Last week I purchased a bunch of logs to build my off grid cabin. Little 12x12 on 3 acres I bought. My father and I are currently knotching them. Hopefully in the next month we can start building. Can't wait. Your vids, along with The Outsiders, and TA Outdoors were my inspiration. Thanks for the great vids!
The Sauna sounds like a great idea. You can also add an square addition to the rear of the A-frame. With a couple of bedrooms and storage accessible from the outside.
Great news. Great video! Thanks. Add on to the back of your A Frame with an additional A frame. Make that one your bedroom and add another stove in there if you need it. All the best!
that's not a bad idea! my neighbor actually did that and they're place is quite lovely. I personally want to keep it as a little getaway and a glamping spot for Airbnb for now I think. i want a bigger spot for the everyday, instead of living in my condo atm. That's my focus atm.
You are awesome and there are many people out there that wish they could build the A-Frame. Your video motivates folks to take their dream off the bucket list and make it happen. You explain things so well and show essential examples of key steps. Thanks for doing what u do!
Glad to see that people are still able to do things like this. This project came out great, it really is inspiring. Unfortunately, regulations and draconian building codes have made stand-alone cabins like this very difficult, if not impossible, to accomplish in the state where I live. 'Tiny homes' are functionally illegal here. I'd have to move to a neighboring state if I wanted to try something like this.
Im looking at building an aframe in our garden as a writers retreat for my wife. Going to be hard to keep it secret for the build days but you have really inspired me.
I asked if you built these earlier, you said you didn't. Love your work. My wife is from Finland and her mom and dad had a sauna in the basement. I took one sauna in it, I couldn't stand it, I couldn't breath. I suppose if I would have brought my scuba set up with me I could have stood it, but not my cup of tea. If you have never taken one you should try one before you invest.
Nice video i watched the time lapse and it looked great. We build a round house in the Philippines and we’re thinking of adding small A Frame cabin in the property. Thanks to the video.
I just found your videos last night and loved watching the process of building your A-Frame. I live near New York City and I just purchased 3 acres of land about 4 hours north, what I love about it is that it's a wooded area that gives you some nice peace and quiet. I am going back and forth on if I should build a log home or an A-Frame and I am now leaning towards an A-Frame after checking out your videos and others as well. You're right on the size, I want to build a little bigger so there is a good sized loft area and where I can have more guests stay and also maybe make it into a vacation rental property so others can enjoy it when I am not there. Good luck on your next project
This was sooo rad!! Thank you for sharing your dream and your journey. I'm really inspired to get on this path to build my own cabin. Well done Andrew!

Dude, I'm in complete shock right now! I live in the Black Sea coast of Russia, at the foot of the mountains of the Caucasus. And in this, not the most prosperous country, land prices in this area are MUCH higher than in Canada. For 1/40 acre, you need to give 200,000 Russian rubles (~ 4000 CAD). Maybe I understood something is wrong? Could the word "acre" mean "are"? (as a conventional unit)
oooh yeah! trim is complete and i actually used foam floor mats (wood grained ones). it adds a bit of insulation and is nice when I'm hunched over feeding the fire!
It would be nice if there was some kind of mechanism to expend the house and add another level like a “drawer” where the house could expand its “wings” like a butterfly (roof &walls) ... I am not sure how to explain it
Andrew Szeto nice! Do you imagine being able to transform the design and space by installing commercial massive hinges at the peak of the roof and open the roof like wings and extend the floor (that you can pull out like drawers from underneath the permanent floor and level it with “legs” ) -just being able to transform this beautiful tiny house seasonally would be beautiful 😀 ..you can have more people coming over and then when you are by yourself put it back to what it’s original design! -/ if only things were this easy, right? Love your beautiful cabin!

Build some crazy skate ramps in the woods 🤟🤟
i totally want too! only thing is that i'd need like gator skins or skatelite for it to survive our crazy winters. soo expensive haha. will see what this year brings!
Andrew Szeto Its kinda a dream of mine to one day get some land and build a little cabin on it and make the area into a mini skate paradise! Even just like a mini ramp would be amazing
@@T_rob for sure! you checking out the skate ranch?! th-cam.com/users/sebastienpetit it's what my buddy seb is doing!
Andrew Szeto wow that man is doing exactly what i was thinking! 👌👌 definitely gonna binge watch all his vids
T. ROB right on! seb is the best! tell him i sent you there ✌🏼
My partner and I have been looking for land for about a year now. We live in Utah and looking for some tips on how to find/buy land?
we have realtor.ca and centris for things in quebec. I am sure there are some sort of listing collated website you can hopefully leverage!

Mountain Pass 💕💕💕 love this
10×10...what is the height?..
Your home is awesome
thanks a ton! it's 13' tall!
Awesome!
Thanks a ton Bob!
What size it this?
just a small 10 x 10. works as a great getaway!
What floorplan/build plan did you use for this? Would you be willing to share it?
there is no floor plan really. just a rendering on turtleflat.com we worked off of. it's my pal richard who knows how to build everything haha
Ah good to know, thanks for letting me know
Well you can expand it or just build a new one.
true true! in time! haha
@@AndrewSzeto :)yes you are ready for it, now I have the impression you know what you want.
4046.86 square meters is 1 acre.
would like to come from 416 to get a workshop :)
I gotta build more before i give workshops!
If you're going to have a sauna, you need to pronounce it correctly: SOW-NA!
I'd like to see the cabin trimmed out, and nice flooring.
oooh yeah! trim is complete and i actually used foam floor mats (wood grained ones). it adds a bit of insulation and is nice when I'm hunched over feeding the fire!
WHERE did you get an acre for $6K?
5 Acres in very-rural Metchosin BC is $369K! (Cheapest anywhere within an hour of Victoria BC)
ya..... i know, i would have loved to have moved to BC, but things seem impossibly unattainable over there. only thing deterring me.
So what approximate area are you located? Just a nearby town or something I can Google :-)
It would be nice if there was some kind of mechanism to expend the house and add another level like a “drawer” where the house could expand its “wings” like a butterfly (roof &walls) ... I am not sure how to explain it
i think i migggght actually do that! build an extension or something
Andrew Szeto you are an inspiration, I have been looking for a piece of land but I don’t know where would be a good town, or city to do that
Which part of Canada 1 acre for $5K ?...Like your cabin
Quebec! Western Quebec. I got lucky!
@@AndrewSzeto How far from the nearest city or town?
What is pinned to your shirt?
Like man!
thanks a lot!
❤️❤️❤️
Well sir if you want to go 16 by 20 or 20 by 20 can't you just add on???
What about size of this house?
it's just a tiny 10 x 10, but great for getaways!
