  • Nuclear medicine technologists, also called "nuke med techs," use scanners to create images of various areas of a patient’s body. They may work in specialized areas such as cardiac stress labs, where they prepare radioactive drugs and administer them to patients undergoing the scans or cardiac testing. These radioactive drugs enable healthcare professionals to examine the body with much greater detail.
    In this video, you'll learn about the nuclear medicine technologist job overview, education requirements, and salary statistics, including detailed salary information by state. See salary information for all 50 states at the link below:

    This man is so kind, knowledgeable & pleasant 💗 He's wonderful at explaining & teaching in a caring, effective manner. My dad was a nuclear physicist, so I definitely understand the high risks with radiation at dangerous levels. This is my boyfriend's field he went to school for, and is very successful working for a cardiologist in New England. Devastatingly at the end of 2019, he learned he has leukemia (cancer), his diagnosis at just 40. I personally believe it is related with his work. Radiation kills cells, mankind was too smart for its own good and did not apply sense nor safety, so now we have this poison within our hemisphere and I suppose are trying to at least use it to the best can be & with positive intent, hence health care. I'm Blessed and relieved to share that he's been in remission for 6 months, after doing a treatment series that he responded well too. Thank God, our faith and Science for his remarkable strength & recovery from such horrific disease. Although I could never prove he definitely developed this cancer directly related with working around radiation, it's one of the only logical explanations and I guess could be said it's coincidence, (I don't believe in coincidences), or perhaps it ran in his family. He's adopted into a mixed family by a lovely single mother. So I don't know his family history or if it runs high of cancer but I just felt to put it out there that just as this Dandy man says, this is actually a risky career and potentially quite dangerous. I'm risking my spine pursuing practical nursing, so maybe there is a degree of stressful risk with most jobs but it shouldn't be in 2022 to earn a livable, comfortable lifestyle and have your basic needs met without worry. Certainly this type of work has its share of worry, so be mindful and do your diligent research. Only pursue it if you are comfortable with that being a possibility, which most aren't or are ignorant to make believe & angel dust one can not see!!! ❤️

    I’ve been a registered CNMT for 2.5 years, in the field for the past 4. This is a very accurate video! I’d think you were a Nuc tech with this amount of information! Lol

      Does the salary increase by the year of experience or with continuing education for example a master degree being a nuc med will increase a technologist pay rate?

    Im trying to send you an email because I need some information about your sonography video but I don't know why my app don't give me the option. The question about that video is: all the sonographers work monday to friday or just in many sonography areas? You tell something about the schedule in the video. Can you explain more specifically please. Thank you.

    • @RegisteredNurseRN
      @RegisteredNurseRN  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not a sonographer, so I can't tell you a 100% but my wife who is a nurse has worked with some and they tend to work Mon-Friday and are on-call on the weekends (which rotates). However, it varies depending on where you work. I would try to ask local sonographers in your area and ask what type of schedule they work.

      X-Ray techs take images with different equipment, and are usually only with a patient for about 5 minutes. Other duties include performing special procedures using fluoroscopy with a Radiologist present to view joints or the GI system. They often have to go to surgery as well to operate a C arm to guide the surgeon through the surgery. Nuc Med is more specialized than regular X ray and generally are paid more $$. I’m currently in my last semester of x Ray school and am looking into specializing in nuclear medicine. Hope that helps! :)

      Radiation Therapist, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Ultrasound Technologist (sonographer), MRI technologist, CT Technologist, etc...
      These are ALL Radiologic Technologists (just advanced into different modalities) and recognized as Registered by the ARRT and have completed a JCERT approved education (associates or Bach).
      Commonly, you can just get an associate's of applied science in Radiologic Technology (Making you a Registered Radiologic Technologist upon sitting for and completing the exam after graduation) where you can then be cross trained into CT, MRI, ULT, Bone densitometry (DEXA), etc.
      OR you get a bachelor's of radiation sciences which will automatically train you into an advanced modality upon graduation (usually MRI, ULT, NUC med, or Radiation Therapy).
