Ben has been my fav since your pod Joey. He checks all the boxes. Top poker mind who’s thoughtful, vulnerable, transparent, and open minded. Also jacked af. I absorb everything he says.
Ben interviewing Sauce would be A++. I would also be interested in seeing Jonathan be the guest in an episode also, he does a great job hosting but I think there’d be a lot of value to he had from his as a guest also.
As a young poker player interested in intellectual conversation this was a great listen. Have always been a fan of bens poker game. After listening to the pod I'm equally a fan of ben as a person. Jonathan does a great job of getting the most out of every conversation and it's noticeable in the final product. Well done and thank you for bringing this into the poker podcasting space. 😃
Way to face your social anxiety head on. Love hearing from crushers in this laid back fashion. Motivation! Reminds me of when Jungleman faced his. Look forward to the guest host episodes!
Appreciate these interviews. One thing I'd wish to hear more of is strategy / advice to improve. What did his study routine look like? What were key aha moments? What lessons did he learn from Ike? What PLO concepts do NL players get wrong? What motivated him to be the best? stuff like this that would help a lot of listeners give us some insight into how a top player got there
Thanks Bobb. I hear you on the strat / advice, but to be perfectly honest I don't get much out of those chats and the majority of my guests have been pretty oi as well. I do like the "What motivated Ben to be the best" question and I'll try to remember to ask if he comes back on in the future. If you haven't heard of them, I'd recommend "The Mechanics Of Poker" podcast. They spend a lot of time on the topics you're mentioning.
really enjoyed the discussion around not making the play when you know the right play. i like Ben's solution to go play 8 hours of good poker to bounce back. gonna try cupping on Ben's rec. lot of high level sports performance tips in here
For some reason I remember Ben playing Isildur1 HU at the PLO cap tables and the game was psychotic. A twoplustwo post, in the highstakes thread, showing a cartoon baby Batman vs Ironman throwing money at eachother battle encapsulated the funny game it was.
I can't really stand actually playing poker, the theory and conversations people have about it though fascinate me. This and the mechanics of poker blow my mind. Great content I've been railing birding Ben86 for years.
46:00 "Enjoy the stories because it's fun" I think they will always take you out of your focus at some point. There is no benefit to fantasizing about winning or fearing to lose. You get attached to a certain outcome and when things go the other way you feel like you lost something. Best example is the feeling of going from chiplead to shortstack being different than being short the whole time. Your stack is the same, but because of your attachment to the story it feels different.
I think both of your examples are spot on, and I agree storylines will always steal some of your focus away from the task at hand, and this is harmful to an individual's pursuit of becoming a better player, but I don't agree that there is no benefit. I think the stories are a big part of why pretty much everyone with a passion for poker got into the game, and specifically a big reason that many people enjoy playing and looking forward to tournaments instead of cash. Somewhere there's a proper balance to find between doing our best to stay focused, and also trying to enjoy the moment. I think that equation/balance is different for everyone.
I appreciate the content, but this is not a podcast. It's a recurring TH-cam series. Podcasts are distributed by RSS feeds to the devices of subscribed users. I'm not able to find this in my podcast app. Could you please make it into a podcast and distribute via RSS for easier consumption?
@@JonathanJaffeGLHF It seems like there's some overhead to setting up an RSS feed, but it would be amazing to hear in the future if possible. If your website uses a CMS like Wordpress, there are plugins to help. I really wish I could listen to this on the go!
@ Thanks for the info, I'll pass this along to our editor who is in charge of the Spotify project. He's got a few of our coaching videos ahead of that project at the moment, so it may be a little while, but we're going to at least give it a try
2:21:00 Really appreciate the view that the brain is just another human body part that fails from time to time. I think as a poker player it's even more common to identify with what your brain can do and to take pride in it.
one of the real goats of the game - used to love having him on my show, always great insight
Ben promised his lifetime graph on your show. we are still waiting
what is taking so long with the Venividi podcast?

Release the Venividi podcast
Doug says Ben is a psychopath... Joe, is Doug a psychopath?
Appreciate Ben coming doing the podcast, he has lots of wisdom and is too humble to realize how much value he gives to us who benefit from it
The Christmas present I didn't know I needed. I've been waiting for a new pod w/ Ben for a long long time. Thanks and happy holidays!
Happy holidays!
This was an awesome podcast! JJ you are a natural host! Really enjoyed hearing you and Ben chat with each other.
Thanks Thomas, I had a great time too...Great guy to chat with and listen to

Super stoked for this episode, thank you! Bring more PLO guys on please. An episode with Eelis would be epic!
Bring Eelis please so we could compare the IQ difference between a compulsive ADHD 110iq guy and a super HS reg.
Awesome to see Ben on another pod. Looking forward to him hosting it, Sauce as a guest would be amazing
Noted 👌
This series is the best poker content of 2024, and I don't think it's all that close.
Thanks 🙏

holly shit greatest gift of the year having host a BEn, I love you Jhonattan but ben is the goaaat
👊👊👊
so good, sauce123 for ben"s guest podcast would be unreal
+1000
Is Sauce still around? That guy helped me figure out a lot of concepts in the fora, back in the day.
@@Bean-js9bc haven't seen much of him since the Brandon Adams podcast episodes, love listening to him
Love this idea David
what a GOAT podcast matchup 🔥
Thanks Mario

Ben’s hu match Vs Cumicon on stars back in the day was prob the best display of technical plo play I’ve ever seen. Unmatched to this day imo.

Oh shit! Side Saddle Ben in the house 🔥🔥🔥
:)
Host ben86! Good stuff. Thanks guys!
Thanks Eric
Great podcast! GTO LAB should hire Ben as a coach too!
Haha I like that idea.
Would love that. Thanks Adriano
„no way“ was my reaction when i saw this

Best to ever do it.
@GTOLAB if you can somehow get a BERRI SWEET interview, even without a webcam, that would be massive. Thanks for the content so far!
Noted, that will be a difficult one to get on
Jaffe, the thing you cut about Damon, give this a like if it was about him stopping using a slur.
You keep getting better at interviewing. Great job ser.
(Get Charlie Carrel on please)
Thanks 🙏
Thanks maples
in for the bttech86 pod
Me too
It’s 2025. Ben’s interviewing Isildur. It breaks the internet. End of story.
I would love that

I think there were a few of them over the years, but one I remember is "Dreaming Of You" by The Coral...Lmk what you think
Casual french press refill. Subtle boss shit.
