At last, someone who actually explains the differences rather than just relying on my untrained ears. Excellent review that actually led me to buy one here in England. Thank you.

Fantastic review as always, really insightful take on the difference in feel and sound. Much better than the usual "shortscale, so great for kids and women". Fender really gives us bass players a lot of options when it comes to shortscale basses nowadays. Squier bronco (super cheap), Classic vibe (great bang for your buck), Player series (a nice different take with the PJ set-up), Vintera (a more classic mustang bass) and finally, the Performer (the only American made option, mustang plus jazz pickup). I would love to see a comparison video of those five.

The p pickup Fu King kills on these things, perfect p tone to my ears, when u blend that j in in it's a perfect modern classic sound, love my maple necked sienna burst!

Thanks for great explanation on short scale. I have been a bass player off and on for past 15 years or so. Never encountered short scale until seeing this bass. Nice to hear some of the physics behind the short scale compared with regular. Love the sound it has, trying to add it to my guitar arsenal.

Short-scale is also good if you deal with chronic pain issues.

Anthony, I love your videos. You are a fantastic player and skilled and knowledgeable reviewer!!! I purchased the Classic Vibe 60s precision bass after your demo. Great, in-depth explanation of the short scale instrument. Thanks

I've got Tapewound strings on mine.
I'd love to watch a review on one of those new Junior Collection Short-scale Jazz Basses from Fender Japan.

Damn the Pau Ferro, shortscale, and P/J Pickup Combination really shine with this particular Mustang bass. Super stout, aggressive bass with that Fender Pau Ferro sizzle in the mids. Really cooking with gas with this one, might just be that particular instrument but that J pick up is downright impressive. Extremely mix-cutting, I absolutely love these new Pau Ferro Fenders coming out. Everyone who prefers the old way is dumb; You can still darken the Pau Ferro, it has nicer grain, sounds better, and is better quality than that cardboard fretboard Fender has been using on MIM basses for years. Don't even tell me - I've bought them

You can always get short scale strings if you wanna play a short scale like you would a long scole bass... People never mention that in these demoes, for some reason.
    love your videos, btw

Have the exact bass. This thing is an excellent bass. Only negative is the switch. I ditched mine & added a blend knob. Now its just a switch that does nothing !!

How much do these basses actually weigh ??? I recently had Lumbar-Fusion Back surgery and I am looking for something lighter than my P Bass. Please advise and Thanks! BTW, several reviews price these basses at under $700 however Fender has raised the list price to $850 !!!
