    Good job, Dalton. The car's looking great. Those '72-'73 fastback Torino's sure are a good-looking body style. You plop that 460 in there with a mild split-duration cam, early-style timing set and some headers, and the 'ol Torino's performance will increase substantially over that 400. Keep up the great work, man! --Bruce

      @eliteman7652 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Based on my experince in dealing with 72-73 Gran Torinos, the 429/460's do nothing but overweigh the front ends of our cars. A properly winding 351 Cleveland will leave one of these cars way more balanced. The only good use for a 385 series 429/460 would be if you really want a big block to go drag racing.

    I guess I'm a little late to this party but I just had to share with you my love for 1973 Gran Torino Sports. When I was 17, I took over my mom's Ivy Green 73 Gran Torino Sport. It was a sportroof with bench seats and a 351W with FMX transmission. I later traded that in on the Mercury equivalent, a White 1973 Mercury Montego GT with 351W, FMX and bucket seats with consol. A few years later, I bought a slightly wrecked yellow 1973 Gran Torino Sport. This car had a 351 Cobra Jet and 4 speed transmission. That car was wicked fast and sounded so good. I often think about how rare that Montego GT was. I mean you just don't ever see them.

    @18:17 that chrome 12 point socket that rounded out, isn't made for impact usage that's why it rounded out. I worked for craftsman for years, we were trained on everything we made and sold over and over and over again every year we had dumba$$ training on the same things... And honestly that's personal knowledge of the tools hands on for 30 plus years now. If you notice the cheapest sets of black impact sockets are all 6 point it's for that exact reason so they don't rounded out the socket or bolt/nut..

    I am happy for you guys that you got that ride. I had a triple pack of 72's in the neighborhood and the people who had them loved them and the first one was a 351C with a four speed. The second one was a 351C with a built C4 transmission,and the third was the well to do middle class family that helped the boy out some and he had a built up 351C that had a built C6 with a 2500 stall converter and a very stout shift kit in it and boy did it run. It was a hard shifting car just putting around town it would shift into 2nd and chirp everytime. Going down to the highway or bypass it would chirp 3rd everytime. Beautiful color it was a forest green color and I don't know if it was a Ford color, but it was a pretty color and had the white stripes down the middle of the hood and the trunk lid. Memories of a time when you didn't wait for anything for days it was in stock everywhere.

    There is nothing like a Torino. I ran the scale at a junkyard for a few years, and I bought an all original 302 '71 Torino with 53K original miles that literally came out of a barn around 2015. I paid $200 for it. The person I bought it from said the previous owner parked it because she didn't like driving it. Her sons got it after she passed, but they didn't care about it. I don't know how long it had been sitting, but it had about an inch of dust on it, so I'm guessing it sat for a couple of decades. Beyond the dust, it was in near perfect condition. It was a blast to work on it, and I managed to get it running again. I miss that job, and I wish I could have kept the car for myself, but I couldn't.

    This video showed me what I have to look forward too. I have a crusty 80's Mercury wagon that my family's kept, due to it being my Dad's daily driver. Unfortunately it started having issues 2 years ago and the mechanic couldn't figure them out, so my Dad bought a new to him car. I've been working on it on weekends, knew it had spark and air, so after the work I did to the fuel system (regulator/filter) I've deduced in my infinite wisdom.. It's the pump.... yay..

    My Dad had a 72 Torino Sport. Same color blue, laser stripes, magnum 500 wheels. Main difference was bench seat and column shift. Loved that car! Would love to have one again. For now, I will live vicariously through your videos. Thanks for sharing your beautiful car with us.

    I really like your content. You, JYD, VGG, Mortske, Puddin, and Dylan McCool are my favorites to watch. Keep up the good work. 👍

    When I was a kid there were 3 72 torino's back in the field. I put a million miles on those cars playing in them, pretending I was driving and dreaming of fixing one up one day. The owner scrapped them about the time I was old enough to start fixing them but refused to sell them. " if I can't have them, nobody can." I've wanted one since.

    I learned that shock trick for the fronts years ago. If I’m not reusing the shock I always just do as you did, bend it back and forth till it snaps the top of the shock off. Works like a charm everytime and relieves much desire to repeat a work that rhymes with Truck ……. Lololol

    Always look forward to watching. I'm catching up on the old ones. I love the 4x4 van, I want to see more on that hopefully!

    Love the car and to see more content about it. Perhaps a new road trip with JD 😉? Love to see you are still on it and did not loose your basics - that's all a great channel is about!

    Dalton, being a Mopar dude i still go back to my childhood and model cars, muscle cars in general and that really is a fine Torino and i love it, i work in Montgomery AL, and theres one i pass regularly thats red and white, not a starsky and not restored but awesome and i like the blue on yours better but just seeing those hot rods on the road is freaking great... I just love it 👍👍👍👍👍✅✅✅✅✅

    The item on the top of the 72-73 tank is the vent for the tank. It ties into the evap line on the passenger side of the frame to connect to the charcoal canister mounted in the bottom right side of the engine bay.
