    I'm a surgical tech and I can say this is very accurate. Standing for long hours is no joke, get good shoes and support hose while you're young! Some surgeries you can sit in, such as eye and some hand/foot surgeries, it depends. Often scrub techs specialize in a field (like plastics or orthopedics) while working in the hospital, especially the larger ones. Some cases you need to wear a full body heavy lead apron if the C-arm is going to be used during the case; it is hot and heavy. And some cases are done in uncomfortably warm environments (pediatrics and burn cases) or very cold, you'll have to deal with that as well. It is important to check your state about scrub tech requirements. Some states want you to be certified or military trained, others are willing to accept on the job training, but I think the trend is toward certification. Thanks!

    Hello! My goal is to go to Medical School to become MD, but I also need money for the time being while going to school because I have no financial support from my parents. Is it a good idea to get this job to earn a living as well as medical experiences while going to med school?

    • @shad3128
      @shad3128 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a great way to get your exposure in the field and do your shadowing hours, while also forming good relationships with physicians and nurses who will likely be your recommendations for medical programs and quite possibly help you find programs to get into. It's great to work in and put some money away if possible before taking the MD leap, since you really can't work while in medical school - at least more than anything part time at best.
