice! I've been checking out the Squier Sonic Bronco and the Squier Classic Vibe Mustang. I really liked the feel of the Bronco, but I'm not sure which one would be more versatile. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!
It's nice to see Fender listened to players and gave it some much needed changes...I bet with a better pickup and wiring harness it could be a little scorcher
Cool little basses. I found it to be a bit bright w/ the tone all the way up... but that's just for my touch and tonal needs. Thanks for watching - Anthony
Great little basses that don't cost much! Squier basses always have some pro's and con's, but they are consistent for the price point and occasionally far exceed that. Thanks for watching - Anthony
@@PanoramaUnion I owned an affinity series bronco for a little bit, it wasn't very versatile or dimensional, but it was light and played well... so it's either a great beginner instrument or, especially now with the standard fender bridge and gotoh style tuners, a rockin' modding platform
11 days later.... lol. Hope that's fast enough. Yes! You can slap on these, but short scale strings have a little less tension and make it actually a bit tougher (in my opinion). Thanks for watching - Anthony
I had one of the Affinity Broncos that I strung with GHS short scale Precision Flats. It was cool. These Sonic Series ones are way better than the old Affinties.
They also make a short scale precision, called the mini precision. In that case, no. Unless you are really small though, learning on a full scale instrument won't be any harder than a short scale.
Short scale is really good to learn on for some players. That said, we sell a lot of standard-scale to beginners as well. I always suggest getting a few in your hands and let your personal feel guide you. These are always VERY popular models for beginners though! Thanks for watching - Anthony
I know this isn't the topic of the video but I don't like seeing tuners stuck to the top of guitars and basses either. But worse than that are the tablets and phones mounted in front of everybody. This is made worse if all they do is look down at it. I feel like I'm essentially watching a lesson as opposed to a performance.
Various reasons for the tablets/phones. Sometimes it's charts, sometimes it's lyrics, and sometimes it's an in-ear monitor control. The nature of those items impacting a good performance makes them ok to me. lol!! Thanks for watching! - Anthony
1. You really need to stop slapping the strings at the frets on bass....... it's not a guitar. 2. You should really be able to set your instrument up - *everyone* should be able to. 3. My Tahitian came out of the box with terrible high action and the factory strings are just abrasive and garbage. Popped up flatwounds (nicely rounding the tone of the otherwise bright and not-so-low-end pickup) and sounds lovely.

What case do you use with it? I’ve had a hard time finding a case that fits
@@thecubery3996 Fender made one specifically for these, the Fender FBSS-610.
@@thecubery3996Fender offers a short scale bass case,

Good for all of that! Mod 'em or leave 'em.... either way super cool for a great $$. Thanks for watching - Anthony
Always great to listen to your groovy bass lines. Keep them coming! Thanks for the video.
Thanks Zack! Appreciate that - Anthony

It just adds weight for no reason and looks stupid.
@yeoldefoxeh254 and the pads might damage some finishes if left on long term.
Hypnotising, really beautiful sounds. Anthony. 💓.
Good review. These broncos really sound nice.
Looks great for a mod. platform, especially with the laurel/rosewood fingerboard on the neck.

Is the neck slim? For small hands?
Is the bass in the thumbnail the limited shell pink or the coral one??

I need a really fast answer because I want to surprise someone with this for xmas and I need to know: Can you play with slap technique on this bass?

"It has a few shortcomings to it, from a tonal perspective, it's kinda limited with this single coil pickup in it."
Anthony, i really enjoy your tone. will you divulge your amp and or signal chain info?
In this case Anthony, leaving the tuner on makes the Bronco look bigger! Great job as always!
Do you notice any significant difference in the different fingerboard woods regarding tone?
How do you think this would sound with Flatwound strings?
Sounds awesome, got flats on mine

Anthony, would you guys, be able to set this up as piccolo bass for extra $ if ordered online?
Would this be easier to learn on than a Squier Precision?
Short answer is yes.

@@thierry18 I assumed he or she was asking about a full scale precision. But yeah, that mini Pbass is even shorter. I think it's around 28" scale.

I bought a pink Bronco so I could guiltlessly modify it. $1000 later I have an awesome sounding and playing Bronco. I wish I could post a photo here
I’d love to see that.
Very cool! Enjoy - Anthony
the bridge n tuning gear looks different ?
They've upgraded those over what was on the Affinity series. It would be nicer if they did a black pickup cover to look more like a Musicmaster,
I think playing with a pick suits the vibe of this bass the best.
Good Bass Lines 4 a Demo
Thanks! - Anthony
