    Holy mole, I watched probably 20 videos today, ended up flooding my bathroom and going to Lowes, splish sloshing through the store for parts. I found your video this evening and working along with your video, had it fixed in 20 minutes. You have a gift of instruction. Most people, no matter how much they know, can impart that to others. Thank you.

    Great video, here some friendly advice, that will help people. I've notice a lot of videos, including instruction videos from manufacturers websites that are selling the parts, and many of these videos skip the tools, how many different types of tools, and what kind of tools to possibly use. (or they don't talk about it at all and they just show the fixture removal process already done, which isn't helping much when diving into some of these projects, and you find out there are fifty different faucet cartridges, and various tools, and sizes all to hunt down). So the more details, the better! Show as much as possible, especially the tools like with these faucet fixtures, I just did one yesterday, and bought the tool you're using in the video to remove the fixture which I thought I would need, I bought a six piece variation of sizes on both ends, and none of them fit on this fixture. So just ended up using a regular long neck pliers for the extension part. Then I also noticed Lowes was selling a puller tool for the cartridge itself when I went to purchase the new cartridge, which I didn't need that either, because a needle nose worked fine.

    Dont use bare hands to pull the valve stem, put a screwdriver in the two holes of the valve stem puller specialty tool and use the screwdriver for leverage, you won't have to risk cracking off the water line or damaging the seat jerking it back and forth. The rest was valuable info, thx

    You glossed over the part about turning off the water. I hope people heard it!
    But besides that, all the things you warned about, are the things I'm afraid of doing. Messing up pipes, breaking them behind the wall, etc.
    Now of course, you did put some strength into it and everything still seemed OK, so I hope my case is similar when I get to working on it! I'd hate to turn a $10 no-plumber needed job into one where the plumber has to come in the middle of the night or the weekend and fix things that I broke extra!!

    I have a 3 handle shower system where the left handle turns the bath on/off, middle handle turns the overhanging showerhead on/off, and right handle turns the handle shower on/off. I recently snapped the stem of the left handle and will need to replace it.
    I live in a condo building but I think the 4th handle which controls temperature and is below the first 3 handles may have a manifold for shutting off water. Would shutting the water off with that manifold also shut off the water to the left handle? I’m not sure how each of the handles and water source(s) are typically connected

    • @Askmediy
      @Askmediy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, seems a little different of what you have. Left should be hot, middle bath or shower and right cold.
      Lots of condos have a valve under the manifold, using a large screwdriver or Allen key to turn the water off to the manifold. Check that.

    Great tutorial for future reference.
    As someone who works on his own vehicles, I always use some type of antiseize when removing and install stuff like this just in case I have to remove again later. Also, I always rub plumbers grease on all seals so it is not a rough dry fit. Sometimes these type jobs are easy and other time they are a pain in the butt.

      It really isn't so '...funny." The "Boy's Club" is still alive and thriving in 2017 with sexual innuendos even from 'fix-it' videos where you would least expect it to hear/see it. When should we say, "...enough is enough". It is up to the real men in the world to simply stand up and be counted and help get this out-of-control freight train stopped. Would you allow someone to say these things about members of your family? Say something and let others know, it isn't, Okay. Those things are not funny in 2017. It's time we stand up for those we love. I know for a fact that women and kids watch these videos too.
