- While an automated manual transmission (AMT) and an iMT are both regular manual gearboxes, in an AMT, the actuators and motors change gears and operate the clutch for you. In function, then, it’s fully automatic. Software, of course, governs when and how the shifts happen.
In an iMT, on the other hand, the software and actuators only control the clutch while you have to manually shift gears. In effect, an iMT sits sort of half way between a regular manual gearbox and an AMT.

Bhai I hope people see this review... In India please do "bhed chaal"... Kissi ney bola iMT bakwas hai and that's all people started following it. It's best people take the test ride for minimum 3 Kms and if required visit multiple showrooms and take minimum 2 test rides before buying the car. I spoke with a few Sonet owners and they had the same observations that iMT is good option. Yes, the sensors are costly but it can Last good 100000 Kms. So maintainence wise it's 16% less than tatas AMT and VW AMTs. Go ahead and buy it

I personally feel imt cars is reliable for the plain areas but in the hills its very challenging. I have been driving a imt in the hills which does not have a hill assist the car rolls back very quickly. Moreover while going down hill in steep slopes its very challenging to control the car especially where the road is bad . Braking isnt good while going downhill in rough road conditions .Car suspension is also not good while driving in rough road conditions in the hills. No wonder hyundai has discontinued imt variants . Apart from kia no other brand in India has imt variants

I hava imt and drive it on mostly in hilly areas with no issue at all.

Try driving a imt without hill hold assist in steep uphill traffic the car rolls back in the blink of an eye...you must be driving it in not so steep hill roads try driving it challenging steep uphill n down hill in regions like the north east of india....can you tell me why did Hyundai stop the production of imt cars n why no other car company is manufacturing imt cars apart from Kia . Manuals are way better they are more reliable especially in the hills . Have you driven in the steep hills of the north east . Switch to manuals ok like i did....tk cr guy with girly traits lol 😂 had imt cars reliable then why no other car manufacturers are producing imt cars rather they are coming out with dcts ,amts,cvts,ivts n obviously mts i.e. manual transmissions that's going to be there till eternity. Imts are fun to ride in the plain roads but for off roading i didn't find it to be good at all .

Ok I'll compare it with our very popular swift because a lot of us are familiar and driven it at some point in our lives. YES it is slightly stiff, say 15-20%

It is not as hard as the youtubers mentioned in their review especially for petrol versions. For diesel yes the suspension is slightly on stiffer side but nothing concerning

DCT transmission has heating issues in traffic plus it is high maintenance.. It's better to go for imt because it offers the best of both worlds which is ease of driving without clutch as well as the power delivery will be at your disposal and in your control because of the manual gearbox... Give a thought to this 🙂👍

Touched 46k last week within a year. zero complain w.r.t gear box and imt transmission. The quality is top notch ...not a single rattling or squeaking sound from car.

The turbo GDI engine is superior in terms of power delivery. You can touch 160+ in no time and it has unbelievably silent cabin.

@@dreamwheelsindia thanks. What about performance on steep inclines??? Since the turbo kicks only after 2000 rpm the uphill driving becomes sluggish due to the initial lag upto 2000 rpm. Did you notice this issue?

I took my car to Leh Ladakh very easily.
@@prihnt1233 yes there's a issue as i drive under 2000 rpm as it's not really mileage friendly and if you take it to hills you have to get above 2000-2500rpm for power under that it's nil. Also if you turn on the ac there will be a power lag and you can even feel it. Other than this its good to drive.
Xuv 300 chalayi nhi h lgta😂😂😂 If you are not biased, then you can never say that sonet’s turbo engine is more powerful than xuv 300 in real life. Stats may be better in terms of power but xuv has a more torquey engine and acceleration is definitely superior…. And yes, i have both. Thats why I can say that for sure

Neither very good nor bad.
You can assume it okay.
It's good but not as good as Nexon. Your family is safe in this car at nominal speed (60-80) but above that even 5 star rating kinda fails. So drive responsibly and safely ☺️

In the hills its very challenging especially if your imt car does not have a hill assist coz the car rolls back in no quick time and on rough road conditions the braking isn't good , suspension is also not good. Moreover it's recommended not to press the brake pedal and change gears simultaneously coz that would damage the actuator of your imt car and in the hills its very tough without pressing the brake pedal and changing gears in uphill roads it's recommended that one should use hand brake in uphill roads .

Basically u r paralyzed or dont know how to use clutch.
Feel in manual is with clutch. Without clutch manual does not makes sense. Better to go for proper automatic and use manual mode tgere whenever needed and in normal case use smooth automatic.
At times you see the need to downshift when u want to take over. And most cars automatic is not tuned well, however sonet dct is amazing. So in those cases one would want to downshift too and thats when this imt can help. Actually most people want manual , it is just the clutch press hassle poeple want to get rid of. I feel imt is that sweet spot where u are free of the clutch and at the same time u retain fun control over the drive
